When we purchased Tin Leg it seemed like a wise choice. We travel frequently and have had claims for one reason or another with other carriers. This one is different. The entire process of a claim is to wear your out asking for more and more documentation. After over two months we have not settled on a large out of pocket claim.

Great experience & prices
A very convenient, fast, and user-friendly portal to choose and order the right insurance for your travel. Great prices.
I Tust Tin Leg!
I have used tin leg before and I trust them. That's why I went with them.
They came through for us!
My wife and I planned a Viking ocean cruise to celebrate our 80th birthdays, but my wife's health deteriorated before the trip so we made a claim. The good news is that Tin Leg approved the claim for the total amount we were out after canceling the trip. The claim process was at times tedious and, like others, it seemed to me that I was asked for the same documentation more than once. What I found most annoying was getting emails from someone who would say, for example, "I have reviewed your payments..." but they were never signed. No name was given. So you were always dealing with the anonymous "Tin Leg Claims Team." But, bottom line, they came through for us. We had a good experience.
Easy Insurance Process
Simple easy process with all information at your fingertips. Can quote different rates and share with my clients. Makes an Travel Agent's life uncomplicated!
Avoid at all cost
This company has done everything to avoid paying a claim - I have used several others in the past and had no problem when I had to make a claim. I was traveling with my family and this one was a little cheaper. I should have went with my gut - cheaper is not better. I wasted my money on a policy with a legit claim and they pulled every angle to avoid any accountability-
WORTHLESS - DO NOT GIVE THEM BUSINESS

Ease of use of the website for comparison and policy details.
Ease of use of the website for comparison was great. I also called with questions and was pleased with how well the representative answered and clarified information for me. She was very patient, listened and answered to my satisfaction.
Denied Emergency Surgery Claim Based on a Rule NOT in the Policy
I bought Tin Leg travel insurance for a July 10–Aug 15 trip, believing I would be covered during that time.
On July 29, during my covered dates, I needed emergency surgery abroad. Terrifying and expensive. Tin Leg told me to pay the hospital upfront (over $14,000) and then request reimbursement.
After submitting everything, Tin Leg denied my claim because I booked my return flight after I left.
This requirement is not written anywhere in the policy.
Tin Leg is enforcing rules that do not exist in the contract and leaving me with massive medical bills. This has been financially and emotionally devastating.
Travelers beware.

The website is easy to use and they provide sufficient policy options to cover our needs. We filed a claim on our last trip to Africa and they worked with us to process the claim and paid out according to our understanding of the policy. We are booking with them again mainly due to our experience with them last year.
Great Quote and Buy Experience
TinLeg provided multiple quotes of different levels of coverage for a large family trip. I appreciated the options so that I could pick coverage that was right for us. The quote and buy experience was fairly simple. I would have appreciated more summarized copy, which can be easily achieve via the use of AI.

Booking a plan on Tin Leg was easy and affordable. Comparing my options side-by-side so I could choose the best one for my unique travel situation was very helpful.
Good luck filing and collecting
Quick to accept your premium. But be wary of filing a claim. They require very extensive documentation of absolutely everything, and don’t believe documentation from travel agents, etc. Despite providing every bit of documentation they request, they will weasel out of paying a legitimate claim. Will be filing complaint with BBB and State Insurance Commissioner.
Be aware, Tin Leg is owned by SquareMouth.

Don’t use Tin Leg
Don’t use Tin Leg! I took a trip in July and used Tin Leg. We had travel delays and I filed a claim in early September. They use a third party provider called Robin Assist who gives you the run around. First they said they received it. I didn’t hear back for a month and checked in with them. Then they said they DIDN’T receive it and I had to painfully resubmit everything on their submission site (not a simple reforearding of an email). Still didn’t hear back after a couple weeks so I emailed them again and they told me I only would be getting half the claim. Fine. Small print. Now it’s three weeks after that and I still haven’t gotten a check. Skip the headache and go with another insurance provider that will pay out when they should and keep on top of your claim so you don’t have to.

While I hope to never have to use the insurance, it does offer me peace of mind that we are protected should anything happen on our vacations. Once the policy is created by our agent, your processes to purchase the policy is really effortless.
Can not recommend
Had the Gold package for a family trip to Scotland. My mother, who was traveling with us, passed away suddenly. My entire family filed claims, including my mother's insurance company. This comprised of three different travel insurance carriers. To date, over four weeks after filing I am still waiting on any resolution due to an issue with my airline receipt. I was a victim of a fraudulent company that impersonated United Airline's bereavement department, making obtaining an actual invoice from the airline impossible, as this fraudulent company is considered third party (travel agent).I have provided copies of my itinerary with the price paid, copies of my credit card showing the charges, and yet they are stalling on the not having the not obtainable invoice. There was a fraudulent fee, but it has been reversed (Tinleg was updated) and I am not seeking anything other than the cost of my return flight home. Very telling is the fact that all three of my siblings have been compensated from their travel insurance companies and my mother's insurance has managed to pay her $30K of medical fees, cremation and funeral home cost, returning her to the US and the cost of remaining in Scotland for an additional 5 days in less than two weeks, yet Tinleg hasn't even finished processing my claim for the cost of my return flight home. I can not recommend this company due to the response time when filing a claim.

Easy going, as it should be
I just learned about the company by chance and decided to check it out. 1)Very straightforward and to the point questions; 2) simple description; 3)rates comparison; 4)multiple choices; 5)competitive rates.
