Having had green thumb for a number of…

Having had green thumb for a number of years I was happy to have 3 times a year . The price has gone up which I appreciate most things have gone up but this double treatment without my knowledge was a crafty upgrade I didn’t ask for . I will now be cancelling and finding an alternative, just under £400 for weedkiller is just too expensive for my purse . Disappointed with you greenthumb been loyal but you took advantage.

I’m green thumb took my weedy old lawn away and reseeded and helped me grow a new lawn last year. They have provided advice and treatments and my lawn is looking great.
Always available on the phone and very helpful team, thank you Green Thumb.

Appalling service

Appalling service. My father booked to have his drive cleaned using chemicals, it didn’t look any cleaner after so he asked them to redo it as he wasn’t going to pay for it. They have rebooked and cancelled THREE times now. I don’t know what’s going on with this company but they won’t have any customers left soon. I’m surprised they are still in business, at the rate they are going they won’t be for much longer.

Disgusted in this company

Disgusted in this company, signed up last year to 5 call outs throughout the year, carried out from August so 3 together towards the end of the year into the beginning of this year, then nothing!!!!! Called them a couple of weeks ago and asked for my next treatment as the garden was now worse than the year before so all felt like a total waste of money. Received 2 texts and an email to notify me my treatments would now be £45 each however still no visit. Greenthumbs finally came out Tuesday and did my treatment of the lawns, an hour later I received an email with an invoice for £84. On ringing them I was told that they had done 2 treatments, this was without my knowledge or consent, customer Service informed me that I had to pay it despite no prior notification that they were doing this. I have now cancelled the account and will never use them again. I asked for a further call from a manager and obviously no one as even bothered to call me back. I’m honestly disgusted that they think they can go ahead and just do this without even asking the customer if it’s ok to do that, and as I pay each treatment at the time I now have an £84 bill to find.

Shocking service shocking company

Shocking service shocking company. We signed up 5 years ago with a good lawn we wanted to maintain. We have gradually watched it deteriorate whilst paying for the privilege. We now have patches of rye grass that look awful when the lawn is cut, I complained but nothing was done. We have dead patches and were told we have leather jackets, twice they said they would contact us with a cost to treat them, we never received a price so the issue is getting worse. I went online to cancel, funnily enough I couldn’t find a way to do that, I emailed them to advise how, they responded but didn’t offer a way to cancel. So I cancelled the direct debit and this got a response. For some reason we have to pay them to cancel.

No longer worth the money

I was a customer for over 10 years. But in recent years they have put up their costs dramatically and I am not willing to pay £50 a month for what they do. They visited me about 4 times a year, 3 of which were just spraying chemicals on the lawn, the other was scarification. But last year they didn’t do the scarification due to bad weather. Plus the year before that my lawn was ruined by chafer grubs, which apparently is extra to sort out. What they do is money for old rope. The money you save will buy you a scarification machine, the chemicals and nematodes required for a great lawn with money to spare. Use them if you are wealthy, have no time or have a lawn that the only alternative is relaying turf, and are willing to wait 2 years to see the benefit, otherwise it’s a simple job to do it yourself.

Disappointed in the results.

Happy with the frequency they turned up and advice given however poor results. Lawn is 7 years old and has been absolutely covered in moss and looks discussing.
Looks like the moss treatment hasn’t worked and now I’m frustrated and spending additional money to try and revive. Think I’ll stop paying and try myself. Disappointed in the results.

AVOID - lacks customer responsiveness

Their systems are all IT based, they are completely unresponsive when you are not able to meet their requirements. Their chat line is hidden at the bottom right hand corner of their www with NO indication as to what it is. They restrict your capacity to get in touch. There is NO communication between departments. You get automated responses which then never lead to an actual response to the queries. There is no timeliness in their approach. It’s basically like the David Williams sketch “computer says no!” The ONLY way is to phone them, have all your details to hand and wait for someone to answer - the person at that end of the phone is actually a helpful and responsive human - such a shock!
Find someone local is the best solution. It will cost you less and save a lot of wasted time trying to get their systems to respond to you - because basically they just don’t; or IF they do, it is well after when you need them to. AVOID!!!

Unreliable and poor results

We had green thumb for a few years, the garden did improve and it looked better than the neighbours, however the last year they have been awful. They don’t turn up when they say they are and they have ruined my grass. I cancelled my subscription in pure frustration, safe to say they didn’t care and let me leave.

This was Nottingham

THEY NEVER RING BACK

Tried three times to get someone to ring us back from Green Thumb. No one bothered so we gave up in the end. If this is their customer service, I'm glad we didn't bother. They clearly don't need the business! Have now gone elsewhere.

Awful experience; a Total rip off

I had had a contract with Green Thumb for several years but had increasingly felt that their treatments were poor and a waste of money. Last Summer they scarified my lawn and destroyed it. A staff member came and assured me it would look wonderful in the spring (ie now). I wasn’t convinced and stopped my direct debit payments but had to pay about £72 to get them off my back. This spring 80% of my lawn is dead; just long strands of straw, so I have had to pay a gardener £85 to rescue it by raking and mowing the dead grass, reseeding and covering with lawn topsoil.

I requested an appointment as a new customer via their website and was told my local Greenthumb team would "reach out" to me to arrange an appointment to visit and provide a quote. Unfortunately I'm still waiting so won't be bothering now. If they're this unreliable with new customers, it doesnt bode well for any future work.

I really wish we had read the reviews…

I really wish we had read the reviews here before paying for all our treatments. Admittedly our grass had started to look really healthy, until November when the scarification process left us with a very badly damaged lawn that was mainly just mud rather than grass, not to mention the absolute mess that they left behind afterwards. After almost 4 months of going back and forth we finally got Greenthumb to agree to get our grass reseeded as a ‘gesture of goodwill.’ Conveniently the damage was then blamed on leather jackets, despite there being no evidence and the damage not being consistent of leather jacket damage. We naively paid for the leather jacket treatment but sought other advice from a local company who advised it was not leather jackets but the scarification that caused the damage. I have terminated our contract and asked for a refund of the months we have paid for since November, this has been declined and we have been advised to ‘look out for cranefly’s in the summer’ - complete waste of money, and the grass seed that was applied did absolutely nothing.
