The course is really well run and efficient.
The study material is very well produced, interesting and engaging.
The assignments are marked really quickly with appropriate and helpful guidance.
I am really enjoying the course and feel very motivated by it.
The quality of the materials is high and the tutor feedback is excellent and timely
I am thoroughly enjoying this course. It is everything I’d hoped it would be! I have leant so much about the different periods of art. I like the way each module opens with a general summary of what is happening in the world at that point in history, as this, obviously, affects the art of that time. I made lots of notes from each module and reread the information a few times before thinking about answering the questions. There are some really useful links provided to extend your knowledge. They were useful to listen to when you want a break from reading! Stephen Farthing is always very prompt in marking your assignments. I have bought lots of wonderful new books, often by the author of the module I am working on, which I found really helped. I have looked at art with a whole new understanding when I’ve had the opportunity to visit art galleries. Overall, the course is really broadening my outlook into the history of art and I am loving learning so much.
10 modules in I can say that this on-line Art Appreciation Course has been unique. It’s a MUST for anyone interested in learning about Art and Art History who needs to do the work necessary in their own time, and it’s stretching, stimulating and thoroughly enjoyable!
The modular course structure and scope has been well thought through, and the academic content supporting it is high quality, interesting, and accessible.
The on line system and process works very well and is easy to use, and the tutorial system of marking and feedback is fantastic! My tutor Libby Anson, and Stephen Farthing a couple of times when Libby has been away, have both been marvellous. Super fast and efficient assessing each module and giving honest, but challenging and supportive feedback.
Student support has also been very efficient, responsive and helpful.
All in all a uniquely enjoyable and stimulating experience! Thank you!
I have enjoyed the course content so far (up to module 5) and been introduced to some new eras of art about which I knew very little. This has inspired me to read further around the subject and to visit a number of galleries and exhibitions.
I have also been very impressed with the marking of the assignments and the valuable feedback I have received.
This course is brilliant. It's not easy, and you also need to do your own research, but it is SO rewarding. Five stars also to the tutors and the support staff, who have all been fantastic
This is a fabulous course for anyone who has an interest in art. The long history of art is explored right up until the present day, from historical to contemporary art. It contextualises art within each time period, from plagues to wars, political social and economic changes.
Each module is packed with in depth information, art images and links for further reading and research if one wants to delve further.
It is also challenging at times but the tutors are very helpful and encouraging. Each assignment has a very quick turnaround with detailed assessments from the tutor. There is also a Facebook group for students and it is very useful.
I have learned so much from this course and most of all I’ve a much better appreciation of art that adds to my enjoyment as a museum visitor or creating my own art.
The course is interesting and well structured. I have learned a great deal from it. I am less in tune with the later modules but that is more a question of my engagement with modern art than any fault with the course.
My tutor is supportive and responsive. He marks my assignments and provides feedback expeditiously.
The website and course materials are clear and easy to use.
When called on for help the student support team reacts in a friendly and efficient manner.
Very interesting material.
Good, efficient support from the supervisor
The Art Institute's diploma course is easy to follow and very insightful. Taking out the overhead of the unattainable and lengthy knowledge of the history of western art.
I have completed the first 5 modules of the programme, and am genuinely loving it. One of the best things about the course is that it makes you look at, understand, and truly appreciate, artists whom you would never have considered before. I have a much better understanding of whole centuries of art about which I previously knew nothing.
The feedback from my tutor, Stephen, is also excellent - each time, nudging me to a better answer the next time.
I would highly recommend this course.
The Art Institute course has been both fascinating and rewarding and I cannot recommend it too highly. The notes provided, written by specialists in each field, are easily accessible and I have thoroughly enjoyed researching the answers to each assignment which have been promptly marked by my outstanding tutor, Stephen Farthing who has provided both pertinent advice and constructive feedback.
I have enjoyed the first 10 modules of the course greatly.
I feel that i have learned a huge amount about each period covered. The resources are excellent and further reading has signposted me to in depth and fascinating reading.
My tutor support via feedback has been exceptionally useful. I feel that the style in which I write about art and my thoughts on this have improved and expanded throughout the course.
I have ventured into areas
I have never considered previously when pursuing reading for the modern and contemporary art modules.
I would highly recommend this course to any one with an interest or curiosity about art and art history.
I have found the course fascinating and enlightening and the support of the tutor invaluable.
The course has consistently remained informative and relevant for my interests. It has given me the tools to appreciate and understand an art work.
The course has stretched my abilities to write assignments in the allotted word count forcing me to focus on the question and my responses.
My tutor has always responded promptly and given relevant feedback. An amazing course.
I am loving every moment of this history of art course. I have learnt so much and the course materials and background reading resources are excellent, making the process very easy. My tutor marks my work very quickly and I always value the in depth feedback he provides
For someone with no background in art this was a great in depth introduction to the main themes in western art during the last 500 years. The tutors are helpful and are quick to mark the assessments. Thou rightly recommend to anyone wanting to know more about art!!!
Love the course. I’ve always enjoyed visiting galleries but this course has resulted in greater enjoyment as I now understand how the styles evolved.
The tutor’s feedback and quick responses have supported and expanded my developing knowledge.
My only reason for not awarding 5 out of 5 is wishing there was more than 12 months to complete it.
It presents new challenges and invites students to research and explore new horizons.
Excellent and detailed feedback on assignments.
I have thoroughly enjoyed learning from the booklets, which I always print as I don't take in information so well from a screen, and my own extra research. I am generally motivated but this can lapse without personal contact to nudge me on. I have been pleasantly surprised by feedback as I don't always feel I have quite hit the question. I feel much better informed about art I see around me and am glad I chose to follow the course. It may well take me longer to complete than I hope as I work at the same time.
