I read all sorts of books I’d never otherwise have discovered. Some of these were unforgettable. Just one of my books was unreadable for me - a promising story but far too violent from the outset.

I loved the surprise element of opening the packaging to see what was in store. I found getting to the end of one book, knowing I was going to have a brand new read dropping through the letter box, was quite exciting It was a birthday present which kept giving!

I was a bit apprehensive about this service, as so many subscription services feel very generic and you pay a lot of money for what appears to be mass produced/mailed.

However, after reading The Willoughby Book Club's website and comparing it with others I felt most confident they could deliver what I wanted and my goodness their subscription is great!

I brought a 12 month subscription for my grandmother who has been an avid reader of whodunit crime novels her whole life. I explained her preferences in great detail in the notes and explained she had read all the works of Agatha Christie and similar authors and waited nervously for her first book (a birthday gift) to arrive... It came and was amazing! The subsequent books have also been outstanding and each month she can't wait for her next one!

I would suggest if you order the subscription to be honest about your reading habits, likes and dislikes - as well as what you have read before to get an accurate subscription but honestly I think this is a stellar gift!

I am surprised to find that receiving a book a month from The Willoughby Book Club is the best thing that happens to me on a regular basis.
I am surrounded by illness and death and I struggle to see the point in it all, but i love receiving the notification that a book is on its way, I love opening the wrapper and I always love the surprise.
