I bought The Harley Benton SC-500 WH Vintage Series a few weeks ago. Everything is great with it. I'm really enjoying it. While it was very playable straight out of the box, It needed a very simple... See more

UK CUSTOMERS BEWARE, costs apply with a 3rd party courier which were not set out at point of sale at the time, only in the small prints. VAT and handling fees are NOT INCLUDED, this is very misleading when comparing prices with UK sellers who include VAT in their pricing. I understand this brexit mess is none of Thomann's fault, but the pricing should be clearer, period. I called the customer to cancel the order, the (actually kind) customer support advised to contact the courier and have it sent back and get a full reinboursment but i will probably end up paying the VAT AND HANDLING FEES. Thanks Boris
I think it is not fair Thomann does not permit to publish reviews of returned products.
I wrote a review on another product along a part of this one and was DELETED by Thomann.
-------
Writing a review is an effort for the writer to help future buyers and Thomann sales, too. More over when it is a returned product as it could help others to know which are the reasons for that return.
Following is the review I wrote for Thomann on the T-Rex Mudhoney guitar pedal:
It seemed a good pedal but I returned it. It had a special flavour..., a flavour that did not fit my music play.
You may have heard it is like a RAT. It is NOT and does not sound like one. The sound it delivers fits very much for distorted jazz guitar, maybe some blues but not for rock or pop.
Very annoying is the extremely high volume output and a bit loose pot for that. Unity level is about 20% or less. So, it is difficult to adjust as it may produce a big volume jump from 15% to 25%. Beeing the pot a bit loose it is easy to be moved just turning the switch on and off with the foot.
Boost switch is nice but not labeled to know when is on or off. When the switch tip signs to label "boost" it means it is OFF. So, a Danish design failure for me.
On the other hand T-Rex has been messing us up with new reissues of this Mudhoney with different labelings. T-Rex sells directly from their website the pedal subtitled "Handbuilt by..." while in other sites you may found " By T-Rex Effects..."
The pics in Thomann website have no subtitle label AT ALL on face plate and no "Made In..." at the back. These are retouched FAKE Thomann pics. You have misbehaved Thomann. It seems German strictness has faded forever since Volkswagen affair.
Before buying in Thomann I asked T-Rex about this topic, just to know if there was any difference in the one sold by them or the one sold by Thomann. As price tag was close in both websites I believe both pedals were the same. If so, the pics from T-Rex website "Handbuilt by...", are provable FAKE, too.
By the way, the pedal received from Thomann had the subtitle "By T-Rex Effects..." on the face plate and "Assembled in China" at the back. To make things more confusing in the inside PC board one could read "Handcrafted in Denmark".
I want to say that "Made in China" does not mean lower quality by definition to me. Most of the world hi-tech is made in China, with the ideas of the rest of the world, but made in China, anyway. So, I do not understand Thomann efforts to hide this information to their clients on this subject.
Not to mention T-Rex never replied my email. Not to mention I never do business with companies that do not care for their clients.
Additional costs apply with a 3rd party courier which were not set out at point of sale at the time. You contract with Thomann not a delivery company. This makes them to be a very expensive option for purchasing.
Ordered a Evan's practice pad and when the invoice was sent VAT added on item and courier so paying £8 ,for delivery ,but UPS is not next day its next week if you are lucky not happy as Amazon had one for next day free delivery and £6 cheaper ...look out for this VAT and delivery times .....also contacting them is a problem too
Update order delayed for another week
Enjoy getting to pay UPS brokerage charges as Thomann has not set up an account with HM Revenue and Customs.
I ordered two items between the Xmas and new year period.
One of the items wasn't what I was looking for so I contacted Thomann to arrange a return. For various reasons (including changes post Brexit) a large part of the value of the item would have been taken up by the return postage.
Thomann (especially their particularly helpful rep Riikka) came up with a solution that didn't leave me out of pocket and were exceptionally helpful and communicative throughout the whole process.
Highly recommended.
I purchased a guitar from Thomann, nice guitar, nice price but when I received the order email it stated that I would have to pay the courier 20% VAT and any additional fees before delivery. As we Brits are now unshackled from the EU, VAT is not deemed paid at source, so must be paid by the buyer before delivery. In fairness Thomann do state 'plus VAT' but that is in a light small print under the large bold price that includes shipping. I am not saying they are a bad company but they should make things clearer. If you use them, then add at least 20% on to the price you think you'll pay. I cancelled my order, a shame as it was a nice guitar.
Yamaha YTS 280 Saxophone delivered from Germany in just 3 days, Andor Harci dealt with the order very efficiently, Beautiful instrument, excellent service and delivery
An amazing experience. Thomann matched the price for my purchase and the customer service was outstanding! I will definitely be using them again and recommend them most highly!
I placed a couple of orders with Thomann now, and have to say the process is easy to use.
The website is easy to use, has filters that work, and their stock levels / range are high. It's easy to find what you want.
It takes a while (1 - 2 days) for the goods to get into the shipping loop, and turnround for both orders was around 4-5 days.
Overall, very satisfied with the buying experience.
