Lanzarote. Due to back problems, I requested a car with a higher entry, a T-Roc. I also assumed every modern car had GPS. I got a VW-Taigo with a lower entry, which left me driving around in pain for... See more

The service was good, fast pick up and fast drop off but we took the car back in the exact condition it was picked up and still didn’t receive our full deposit (no explanation why) back which is a hefty deposit of 700 euros (when I’ve rented cars in the past it’s been 200/300 euros) would not use them again for this reason
I would like to have given TopCar more than 2 star but due to "an admin error" they still had my 900 Euro deposit over 6 weeks later. I noticed it had not been credited back and chased it. Make sure you check your credit card. The people in the garage were very helpful and are the reason I have not given them 1 star. My other big problem is that the car was inferior and smaller than the one I booked. They seem to play with the description "or similar". The only good thing to come out of it was the exchange rate changed and the fact they held onto my deposit meant they gave me back a bit more in pounds sterling.
No queue at pick up. Had my own excess insurance and made it clear at the onset. Had to pay a 900 euro deposit but was expecting that. Paid £91 for 10 days through booking.com for a VW TCross. Car was probably about 3 years old but adequate. I always take photos of the car inside and out both on collection and return just in case. Upon return handed the keys over to an employee who didn't check the car. I was concerned there maybe an issue with return of the deposit but it was returned in full after 3 working days. Would consider using again but would not book direct.

I appreciate reviews can be subjective and waiting times could vary depending on flight arrivals, but my experience with Top Car Gran Canaria was excellent.
1. Waiting time - was in and out in less than 10mins, no queue and really straightforward.
2. Vehicle- I ordered "Hyundai Tucson or similar" and was given a Tucson. It was relatively new, clean, with an excellent spec. Android Auto, cruise control, lane assist, etc.
3 Collection and Return - bit of a walk to get the car, but instructions where clear and easy to follow. No issues finding the car. Returning was simple, park in a Top Car spot and drop the keys off in a safe box. Nothing to do with the rental company but people appear to treat the multi story drop off like a race track. Please be aware of this and keep an eye on kids when you get out. Couldn't tell who was driving (and I'm making an assumption here) but looked very much like local folk and bearing the colours of car rental companies.
To summarise, really easy to deal with, got exactly what I ordered and certainly felt like good value for money.
Would have no hesitation in using again!
Pickup at Lanzarote airport, reasonably quick but rude and arrogant if not paying the additional insurance.
Vehicle parked outside of airport in the pitch black with no means of inspecting the vehicle, took ages to find it as disnt have unlock facility on key and had to physically unlock so cluldnt even look for indicator flashing to guide us, no handover documentation showing previous damage etc.
Photos taken the next morning of existing damage and emailed to topcar but no acknowledgement as yet!
We expect a battle on return as they have already held £900 deposit
Luckily we have a seperate excess insurance policy in place
Probably best to read reviews of all providers and pick accordingly, this bunch may appear cheap but there method of clawing back money through the previous damage scam all makes sense
They have tried to shift previous damage to me. Please make lots of pictures, movies of car condition. They refuse upon car pick up to place damages in the report. Upon delivery they check if you have pictures on file and if negative they try to impose you old damages. Furthermore the keep avoiding placing this damage in the system for next rental.
Pick up from Fuerteventura airport was atrocious.90mins to collect a car booked online and completed online check in on arrival at desk. 2 queues. The other desk clerk was seeing 3 people to one our side so this was basic incompetence from the staff member. Car was fine..few dents on a new car which we noted by photo on pick up. Return very easy and organised. They took 700 euro deposit and then refunded. It was not just authorised payment it was debited and refunded.
Imagine getting a car with worn brake pads in tenerife and going with it to masca valley. After that, they replaced it with a lower category, and keep insisting that it was an upgrade (I booked a Renault clio and got a Toyota aygo instead 😅)
I had a great experience with top car I was sceptical beforehand with some of the reviews but we got a free upgrade when we arrived and the insurance or deposit tat was needed was explained well in advance so no surprises there… I left a deposit of €700 and had in back in my account 2 days later great service in Lanzorate I’ll will def use again
We had booked an Audi A3 for our trip in Fuertaventura and we were told on arrival they had none and that a Mazda 3 was an equivalent. Let me assure everyone, it isnt.
Besides that, the Mazda 3 isn't listed anywhere on their website. Neither did we see any Audi cars in the parking spaces.
In essence, booking an Audi appears to be a scam to give you an inferior car for a higher price.
This the second time I have been charged extra £45 due to the company charging my credit card instead of blocking the amount on the card. At the desk I was presented with the option to pay pounds or euro, the staff advised me to use euro without mentioning I will be losing money due to the exchange rate they use. They are liars and cheaters. I would not recommend.
I used Top Car at Tenerife Sur. My first car was faulty , I contacted Top Car and they brought a replacement car to my apartment within an hour. No questions asked. No charge.
I was refunded the deposit in full .
Staff spoke good English and were efficient.
(UPDATE: I left a negative comment on their Instagram which they deleted, followed by blocking me. Very professional behaviour!)
We forgot to take a picture of the sunshade mirror (it is behind a sliding door - as if anyone would think to check this). When dropping off the car the lady didn’t even look at the outside, which was covered in dents and scratches, but went straight to the sunshade mirror... which turned out to be cracked (but we had not even used). Very suspicious and scammy behaviour. The fact that they then charged us €90 was pure extortion. Reminder to all: CHECK YOUR SUNSHADE MIRRORS and photograph the interior as well. They will try to squeeze every euro from you when you return the car. Will never rent again from this company, they are cheap for a reason. Cars are in poor condition, waiting time to collect was very long and the 900 euro deposit which is charged and then refunded, instead of just being blocked is ridiculous as well.
🤬 Absolutely DISGRACEFUL experience with TopCar at Fuerteventura airport! I booked a car a month in advance, confirmed everything days before, only to be told on arrival that my reservation was cancelled due to a “system error” with ZERO prior notice. The staff were utterly unhelpful, offering no solutions or alternatives, leaving me stranded and ruining the start of my trip. I had to scramble to find another rental company, costing me extra time and money. To make matters worse, TopCar completely IGNORES customers—my emails and calls go unanswered, and they have the audacity to delete critical comments on Instagram and block users to silence them! This is a SCAM company with zero respect for clients. AVOID TOPCAR AT ALL COSTS!
Got a car from Tenerife airport , car was very clean and free car seat included, took the super cover so when I returned the car they only checked the petrol was full , paid €200 deposit as I paid with debt car deposit was retuned within 3 days, Great service
I always book direct with them. They are cheap, have a cheap full cover insurance, fast service and so far good and clean cars.

