Toptal is the best freelancing platform I've tried so far, and I've been freelancing for over a decade.

They have a lengthy vetting process for both freelancers and clients, but once you're on the platform, things are fairly smooth. You get matched by recruiters with roles that actually fit you, and you can also apply to anything that looks interesting. And the interview process with the companies is a lot shorter and very straight-forward, because of the inherent high trust on the platform.

Working with fellow programmers from Toptal has also been great, they are always skilled people who care about craftsmanship.