I've bought four guitars from Thomann over the years, and have always received excellent service and product quality. The latest guitar purchased was a Harley Benton 850B acoustic guitar, and all was fine, both with the guitar and the delivery. Unfortunately, several weeks after purchase, the laminated epaulettes glued to the body chipped away slightly in several places. I contacted Thomann customer care, and within 48 hours, and several prompt Emails, I was offered either a replacement instrument, or a 30% refund and keep the instrument. I chose the latter, fearing that the fault was a design flaw, that would occur again on the replacement guitar (which Thomann themselves also suggested in their Email). I also took into consideration that I had completed some fretboard levelling, and installed a set of locking tuners. This will not be my last purchase from Thomann (state pension finances allowing) .... I think they are a fantastic company.
Excellent customer service. I bought a mic stand which arrived scratched in a few places. Thomann immediately refunded the purchase price and I didn’t even need to return the scratched mic stand. Good companies stand out when something goes wrong. What more could you ask for.
Great service, prices are always very competitive and shipping is fast. Recently reported that a part was missing and was a send a new one out at no charge, no questions asked. Thank you!
I ordered 3 guitar pickups for my fender guitar, as these are expensive I found Thomann to be the best priced. I ordered them and I had an email confirmation and tracking info.. the items were being shipped free from Germany to the Uk and arrived very fast and very well packed.
I will shop with Thomann again I found them polite and professional. Thanks 👍🏻
I am deeply disapointed by Thomann.co.uk Thoman.de and all other Thomann musical provider.
I have to declare this experience as a fraud and I am able to provide all the evidence that this is/was a fraud.
After I bought some things at thomann.co.uk I thought to be in good hands but my experience today has wiped out all the positive experience with them.
To extend my bedroom studio I wanted to order some microphones one of them the Sure SM57LC which is available as single product or in a set with a cable or a set with cable and stand.
The Sure SM57LC is priced at 88£
I was thinking to order the set with the cable (at the time the cable in the set was the sssnake SM10 BK Mikrokabel) priced at 102£.
Just to be sure I looked up the price for the cable and found the cable alone only cost 5.70£.
So the set where you should save some money would have made the purchase 8.30£ more expensive.
Contacting Thomann over their chat function and asking for an explanation Mr. Patzner first send me the price in Euro, maybe because I was typing in German.
After I was not given an answer to my question why the set is/was more expensive after 15 minutes, Mr Patzner wrote "I am checking". (15 minutes to check a price from their products is already suspect for me).
This was followed by changing the cable in my wishlist and on the website to a more expensive one
(Cordial CAM 9 BK Professionelles Mikrofonkabel).
But I did make a screenshot before they changed the cable and told this to Mr. Patzner. After no reaction to an email I deceided to write this review.
I have to declare this behaviour as fraud and I will never order again from Thomann.co.uk or any associate Thomann company in other countries.
In this already bad times you get ripped of unfortunately also from Thomann.co.uk.
In case ask I will provide any evidence as the website before they changed the cable in screenshot and download and as well the chat I had with Mr Patzner.
It is so hard to get customers and so easy to push them away special when I feel I have to handle with gangsters.
Ordered a Rode recording kit. Order confirmed in writing by a named agent. Kit arrived well packaged in a couple of days and working well so far. Much better than another Germany based music store (see my review about how poor their service is for comparison). I will use again. Recommend.
Ordered guitar and was delivered exactly as expected. Packaging was excellent and the guitar was set up really well other than needing a quick tune.
Ordered a product to be delivered to my home. Three weeks later I found out it was waiting for me to collect it from a UPS collection point 5km away. I asked customer services why it wasn't delivered to my home as paid for, but didn't get an answer - they just told me to go to the collection point for it. Very poor - will not use Thomann again.
Recently purchased a full set of low volume cymbals for my drum kit. Excellent price, they arrived quickly and in perfect condition, with incredibly helpful shipping updates. Knowing orders are being processed by staff rather than a computer system gave another level of assurance. Cannot recommend Thomann music highly enough! Will definitely use again.
First I bought a B stock Koch amp that arrived damaged. The metal, built like a tank, footswitch was shipped in the back of amp unsecured and without being wrapped. This broke one of the valves and caused other damage to the chassis and speaker. Took over two weeks for them to arrange a return and refund. They were not interested that bad packing had caused / contributed to the problem and instead wanted to claim from UPS, hence the delay. At least the amp was collected.
Thinking this was a one off, I ordered a Blackstar amp. This arrived faulty, with one channel being totally dead. It had clearly not been unpacked or tested before shipping. I filled in the online return form and explained the problem. Received the automated email with a returns label. No apology or acknowledgement of fault. Rather it was as though I had just decided that I didn't like the amp and wanted to return it. I now have to print out the returns label, attach to the package and take to the post office. No mean feat as this is a substantial box and weighs over 20Kg. Clearly Thomann have no interest in having faulty good collected unless they can claim from the courier and instead rely on the customer to sort out their problems. I am not a happy bunny with the thought of hauling a heavy, big box several hundred yards to stand in a post Office for the privilege of returning faulty goods.
On both occasions the amps were at a good price but this is no good if at the end you have nothing but a lot of grief, disappointment inconvenience and hassle.
I have given up being an unpaid tester and unpacker for Thomann and have ordered a replacement amp from somewhere else.
