Been playing since day 1. I have a legend 10 account that I started in 2019 so it is actually possible to do really well without spending money at least back then it was still possible. Even if it was really hard. I have almost all turrets maxed almost all the regular alterations for each turret and plenty of legendary op ones. I have 6 special skins crisis drone maxed booster almost all the non flying (stupid) hulls maxed as well. So yes it was possible. Also 20 animated paints. Why 1 star you might then be wondering? because the servers are awful the powerful alterations are ptw even if I somehow got some of the from containers. They nerf all the short range turrets like firebird. It needs a massive buff its the only turret that originally could overheat other tanks and now its the weakest of all the ways to overheat others. Meanwhile the super powerful alterations are off the charts powerful.

it's a fun game, but i like the old way of match searching more, the one where you can see what kind of match it is, how manny people are playing and in witch map. The rank range in a game should be smaller, couse when your'e a recruit and it's your first game, there is a huge change that you can be playing against Master sergeant or warrant officer 1.

the game is in a hiatus so the powers that be can make it better,.i have been with tanki since the beginning,.the good & bad,.still no complaints here,.i earned my way to the top w/o buying,.but now that i am there i adapt to the new concept and buy occasionally,.this game rocks.

The game was so good back then...Now you need momey to play. Also it has several problems with their servers.

I played Tanki from 2013 until now. I've watched the game evolve into this horrible pile of rubbish. It was very simple and now its way too complicated for a beginner player to learn and want to stay. They put beginners in matches against much higher-level opponents in their very first match and they get slaughtered. Eventually, most players quit, I stupidly would play occasionally and now it seems that 80%-90% of the players are AI Bots controlled by the game and not actual human players. This is really bad because Tanki can essentially cheat and dial in whatever skill level, ability or team it wants and put you at a disadvantage. I seriously doubt they had any kind of long-term business plan; I mean they had no foresight to attempt to retain players so they must not have much business experience. Too bad, used to be such a great game.

They simply cannot fix the game ,for this game you dont need skill just pay and win Not many players playing all bots It used to be good game but now they hired toddler mods and developers Still game cannot be play with their app and advise was :use VPN" Junk game.Ppl are trolling game with not playing and passive hanging on game and when you tell them to "get out" you will be banned like 200hrs.Thank God this game is not my life aim so I really don't care their banning at all Soon they will add " pay $$$ tank coins and we will do auto play for you to win the game...Very Bad

I have never seen such an amazing amount of completely dumb players. They keep throwing money at the game just to compete (not to win) and doing that they never ever learn any skill. Unfortunately it is a team game, and you will often get these useless teammates which will frustrate you to death. Terrible managers, terrible moderators, terrible players.

I am an eSports player and i recently joined a team that is actually decent but the shaft player is kinda weird. One time he went afk and he had his microphone opened he didnt know and i heard him moaning yes coach keep it right there go full in! After that i never stay alone with him on call also if somehow you see him on the battlefield i recommend you to leave the battle. His nickname is Slay

I started playing this game to play with my sons for the most part. I can't say there has been any amount of time that I have actually enjoyed the game. I've been playing for about three weeks now and I have noticed a lot of reviews saying there isn't an influx of new players. There is a good reason for that. You can't count on your own team mates. You can't spawn without getting spawnkilled, something that is not allowed in most games. This isn't in deathmatch, just a regular quick battle. I'm still getting the hang of my controls, so it's obvious I'm a new player to this game. The frustration of constantly getting spawnkilled and having 0 team support is why new players don't stick around. I don't think it's because of the pay to play experience, because most players are used to that by now. You either do it or you don't, but there is no reason to target new players for this kind of behavior. It definitely gives one the feeling that new players are not welcome and not tolerated well. I know dealing with a new player can be frustrating, because as a new player trying to familiarize myself with this format is an experience by itself, but having the same players regardless of team pull this crap is a clear sign that new players aren't welcome. If you want new players, this isn't how it happens.

I wish I can teleport back in the past just so I can play good old tanki online, I didn't have to deal with power difference (me 4000 tank power against 9999), the rank difference (me First Lieutenant against Marshals and Commanders and Legends), the prices in-game are sick, who the fruck wants 250$ worth of tankoins and why is it so hard to earn tank coins. if I calculate that I get 24 tank coins a week and 96 tank coins a month, it would take me 8 munts of non-stop playing to buy 5 useless boxes that cost 700 tank coins which are 16euro .....
playing is impossible because of this useless matchmaking system I end up in a game with 700power and 7000 power what the fruck......

this game has been ruined. i remember the good old days. whose idea was to ruin this game. Like why every tank look like it is level max. Please bring back old tanki online

If I am to give one 'constructive' advice on this, as the review so asks of me, I can say one thing.

Reverting the game to how it was in, I don't know precisely, 2015-2017 maybe, would certainly make everything more pleasant. It would not make so much profit, though I suppose even now it's quite low with the small player base.

