Really their service is a joke
Really their service is a joke, and most people use it because there isn’t many alternatives. The matching bid issue is a real problem plus their auction houses can get away with showing no actual descriptions and using photos that can misrepresent the condition of an item. I've also lost count of the number of times I've 'asked a question' of the auction and not had a reply.
Funniest thing though is their answers to their reviews - have you noticed they just use standard paragraph replies? They can't even be bothered to have someone read them, it's AI crawling through and offering thanks for the positive (the ‘amazing treasures’ one) and vapid platitudes for negatives. Bid direct if you can (many auction houses have a version of an online platform now) as you'll pay less and get a better service.
Cue the ‘….We truly care about our customers and we always aim to provide the best service possible….’ reply. ;)

Be aware ( matching bid you don’t win)
So , used this site and bid ( using the my max bid for 4 items -
Watched as lost first one last week no probs - then 3 others were today
My max bid won 3 out of 3 , so thought ok .
But guess what, the third item at Mendip auctions ( lot 55 ) a bid identical to my max bid £160.00 was matched in the room ? And that is the winner .
Now , if I had lost by a penny or a pound no issue but this is shall we say taking the pee .
So my last time using Sale room after these transactions ( and failed matching bid transaction ) as it’s made me realise it’s just not a fair playing field and this is bizarre as to how justified .
I have given one star as zero was not available
Ps seen your standard reply - good bye waste of time - to everyone out there other websites available but to be honest bored with the auctions world as not level playing field as proved today

Saleroom efficiency The Saleroom.com is the most efficient…
The Saleroom.com is the most efficient and reliable way of bidding on line for auction items. I find them invaluable and use them constantly, so much simpler than having endless separate accounts with different auctioneers

Never again. Cancelled service as they are a complete disservice to their customers
There are better online auction sites. Do yourself a favour. Use the others.
Not first issue with Saleroom. No customer service line, only chat & email. Simple - and I mean simple [how do I add a new card to my account simple] - problem never resolved, despite multiple emails over many days, some with incorrect or useless "assistance".
While trying to resolve the aforementioned issue. Saleroom also provided out of date information to an auction house, which has caused auction house to ship to an old address. This despite their own website showing correct information. Item still missing.

Great customer care experience!
The customer service agent who answered my question was very helpful and explained the matter clearly. His reply was also prompt. This is definitely the best auction website that I have used.

The live bidding did not work
The live bidding did not work. The video stream was live and working, hearing the person increasing sale price but the price on saleroom website did not update or give chance to bid more than once. Then suddenly the item is passed, but after calling auction house they claim it was sold. Seems to be some very shady practices in play.
I see a brand management PR response below. No response to my query through email, or aim to resolve the matter. Big disappointment, no reliability in service, wont be using this site anymore.

Beware of their computer system
I retracted 2 bids after realising that the condition wasn't worth the starting price (plus 30% fees) on auction closed, I'm invoiced for one of them saying I've won the auction. I have contacted them and after slow responses they are claiming that they have no information regarding that. I'm now in a position to be seeking legal advice. Beware!

Saleroom is a one sided platform that…
Saleroom is a one sided platform that favours the auction house blindly. It enables auction house misbehaviour, a lot of whom are only after your money and least collaborative in getting shipping or any other solution, especially to new buyers. I had three occasions when the auction houses presented me with an absurd shipping quote (thrice the value of the product itself, a train set), unresponsiveness and plain misbehaviour. On all occasions the platform support kept stalling on the pretext of being unable to reach the house in question or being unable to understand the issue or just replying late to my mails and asking me to verify again despite the continuing mail chain. I have no qualms to say that you are dealing with crooks here who often overvalue items, overcharge on commissions, demand payment without rendering any meaningful services, leave you hanging on key issues like shipping and then have the gall to charge you for the storage cost. My advice is to deal with them deftly and strictly. The more we would withhold payments the more they will try and get their actions straight. It's the customer who is doing them a favour by bidding while these guys are fleecing both us and the people who are selling their wares through them. Period
Edit:
'Above and beyond' you say, or more like 'AWOL and weak.' if you have the guts, allow the bidders to rate the auction houses and place a block. Till then, not a penny more from me.

Saleroom hosts auction houses that sells fakes
This is still an ongoing issue - major company that takes money and feels a few policies puts themselves above any law.
Purchased three paintings via their site (Saleroom) and, when appraised, they were fakes.
As I got nowhere with the house that had been on The Sale Room for 10 months I ontacted The Sale Room only to find they too would not do much apart from email the house!.
The Sale Room allows auction houses to hide behind their platform and sell fake items. The auction house will misrepresent items and leaves the buyer without recourse. What do the Sale Room do about vetting houses as I only purchased the paintings as they were listed via The Saleroom and trusted this site, what a mistake!

ALERT!! ALERT!! - ALERT! - SYSTEM Glitch / COLLAPSE MEANS BIDDERS WHO THOUGHT THEY WON END UP PAYING MUCH MORE AS Saleroom RESTARTED THE AUCTION CLOCK AFTER YOU WON THE ITEM!
An appalling selling service and experience. I genuinely need to alert others using this platform to a serious issue affecting bidders. This evening 7.Aug.2024 I placed a number of bids with the WELSHPOOL AUCTION rooms. i won all my lots placing bids 3 or so seconds before the end. HOWEVER i noticed after appearing to win 2 lots the clock reset itself to 10 minutes thus bidders could then place bids when the auctions should have ended. It never happened once but with one lot the clock reset back to 10 minutes 5 times!!!! YES 5 TIMES!......PLEASE CHECK YOUR ACTIVITY IF YOU LEFT BIDS the dangers you never won them for the correct price!! if i noticed it with 2 lots and who knows how may others have been made to PAY EXTRA due to saleroom.com adding EXTRA TIME onto lots when is was suppose to be a timed auction as i laugh to myself!!!!! BEWARE USE THE PLATFORM WITH CAUTION! IT'S THE LAST TIME I SHALL BE USING IT!!! Very suspicious!!! I WANT THE CORRECT WINNING BID TO BE ACCEPTED, NOT THE WINNING BID 50 MINUTES AFTER AUCTION WAS SUPPOSE TO HAVE ENDED WHEN THE SYSTEM RESET ITSELF 5 TIMES IN ONE INSTANCE - I HAVE SCREEN SHOT AND VIDEOED PROOF!!! I am genuinely very angry and frustrated i have been shafted for several hundred of ££££££ more!! i will be reporting the issue to the 'Ombudsman' if issue not resolved.,.,**** as one can note from Saleroom.com reply below. They could not care less about the issue just replying with a standard issue response. I strongly advise bidders to use Easylivecom. A fairer and more user friendly auction site.
