My experience at Balham Ten Dental yesterday
I recently visited Ten Dental Balham and felt disappointed with their approach to treatment planning and cost transparency. As both a nurse of 34 years and a patient, I expected a more collaborative discussion regarding my treatment options. Instead, I felt obligated to proceed with a recommended treatment plan that included tests such as ultrasounds and scans, which I did not feel were necessary. I was not given the opportunity to express my concerns, and it seemed as though the focus was more on the financial aspect rather than patient-centered care.
While Dr. Charlie was a pleasant and professional dentist, the system in place did not demonstrate a commitment to involving patients in decision-making. For example, my treatment plan requires an initial expenditure of nearly £2,000 for consultations, scans, x-rays, and hygiene procedures—prior to the removal of two screws and debonding, which alone will cost more than £500. Despite filling out a pre-appointment form outlining my concerns, these were not addressed by either the staff or the practitioner.
Additionally, I was required to sign a treatment plan that included multiple x-rays and scans amounting to £309, which had not been discussed during my consultation. The entire experience felt misleading, and the administrative staff appeared to be trained to prioritize financial gain over patient-centered communication.
I am sharing this feedback to inform potential patients that they should anticipate a minimum expenditure of £2,500 to £5,000 for treatment at Ten Dental Balham. Transparency and patient involvement are crucial aspects of healthcare, and I hope that future patients are given the opportunity to make fully informed decisions regarding their treatment.