Took an age to return holding money and then they didn't return all of the funds
We checked on the internet and saw very nice cars and really good prices. We noticed the office was close by so we went over there and it looked very professional.
We rented a nice cabrio for 1day. Later we found out that when you arrange the booking at the office you do not get the discount of 10% which was mentioned on the internet site. We asked why we were not informed and they only mentioned that discount was only available for bookings via internet. Too bad that they did not mention this. but we let it go.
Before we left with the car the fuel meter showed full and we could drive 500 km the display showed. When we got back and put fuel into the tank until it was full we could drive 610 km. So this meant that when we got the car the tank was not full although it showed full. I tried to claim that at top car with evidence, but they only thing they kept repeating is that there is always a bit of a range when the tank shows full.
So because I am an honest person who brings back the car with a real full tank as required I have paid too much.
They did not mention anything that they were sorry and they also did not offer money back. I left ver disappointed and a bit mad.
VERY BAD SERVICE! I do not advice to go to TopCar at Maspalomas Gran Canaria
We picked up our car with no problems from Gran Canaria airport. We took photos of the slight knocks and scratches and to be fair they were already noted on our documents. But a few days later while still on holiday I noticed that the €900 had been taken out of my credit card, not pending like normally happens. After returning the car I was told that the money would be returned to my card as there was no further damage and I had put a full tank of fuel in the car. The money was put back into my account, but the difference was unbelievable. I am at present over £53 short of what they deducted. That cannot be due to currency conversions!
