My car has gone into the garage with what was a suspected faulty control module, the garage diagnostic the issue and it was a failed control module. This issue has been fixed and my warranty policy has covered this work. The real issue is during the work to replace the failed module it was discovered that the car has an issue with water ingress on the working loom which was causing the loom and subsequent electric components to fail. The garage and I have had many conversations on how to fix this issue and in the end the garage spoke to BMW Mini direct to find out the best fix. BMW Mini advised was a new wiring loom to be fitted to fix the damaged one. The price of the nee loom including fitting is £1300, of which I'm having to fork out for because you will not cover the work. I have a platinum warranty with the RAC which according to what my details says covered any damage up to £100,000. The question is why am I having to pay for this and why is my policy not covering it?! The work that is being done to my car to fit the new loom is essential and it has to be done as it will just cause further damage to my car.

Timing belt snap. It’s only fair that I’m honest. When my timing belt lost some of its teeth, I was relieved to find out that it was still within the manufacturer time lines. In the first instance the claim was rejected and I got passed from pillar to post claiming it was naturally end of life and therefore not covered. I’m not one to take no for an answer after paying out for warranty and servicing when it needed doing. After providing various documents to prove my case my complaint was honoured and the rejection was changed to approved. My initial review wouldn’t have been one star but Maggie who resolved the issue would have got 5 stars, would I buy another policy from the RAC- Not a chance, would I recommend them - not a chance. Should I have looked at reviews first - 100%.

Having paid for the platinum warranty I was under the impression that I was covered for most issues, barring the obvious wearable parts, brakes, tyres etc.
When I had to claim I was told that half of the work was wearable parts - anti roll bar links. On top of this they requested photos from the garage that took several days for a decision to be made. Also no courtesy car for the small amount of work covered - as it took less than six hours, but they conveniently forgot the two days to make a decision. Final straw was that I had to cover the cost to get the car to the garage.
You can’t win with insurance and warranty companies generally, but these guys really excelled at being s&@t

Absolutely Shocking…. Don’t go to them. They don’t anywhere near the full amount of the claim. No courtesy car cover. They say a job should only take a couple hours. Had to pay half the bill myself.

The garage I brought my car from Car Hunters sold us the RAC warranty and they dealt with my issue and had it sorted. So I can not complain, took my car back to the garage and they sorted the problem and put the claim through.

My advice is to go for another warranty company.
My radiator failed, I sent all of the paperwork in, I was told that as they believed that it was cause by an accident, they refused the claim.
I told them that I had not had an accident and that I was told by the garage that the radiator failed due to a seal coming away making a hole.
They also asked for all of the paperwork at least three times, which was just a delaying tactic

Here you have my response in a very clear way!
Dealing with the RAC is very slow and bureaucratic instead of proactive and helpfull.
Very offputting from a garage perspective as the process was not clear and it felt as though they were reluctant to pay for what is a known, common and straight forward job. The added time and effort from an admin perspective makes me reluctant to carry out any warranty work in the future. Work conducted was explained to the customer to maintain customer satisfaction and confidence and then had to be repeated to multiple people at the RAC. The service recorded requested was irrelevant to this failure and demonstrated distrust in both their customers and the garage completing the work. This has resulted in delays regarding the next piece of work due to concerns about being paid for in-depth and extensive engine work, for what is again a common failure on these engines in multiple vehicle platforms.
Is that sufficient feedback for you?!
The claim is for OY14BYT

No good from start to finish. Don't deal with this company.

My issue was resolved pretty quickly. Had my phone back within 5 working days and it looks as good as new.

From reading reviews I was worried but my experience was absolutely great. My claim (phone stolen) was dealt with very quickly - the phone was stolen on Sunday evening, the claim was approved Thursday morning and the replacement device was delivered on Friday.
I don’t think you can really judge a company until you have the misfortune to have to make a claim and my experience was faultless.

I got an RAC Warranty with our 2009 Burstner Nexxo T660 Motorhome that we bought in August 2022. This motorhome is on a Ford Transit chassis. The warranty is supposed to cover up to £1000 per claim.
Back in June, we travelled from Worksop to Maryport in Cumbria for a weeks holiday. We broke down 1/4 mile from the camp site. Discovered that the bottom crank shaft pulley had broken off. So, this meant that no drive belts were going round. We lost power steering and had no alternator charging etc. Had to get recovered home on the Monday by Green Flag.
I rang up the warranty group to find out how I to get the repair done. They told me I could find any garage to do the work. As long as they were VAT registered. I managed to find a local garage to take it to, and this meant that I could drive it the short distance to this garage.
The garage knew that they would have to ring up the warranty group before repairs could go ahead. When they inspected our motorhome, they found that the power steering pulley had been damaged by the bottom crank shaft pulley when that had failed. But when they told warranty group of this fact. Warranty group said they would NOT pay for the full repair. They said they would only pay for the bottom crank shaft pulley and a portion of the labour costs. They said that the power steering pulley was incidental damage, and therefore they would not pay for it.
The total cost of the repair was just over £603.17, but warranty group would only pay £448.60 of that cost. So this has left me £154.57 out of pocket.
Remember, that my RAC Warranty is supposed to cover up to £1000 per claim.
But it is useless, if they won't even pay out the total of £603.17.
Several people have told me that RAC Warranty, is not worth the paper it is printed on. I would tend to agree with that assessment after our experience.
UPDATE
They said they had raised a complaint for me. This turned out to be a complete waste of time. They came back to me saying they would still NOT pay the full amount of the repair. Claimed the power steering pulley wheel was incidental damage and not covered. I have now sold our motorhome. I told the new owners that it would be a waste of time having the remaining time on the warranty transferred to them. As its NOT WORTH THE PAPER ITS PRINTED ON.

I purchased an RAC Warranty, the paper it's written on is more valuable.
There are so many exclusions, the inclusions are outnumbered.
I consider this warranty to be a wate of £699 and I will NEVER purchase RAC again.

What is the point of having an approved Repairer system, when the repairer wants more than the warranty company are prepared to pay. If you are going to have an approved scheme it should include an agreed schedule of rates so customer don't get unexpected bills. I had a repair which the approved garage said would take 1.5 hours but warranty only pay 0.7 hours. They don't put that on the marketing blurb.

I would definitely recommend protect your bubble. My iPad I smashed the screen on it. Rang them my tablet was collected the next day. Received it 5 days later fully repaired. Staff couldn’t do enough to help.

No problem in getting my Volvo repaired and the costs (replacement of a wheel sensor) were covered by the RAC and no additional charges made for diagnostics. My only gripe however is that despite living in Bristol which is a city with hundreds of decent garages, the only garage that was offered to me through the online app was in Radstock, a 45 minute drive away. The garage also needed to keep the car overnight, so I needed to get the wife to follow me down and then take me down again the next day which was just daft. From speaking to people in the trade it sounds as though the RAC simply don’t pay enough for most garages to want to join the scheme.

Rac warranty are quick and easy to deal with, working for a garage doing warranty claims and also having a policy on my own vehicle most problems are caused by useless garages not diagnosing faults correctly and then wanting unreasonable cost to correct wrongly diagnosis repair. Every claim I have made has been quickly dealt with when submitted with all relevant evidence required that they need to inable them to deal with a claim
