Extremely Frustrating and Unprofessional Loan Experience

I want to warn anyone considering Synergy Credit Union: my experience was extremely disappointing. I dealt with Tracee Hamel and spent a total of five hours in the branch over several days, providing all documents and answering every question carefully.

After all that effort, my loan application was declined just four days later, with almost no explanation or guidance. The entire process felt disorganized, disrespectful, and a complete waste of my time.

I expected professionalism, clear communication, and support from a reputable credit union — instead, I was left frustrated, stressed, and without answers. This experience has made me question how seriously Synergy Credit Union treats its customers.

I strongly caution anyone considering applying here to be prepared for poor communication and unprofessional handling of applications.

Credit Unions are good for normal day to day stuff. They want us to treat them like a normal bank and do usual day to day transactions through them. That's fine and it usually works ok. But ask to something a bit out of the ordinary, in my case, process a payment from the UK and you are banging your head off a brick wall. So inflexible and no communication

I went to their Cork branch to apply for a loan and they asked me to open an account and put at least €500 in that account, but they rejected my application even though I waited for days. I realised that this is their customer acquisition tactic!

I have been working for 2 years in the same company, above the minimum wage and I have no income problems, yet they rejected my application for a loan of €3000, whereas this branch has accepted the applications of more than 2 people with an income of €1000 - €1200.

If you don't want to be deceived or victimised, stay away from this company

The whole process was straight forward easy and was made even easier with the help of the excellent staff at fermoy credit union

Always good service from your staff. Got a loan recently online. All went smoothly. Lots of online sites can be very difficult. Fine online banking very convenient.

The app is good, sometimes it can be slow

I was seen almost straight away and my dealings with the person was speaking with and helpfulness was outstanding

Well the staff are helpful know their job very well, there is no hidden addenda that's a feeling I get from other banks . With synergy credit union fermoy they want to help you not themselves and I hope this never changes.
