The tree looked beautiful with leaves and peaches, many which fell off in transit as expected. I was a bit surprised that the tree had leaves, since none of outr trees here in Vermont are showing any... See more

Excellent Customer Service
I had a plant come on the absolute coldest day in December (below zero) and despite my getting to the package within an hour and the cold-safe packaging, the plant was too frozen to save. The Sill customer service was quick with a reply and sent a new plant out to replace the one that had died. My only complaint was that the replacement wasn’t sent out right away-however, it was the holidays and I was not in need of it in a timely manner, so I understand and didn’t mind the slight delay. I would prefer to rate this experience 4.5/5 stars, not 4/5 stars.
A top shelf nursery
A top shelf nursery. The plants we received are beautiful, well packed, soil was moist. They were received during a cold snap, we bought 2 heat packs that worked great.
The cactus looks almost died…

Fast, easy, and reliable shipping! Item was delivered as described on the website with no damage at all! Would buy again. (For context I delivered a gift from CA to NY in the snow.)

Customer for Life
Sooooo great! I have ordered from The Sill several times to send a lovely plant to someone who has lost a loved one. This time, I accidentally put my address as the shipping address and they worked hard and communicated well to get the address updated with FedEx. So very pleased with the service and the product. Customer for life.
It was easy ordering from The Sill, great customer service
I received my gift card and was able to place an order later that day for 3 plants for my daughter. It saved her the time of looking through the website and selecting the plants herself. She just needed to approve the choices I had made.
Total loss despite refund. Ongoing infestation weeks later.
I ordered 6 plants for over $400 in early December 2024. I've had to throw out 5 of them, and weeks later I'm still dealing with fungus gnat infestations that have spread to my other household plants. The one plant I managed to save is now rotting in multiple places due to pests.
What happened:
Multiple plants arrived with active fungus gnat infestations... adults flying out during unboxing, larvae visible in soil, and gnats of varying sizes caught on sticky traps (indicating active breeding cycles, not random bugs). These shipped in separate boxes, so this wasn't isolated to one batch.
Plants were also physically damaged: broken branches, torn leaves, and covered in dirt from being tossed around during shipping.
I immediately isolated everything and spent weeks on treatments (sticky traps, bottom watering to keep soil dry, constant monitoring). Despite all this, the gnats spread to my other household plants. The plant I thought I'd saved is now rotting.
The real cost:
The Sill refunded most of the purchase after I sent documentation, which I appreciate. But a refund doesn't come close to covering:
- Ongoing pest treatments for my entire home
- Weeks of time spent researching treatments, isolating plants, daily monitoring
- Risk to my other plants that are now infected despite my isolation efforts
- The Isabella planters they shipped don't even work properly (the drainage holes are raised somehow, so water pools around the edges instead of draining). Bad quality.
What I didn't know:
I researched extensively before ordering. Their online reviews were exceptional, which is why I was willing to pay premium prices.
Turns out The Sill closed all 12 of their physical stores in September 2024 after reporting millions in losses and switched entirely to shipping-only right before my order. The reviews I read were probably from when they had local delivery and stores where they could inspect plants before they went out. That company doesn't exist anymore.
Multiple boxes across different plant varieties all arrived infected, so this seems like a bigger problem with their current operations, not just bad luck.
What I learned:
I should've gone to a local nursery where I could inspect plants myself, avoid shipping damage, get healthier stock, and skip the mountains of packaging waste. Lesson learned the expensive way.
The refund doesn't undo the damage or the ongoing problems this caused. No one should have to deal with weeks of pest management in their home.
Shipment was a gift
Shipment was a gift. It was delayed a day after it was out for delivery and arrived in less than optimal condition
My wife loved her plant!
#1 Sevice and Care
I placed my order at the beginning of the month, but the plant's final destination was very cold for the plant. The Sill ensured that the plant was healthy, alive and safe during its travels. The packaging kept the plant warm, like a greenhouse effect.
Good Plants
One plant came upside down but otherwise the person liked their gifts.
