Similar to Duolingo

I don't usually write reviews, but I've been a musician for as long as I can remember and I've never seen a tool used for aural training like this before. It's super simple to understand and is very rewarding. Very reminiscent of Duolingo. It's easy enough to use that a kid in singing lessons could use this and thrive. it's super intuitive and has helped me with my ear TENFOLD. Highly rec.

Game-changing app for musical ear training

ToneScholar has revolutionized the way I approach ear training. It is an indispensable tool for anyone looking to enhance their musical abilities. The user interface is incredibly user-friendly, and the app offers a wide range of ear training exercises. What truly sets this app apart is its interactive and engaging approach to ear training. The gamified elements makes learning feel like a fun challenge rather than a chore. Plus, the app provides instant feedback, which is crucial for improving your musical ear. ToneScholar has taken my musical journey to a whole new level, and I can’t recommend it enough.

Best Ear Training App I’ve Found

I’ve already tried dozens of ear training apps and they all pretty much boil down to memorizing intervals. ToneScholar is the first app where I feel like I’m building musical skills that are applicable to real situations. I’ve found the functional ear training method the app prescribes to be much faster for melodic dictation, and the understanding I’ve developed around the unique scale degree tones are feeding directly into my jazz improvisation. Would highly recommend to anyone who wants to improve their ear.

A new take on ear training

ToneScholar is an ear training app that focuses on functional ear training (internalizing the unique tensions of each scale degree and scale degree chord). I've found this method to be more effective for ear training as you end up learning to immediately recognize notes in the tonal context, rather than having to compare them to preceding or following notes.

The app is fun, friendly, and has a good progression of material.
