Has served its purpose for several months but now has a small light on the side when the egg is charging that I can see mentioned anywhere in the description. Not sure what this means but I won't be able to use it in my child's room anymore if it doesn't turn off.
Have used this light for only 3 weeks with our newborn for night time feeds and is really good but now the egg has a small dot light on the bottom that won’t turn off. Even when you put it back on charge. Which then means my light is on all night which is really annoying as I sleep in the dark. ( photo is how bright it is whilst it’s all turned off and on the penguin to charge)
We have had this light for many years now and it is amazing. Our daughter, now aged 9, still sleeps next to it and uses the egg when reading stories at bedtime, or for trips to the toilet at night. It has survived a lot of trips away, being stuffed into overnight bags, and a lot of heavy use. It is a really fantastic product and I highly recommend.
Have loved this light until recently as the dimmer has become faulty and the light now flickers when you put the egg onto the penguin. I was contemplating buying another one but I assume this will happen further down the road in use of that one also. I see from another review that the base has burnt out, and Im wondering if thats whats happening in ours - product should be recalled until this is sorted. Doesn't feel safe
Excellent. Very safe and useful. My Daughter has one at her house,so bought this so my Grandchildren have enough light to read.Very good design and well made.Feel happy to leave on at night when Grandchildren stay at Nana and Popas house.
Our 4 year old called us crying the other night after bedtime saying her egg light hurt her finger. We noticed a burning smell when walking in her room. It turns out her penguin and egg had started melting at the base and exposing the components (see pictures). Speaking to family friends who have the same lamp, we found out they had the same issue and had thrown the lamp away. They spoke to customer service who only offered a new lamp rather than a safer solution. We have a 2nd lamp for our other daughter which we have now removed. If this isn't an isolated issue, why isn't there a recall? We now have to get rid of both lamps.
Absolutely love this - my son loves the reassurance through the night, and he takes the egg with him if he needs us through the night or a trip to the bathroom. Really pleased with my purchase.
My rating will change depending on the answer I get... I bought this lamp for my son but, in the instructions, there's no indication of how to turn it off, which means that the egg stays on all day. The penguin doesn't light up unless it's plugged into the UBS socket - a few more indications wouldn't go amiss!

To turn off the portable night light press and hold the button on the top of the portable night light itself for three seconds. The light will then automatically turn off when it is returned to the docking station.

Bought in the half price January sale for my 4-year-old. This is a great quality product in a fun penguin style. I love the handy detachable egg light. I was worried the night light would only give off the same light levels as the Groegg room thermometer but this is not the case. The night light has a dial on the back to adjust light levels up to really bright all the way down to super low for sleeping. I'm very happy with my purchase and will probably buy again for my second child.
Bright enough to see what you're doing but not too bright to disturb sleep. Only 4 stars as battery life only lasts one night and it also won't turn on while charging. The instructions aren't clear for turning it on and off. To turn it on, you need to press the power button and then tap the egg. To turn if off, you need to press the power but and then hold down on the egg. A good product overall though and my daughter thinks it's cute.
Love the idea of this and we’ve put it next to our changing table so that it makes things easier in the night. One thing I have noticed however is that randomly in the night the light makes itself brighter. Don’t know whether we just received a slightly faulty one?
I got this light on sale and I love it. My toddler also loves it. We use the detachable egg light to read stories before bedtime.
Really like the moveable egg light which also has dimming settings and really good battery life (lasts all night so far) annoying that this only comes with a usb lead not a plug though to use the full lamp/recharge the egg.

Nice light well made. My only problem is the light will only turn off when the charging cable is connected. Otherwise very happy.
This is the third one I have bought. It is such a really clever concept. I was very sceptical. But daughter had done her research and yes wanted this product. So 4 years ago I bought this for grandaughter number one and she is still finding it a great comfort at 4 years of age. The little egg can be set (by grandaughter) bright enough for granny to read the bedtime story and then set by again by grandaughter as she is MUCH quicker for her nightime sleep. the little egg is so soft and sits at various (or thrown) places. A great buy
