Unethical change of Invoice description AFTER Service job had been completed and paid for. Materials charged for at 22 x cost
This feedback relates to Takewellness.co.uk covering Cheltenham and South Wales. I have engaged them twice within the last year, to service my Hydropool hot tub located in South Wales.
Their system of charging enforced you to pay upfront before a visit could be made but reassurance was given to the effect that “there might be adjustments to the quote based on the materials and time required” which I regarded to be reasonable.
The second job was in September and its accompanying invoice itemised Parts/Materials, Travel and Engineer Labour (1 hour) but with an additional Engineer 3 hours Labour specified separately. This job took less than one hour and I expected the extra 3 hour charge (£306) to be refunded but they refused to do so.
So, how did they justify the extra 3 hours Labour? Post invoice and post visit they suddenly referred to the extra "Engineer 3 hours Labour" as "Engineer’s travel time" despite the fact that Travel for both quotes had already been included at roughly the same amount.
In effect I had paid £638.40 for replacing one little gasket (they subsequently told me cost £5.50 but did eventually did reimburse me for this). The invoice should have been £219.
I think it is unethical to change Engineer’s Labour to Engineer’s travel time after the job had been done and dusted! If they needed to charge more for travel then this should have been plainly specified from the outset.
BEWARE!!!
