I attended Mamma Mia show! with my pensioner mother and disabled sister, as part of celebrations. Sadly, what should have been a lovely evening turned into a very uncomfortable and upsetting experience.
From the moment we were shown to our seats, one staff member in particular made us feel uneasy by repeatedly staring and behaving in a way that felt unnecessary and intimidating. Rather than feeling welcomed, we felt scrutinised.
What was most disappointing was how the situation was later handled. We were questioned about alcohol only as we were leaving the theatre — not on entry. This clearly shows that these “enquiries” were not about preventing outside alcohol from being consumed inside the venue, but instead felt like an argumentative afterthought. If this was a genuine concern, it should have been addressed appropriately at the point of entry, not raised when we were already exiting.
The show itself was enjoyable, but the atmosphere created by staff completely overshadowed what was meant to be a special celebration.
I have since raised a formal complaint, but overall this experience has left me extremely disappointed. Customer service and professionalism were seriously lacking on this occasion.

The staff are so rude, made me and the group i was with to feel so uncomfortable, targets us as a group all show for nothing really. there attitude is disgusting and the lack in customer service, everything was a problem.
The show however was great! just the staff that let it down.

We’ve been to many performances here. The staff are always friendly and helpful. Beautifully restored building with plenty of legroom.

This theatre is amazing. Heather at the box office went above and beyond and was very kind and helpful. We had the most amazing night and cannot thank the theatre enough. Amazing bunch of people and a beautiful theatre.

In the 10 years I've been a member of this theatre I have NEVER been subjected to such ableist and disgusting treatment. I am on the autistic spectrum and partially deaf, both i had explained when i purchased my ticket. I was subject to abuse and disgusting language by people in front of me, however so as to not cause a scene I remained silent. On my early departure (after being shooed and ushered out) i was accosted by 5 members of staff and completely made to feel like i was in the wrong. I find the way I was "dealt" with ableist and disgusting. The staff are some of the most insensitive and lack of understanding people I've ever had the misfortune to meet. You're staff need some serious training in the way they should treat disabled people. I've never felt so embarrassed and discriminated against in my life.

The show however was amazing before I missed the ending.

Beautiful theatre, fantastic and friendly staff and an easy to use website and booking system. Great selection of shows, looking forward to my next visit.

Yesterday my friend and I went to see west side story.
It was out of this world the acting singing was fantastic. They were amateurs my goodness in fact they were better than the real thing it was so so enjoyable we could have sat through it twice.

Costumes wonderful staging in fact all of it 500%….

Also again thank you to all the staff in every dept I thank you yet again for your help kindness smiles in all you do… everyone I never forget the cleaners …. Imagine if no rubbish or toilets cleaned..

Booked tickets in January for april performance. Digital tickets and totally forgot about them. Theatre sent one email before event that went straight to junk folder, it had title that looked like spam. Result i missed performance and wasted £36. Never book a Digital ticket again and never go to theatre royal again, other theatres give you multiple email reminders and make them look important and not spam.

Had a wonderful time with the family, a great space and a great time out in Newcastle - will be back to catch some Christmas shows xoxo

Dropped my wife and disabled daughter off, which was difficult because there is nowhere safe to stop.All nearby car parks shut or full. By the time I got there the doors were locked and there was now way to contact anyone. Disgusting. Complete waste of money. Avoid at all costs.

My first trip out after cancer treatment was to see Joseph and his Technicolour Dreamcoat, I was very nervous as I am immunosuppressed following cancer treatment and booked a private box for myself and 3 friends.

I had contacted the theatre before my visit for assistance and staff were absolutely fantastic and made my visit not only safe but very special. We loved our private box experience too, something I will definitely do again.

I would definitely return for another show and can’t thank Camilla enough for organising things to keep me as safe as possible and for all the staff who looked after us. Thank you all.

Absolutely amazing staff. I became unwell before the performance started and was taken to a different seat so if I needed to I could leave without disturbing other people.
Attentive and very caring.