There is no more to it. It's not difficult to extract the useful complaints: pay to win and unfair.

If it was not for greed, I would admire this game again if it came back to the old, unfurnished, unalterable gameplay for each player.

Unbalanced, server lag, needs a lot of money, no pleasure to play.
Hey, tankionline team, you better start doing something else, game programming is not for you. How about collecting garbage (like this game), washing windows, cutting woods, jobs you have skills for.

This game is shht. Only play if you have money for drugs. Otherwise its pointless and you get beaten by druggers

Unbalanced, used to be good now it is a trash, you have to pay a lot to play decent. Stuff you buy it useless after a while because they change the game parametters.
Nowaday no fun at all to play.

Horrible matchmaking battles. Typically they put a lot of premium buyers on one side and a lot of lower ranked people on the other side. I am typically 1st place on my team all the time, and we're the losing team, because we're not buyers. There's a lot of lag and the people who pay money are too overpowered.

Really bad after removing flash player. The game is pay to win and the matchmaking is trash. Get higher ranks and pay to win players.

Alright, there's a lot to write about here.
So for starters, i'm gonna list what tanki has changed or added to make it what it is now. Also about experience, I have played this game for quite a few years now so I am definitely eligible to leave a review. Not sure the exact year count but definitely before missions were added at all. Anyway onto the list. (Keep in mind, some of this may only be understood if you already know the game)
1: Horrible matchmaking
So in the earlier days of Tanki, the way to battle was a simple battle list where anyone could host a battle for people around the same rank as them. This battle gave you all the info you needed, like what the current scores were and who was in what team, what the map was, specific rules set, and like a million other things. It was very easy to pick what you wanted to play.
Tanki has luckily still kept this battle list feature, however the main form of battling is through randomized matchmaking as missions can only be completed through these. I don't mind the actual idea of matchmaking but in Tanki it is absolutely broken. The waiting time is ok but the kind of matches you get put in can be completely stupid. The main thing is that you incredibly often get put with max rank players who have the max upgrades available in the game as well as hundreds if not thousands of hours to hone their skills. This can make things incredibly tough until the later ranks, especially when it comes to certain missions. I won't go too much more into the battles in this part of the list as it was just about how dumb the matchmaking is.
2: Pay to win
This has been said a lot about this game but i'll mention it anyway. The easiest way to not get thrashed is to pay absurd amounts of money, or get incredibly skilled. I don't mean to brag, or maybe I do, but I have had to go for the latter as I am not exactly rich. However even skill can not triumph the sheer equipment available to pay to win players. In fact, pay to win players can even gain access to certain hulls, drones and weapons earlier than their full release, which is often over-powered. I will touch more on balance in this next part.
3: The worst balancing i've seen in any game.
This is a big one, lots of the equipment in Tanki is so damn strong, I genuinely question why the devs dont do something to change it. And even when they do, the change does nothing. This might be because the toxic playerbase (which I will also touch on later) always complains when even the slightest of nerfs happens to their favourite op turret or hull. There's a lot of meta combinations in the game, as well as obvious best equipment. Combinations like freeze and hornet allow for freeze to do the highest dps possible in the game iirc if you activate the overdrive. You can melt even the juggernaut in mere seconds. I do have a particular drone I want to talk about, which is the crisis drone. This is only available through huge luck or lots of money, of course. It is by far the strongest drone in the game, and can eliminate any weakness for any combination of equipment like what i just said, hornet and freeze is a great combo, however hornet has low health. But with crisis drone, you can give your armor an extra boost which allows it to tank shots from shafts. Which is crazy because shaft is one of the most unbalanced weapons too, and heaps of people use it and hide in the corner. There are like trillions of campers every game using fat hulls with shaft because shaft basically insta kills. However I am wondering if magnum is even more over-powered, as you can hide in any part of a map, behind the tallest of walls and still hit anywhere in the map, the ultimate campers weapon. Camping is way too beneficial and easy to do, so everyone does it.
4: Everyone in the game has issues.
I didnt just want to say the playerbase is toxic, which it is, but its also about the devs. The devs do not care about the playerbase whatsoever, they do not listen to anyone and what they have to say about things that need changes. The players themselves are incredibly toxic, and the chat is often spammed with racial slurs or the usual language of toxic 5 year olds. The in-game battle chat is not moderated unlike the main one, so people are free to have no consiquences in it. The report button does nothing and is only there for visuals basically, as a pathetic excuse that the devs do care if people violate the rules. There are moderators, but they're barely active and often it takes them like a full hour to react to offenses. And even when they do, its incredibly inconsistent how good they are at their job. There's been people spamming links to sketchy stuff constantly and only get muted for 5 minutes whilst others get month bans for saying one swear word.

I have a lot lot more to say, but I have reached the character limit. I still play, cant explain why cuz of character limit.
