Very well organised, a couple of issues with trains but the Swiss rail app was invaluable. Some hotels were much better than others, Brigg was outstanding and the trip to Zermatt was incredible. The inter rail ticket worked very well for us, the EuroStar was chaotic especially when our train was cancelled but the staff worked very hard to accommodate us on the next train, but were unable to sit together with the friends we had travelled with. First class with GWR was excellent and the Swiss trains were immaculate, on time every time and the staff very helpful. My tip to any potential train travellers, travel light and don’t take 1 giant suitcase, 2 smaller 4 wheel cases are much more suitable. If you are upstairs on a train you have to take your luggage with you and some stations have only steps. We had a fabulous holiday, our friends didn’t enjoy it so much because they are used to holidaying in one place.

Overall we had excellent travel and hotel experiences. There were one or two glitches with the 5• hotels, which occasionally didn’t wholly live up to what you might expect for 5•. However, I would be more than happy to use TMR again. I wouldn’t have been able to book nearly such a good holiday by myself.

Tailor Made Rail put together a wonderful holiday for us. The journey was from our home town in North Yorkshire via London to Karlsruhe, Germany, onto Milan, then Rapallo - to visit the Cinque Terre, Portofino and Genoa. Our return journey was via Cannes, France, returning to Yorkshire after 2 days in Paris. We stayed in some lovely 4* hotels, which were perfect for us. Everything was excellent, though do check the train timings - it seems Italian trains are usually late, so it was touch and go whether we were to catch the connections booked for us. As it happens we did catch everything, but it was a bit stressful.
