I’ve done several writing courses; including Faber and Curtis Brown, but the Novelry is altogether unique. It is more than going through the do’s and don’ts of writing according to a blueprint; how to cut adjectives and keep pace, how to write character.
Writing something true to oneself, that resonates with readers, is what makes a classic, a success. This is done by delving into ones own treasure of hidden history. Peeling back the layers. Encouraged to read widely, not just contemporary novels, but myth and legends, showed how they are the root of all novels. Add a bit of fairy dust and my writing has picked up several gears, it flows, and I have found my own style of writing.

I had a dream to write and The Novelry took me by my inexperienced hand and lead me with warmth, humour, generosity, a firm grip, a down-to-earth and realistic programme and here I am. My very own novel. I have done a few writing courses and none of them come close to the holistic/wraparound concept of The Novelry. There is a sense of joy and warmth, generosity and realism to everyone associated with The Novelry and what it takes to write. It comes across in the lessons, the classes and the community Louise and crew have created. It is the best thing I could have done to help me move forward in my dream to write.

Apart from teaching storytelling, editing and how to grow an idea into a published piece of work, The Novelry is a warm, supportive place for people at all stages of writing. Membership of The Novelry has exceeded my expectations and enriched my life.

Engaging, confidence building, supportive and not to be missed. If you are serious about writing a novel, you need this course. If you are struggling with your novel you need this course. Amazing support from all concerned, from Louise's vlogs to tutor authors and all the other lovely people taking this course sharing their feeling/thoughts as they go further and further through the course. I now feel I can finish my novel to a high standard.

The Novelry is a brilliant, inspiring and life-changing place to be. Having been wrestling with my story idea and several misfiring starts to it since 2016 by myself, I finally joined the Novelry late last year (2020). This July (2021) I finally completed the first draft - and as a story it has utterly transformed, becoming much stronger and more the story I want to tell. The biggest thing I've learned is that anyone can be good at writing but learning how to tell a compelling story, that's where the art truly comes in. The Novelry offers engaging, practical and supportive advice in the course content and all the other sessions run around the courses themselves. And in the fellow writers and the tutors you get THE BEST cheerleaders and supporters you could ever wish for. Do it. It'll be the best decision you make for your novel!

As I work through The Book In a Year program, The Novelry is the guidance, inspiration, and encouragement that I always wished that I'd received when I started to write many moons ago. I wish I'd learnt what you have taught me when I did my creative writing degree twenty years ago. Hands down the best decision I ever made in pursuing my writing dreams. Thank you!

It took me six years to write my first novel, but with the Novelry, I wrote a complete draft in one hundred days! It’s not only the hugely addictive course content that sets it apart but the instant sense of belonging – the tribe. The Novelry is the type of community you didn’t even know you craved. You’ll find fellow writers, author tutors, editorial experts and Louise Dean, the Mother Hen of the whole writer’s den. Every single player is genuine, masterful and passionate about writing. The Novelry is more than a course, it’s a lifestyle, and it’s the best investment I’ve ever made.

Joining The Novelry is the best thing I have ever done for my writing. The courses are quality, the support both warm and effective. My novel is now in editing before submission to agents and I have learned so much. Highly recommend.

It's an excellent course, full of inspiration, encouragement and engagement to take your writing to the next level. I believe I have improved my writing more in the last couple of months than I have in several years. I've never written with such consistency, and it feels like I opened a flood gate.
I've been struggling to write my novel for years now, and this course (along with the amazing staff, tutors, and fellow writers) helped me to not only get it out but also to improve the story and characters to the next level. Doing a lesson each day was much easier than I had expected, and writing each day became a habit without much effort. Absolutely worth every penny, and I can't wait to continue onto the next course! :)
The Novelry changed me from someone-who-likes-to-write into a writer.
The in-depth courses are well-structured, the tutors are experienced and genuinely want to help you reach your writing goals, and the community is supportive, engaged and welcoming.
You will not only find the tools and knowledge you need to be a writer at The Novelry, you will also find a group of people who will help you find your voice and give you the confidence to use it.

Following the Ninety Day Novel Course has been a joy from start to finish. I am now halfway through a first draft of a novel - had I followed all the advice about the daily routine I would have finished it, but the course has left me equipped with the knowledge I need to get it done, and the support and determination to do it. The course material is varied and inspiring, the tutors always helpful and encouraging and you get to know a friendly, supportive community of other writers along the way. Fantastic.

The Novelry is the right combination of theory and practical advice, thought experiments and practical exercises. Ever wish you could have your favorite writer walk you through how to write and publish a book? Well, you can't have that...but The Novelry may just be better! Each lesson left me reeling. Idea after idea flowed out of my mind, and later lessons would help me pick and choose elements for my story. Worth every penny!

This is simply the best course on novel writing currently available. Forget doing an MA in creative writing - sign up to the Novelry instead. It's not only better but cheaper. Award winning novelist Louise Dean has really thought about all the ingredients required to create a perfect, marketable novel.
When I came to the Novelry I had already done an MA in Screenwriting (which was a waste of time and money) and had two books of poetry published as well as several sell out stage shows - what I learned at the Novelry however has changed my approach to writing and also made me realise that I am first and foremost a story teller and novelist. There is no going back now - I just want to write books.
I first took the Novel in 90 days which was so well thought out and useful with daily videos, story telling exercises as well as brilliant analyses of classic texts that this course was a reward in itself.
There are also brilliant one to one tutorials available with one of the many acclaimed novelists who have signed up as tutors. I was then sure I was on the right track and signed up for the Big Edit course where I began to edit and polish my material. I am now looking at my first novel getting published.
When Louise says in her introduction "welcome home writers." she means it - this is the place where you belong and where you will thrive. If you are having any doubts about whether to do an expensive MA or sign up to the Novelry - do yourself a favour and come home to where you belong - The Novelry.
There were times I felt like an atheist at Sunday School when taking The Classic Course, and there were times when a light went off. I suspect the times I felt like an atheist will be the most useful, and that's why I recommend it: it pushes you to to push yourself.
I am currently working through their novel 90 days course, sorry I can only give them 5 stars they are superb, the quality of their teaching material is excellent and the speed with which they respond to emails is top notch.
If you are looking for a creative writing course this is without doubt the place to go, excellent.
This course was like going on a wonderful, magical journey, full of inspiration. It was a hands-on, helpful guide through the nitty-gritty of laying the foundation for writing a classic novel.

A truly enjoyable and enlightening course that is designed so that you take all the time you need to absorb the content. A bit of soul searching is required at times but this is no bad thing. You will have to dig deep to recall emotions and memories from childhood that will help you unlock all the shiny best bits from the rest of the course. If your intentions are to go on and write your own novel or if you just want to learn what elements the great stories have in common, then I can't recommend this course highly enough. So treat yourself, treat someone else. This course will be the gift that keeps on giving.
