This review is independent of my care giver, with whom I am absolutely enchanted with.
I've deducted one star, but it would be a half-star if that were possible. In a world of Zoom and Teams, it baffles me a bit that screens cannot be shared during a video therapy session. I really feel that sharing screens should be made a feature.
Additionally, it's a bit of a hassle that only .pdf's can be shared. I get that certain file types can be malicious, so I wouldn't expect Excel or Word files, but surely there must be some types of image files (.jpg, .png, .gif...heck, even .tiff) that would be safe to share.
Except for the direct cam-to-cam experience, it feels like there is an unnecessary amount of inflexibility/ difficulty in what should be a frustration-free, healing experience.

Im on my second therapist. The first left; i was pretty comfortable with her and was worried when I had to find someone else. I’ve only had 2 sessions with Melissa but I feel like she is really good! She has me talking about the root of my problems and I think she is really going to help me.

Initial onboarding was painless. Therapist was a great listener and asked at least one very valuable question during each session. I came away each time having explored aspects of the topic I likely would not have explored without his input. Very valuable.

Talkspace is a good app that’s easy to navigate. I also love my therapist and the rapport we have established, but I am constantly dealing with one thing after another when it comes to billing and insurance. Being charged $120-160 for a session from a month ago out of nowhere and without any notification overdrafted the account that’s connected to Talkspace. I was under the impression I had session credits. From my understanding, Tricare is supposed to cover the entire session. I have yet to hear anything back from customer service and unsure if I should even go to my session today with the therapist I trust and need to see twice a week as part of my consistent healing regimen.
Edit to add after their response below. I still have not had anyone respond to my ticket. Their phone lines are only open M,Wed,Fri from 10-4. It’s 3:30 and the robot on the phone is saying the phone lines are closed. I’m getting close to cutting ties with Talkspace and moving to Sondermind. I had to lock my bank card so they would stop auto-charging me huge unexplained bills.

My therapist knows how to explain back to me what I say that I understand in parts in a way that I can understand as a whole because of the way my mind is and the way my brain thinks. My therapist is basically an interpreter for each of the parts of my thought to help them become whole.

My counselor is amazing and I truly feel like takes interest in helping. She listens, and also helps with possible resolution. I couldn’t have found a better match!

My therapist is great. She is my only experience with talkspace.

Great but calendar needs some love and updating! Would be great to see the appointments booked, that way we don’t double book. Also a pop up saying “you have an appointment already booked, are you sure” would be nice.

Pretty good app, not accurate with availability and doesn’t follow up with confirmation on if my therapist has confirmed but still generates that the session was booked. It’s lead to a few sessions not happening.

My therapist has taught me so much about myself and how to handle not only conflict mentally but also how to manage my anxiety and stress in a more healthy manner.

My therapist Tim has been really nice and helping me cope with my problems. He listens and understands and then relates. I would recommend him 1000x times. When I can’t find an appointment slot that meets my schedule he opens up his weekends for me.

The app constantly glitches, giving me messages that I need to start a messaging session despite already being in one I had booked for a week. It also constantly ends the session 10 minutes early.

Talkspace has been wonderful. My therapist has been a great fit for me! The online platform and evening hours are a good fit for my schedule. I appreciate being able to change providers until I found the right one for me. I really appreciate being able to use my employer’s EAP, otherwise I wouldn’t be able to use Talkspace.

My therapist is the best! She really helps me deal with my anxiety and calm my nerves.

The ability to search for a provider by the type(s) of therapy they are trained in (e.g. DBT, CBT, EMDR, etc), would be very beneficial. It's frustrating to have to read through every therapist's bio for this info and many of them don't list it outright. It would save time matching to a therapist, in my opinion. Otherwise, the app is convenient and helps to at least get started and have therapy feel easily accessible, which is important for many people. It's easy to switch providers for any reason and just try out different ones until you get the right fit.
