I just finished with this company
I just finished with this company, and have been treated like crap, I finally got hold of them through an email and they came back with some cock n bull story and this is why i did not complete my So called 26 week probation period, trying to get hold of someone on the phone is like getting blood out of a stone, I have been in security for 25 years on/off and seen alot of changes, I raised security issuses with the site i was on and nothng has been done to correct them, i went to the site i worked at as a shopper and all the security issuses i raised have still not been completed, DO NOT GO WITH TSS, you'll regret it in the long run....... TRUST ME
Never ever work for total security…
Never ever work for total security services. I can't express enough on how bad of a company this is to work for. It feels like you have joined a colt, you can't speak to anyone and when you do, you are pushed to one side and not bothered about. You are treated like chewing gum that has been chewed up and spat out and trodden on. Please for the life of God, DO NOT apply for a job with this company.
Worst company ever!!I worked for this company for over two…
I worked for this company for over two years. They’re the worst, don’t care about their staff, no support, they remove you from stores with no warning or explanation especially if you work in a Tesco Convenience. Managers virtually impossible to contact unless you need to phone in sick then they try and guilt trip you in to going in. If you’re a female like me you are not treated as fairly as if you were male. When the auto book on system wasn’t working and you had phone control to book on, you will receive an email basically telling you off. They investigate you after an incident without your knowledge and you only find out when they email you to say they found nothing wrong. They expect you to put your life on the line with no ppe (stab proof vests) in critical risk stores on minimum wage. Favouritism is rife, they don’t like guards who call them out on their failings. I resigned last week and am still waiting for my resignation acceptance email from them. If you’re contemplating working for them I advise you to steer clear because they’re bad for your mental health.
Bad firm to work for
It's funny how you write a true review on here about tss not being a fair company accusing racism which I got accused of which wasn't true. They wouldn't even investigate. I have now found a better job,and I am treated fairly with a good boss. Dont fall for their chat about offering you loads of work, they only do that if you work 18 hours day. They phone when you are in your day off. I'm not stressed anymore. They don't investigate when something goes wrong. If anyone writes a 4 star review then I guess they have been paid to do that for them. My last truthful review has been taken off.
Sadly I have read other reviews posted on this platform
Sadly I have read most of the reviews posted here and I have to conclude that they are mostly right - as I work for TSS and have firsthand experience. TSS should clean up their act , however they cannot treat their staff in the manner they do without the active encouragement and knowledge of well known brand-names like Tesco , Boots , Waitrose , John Lewis , Morrison's etc. Surely these companies know what is going on , and the pretence that they are unaware of the way in which the hapless security officers are treated - this in 2021 is laughable and demonstrates the hypocrisy of these companies and the contradiction between the face they present to the unwary public as against what they condone.
Awful company to work for you always on…
Awful company to work for you always on a relief work and they always take your shifts away from you and also mangers are horrible they don’t back you up if something gose wrong in store stay away
Unequal Opportunity Company
I had an interview with TSS on 13/08/2020 at Twickenham Tesco. The interviewer was satisfied with my interview and took my picture and he wrote down my uniform size. At the end he asked me if I could stand for a long time, in which I replied as an over 60 year old man, it is a bit hard. When I came home and opened my email, I received an automated email which says that my interview was not successful. Fair enough. Now I noticed from Hounslow Job Centre that this company is hiring new employees and it is an equal opportunity company which accommodates disabled people etc. That is a pure lie. TSS is a bigot blood sucking vampire which pays the lowest wages in London.
Never no when you will be working
I’ve only just started with them and they have already swapped shifts around when on the interview I said I could do certain days they called me up at 1pm and asked if I could work and when I said I couldn’t felt like the tone changed of the caller and oh yeah they want me to work 16+ hours a day for minimum wage
TSS guard with aggressive behaviour
I recently was stopped by a TSS (Total Security Services) Ltd guard employed by Tesco.
His approach and manner was belittling, agresive, his verbal conversation was slanderous. Hopefully Tesco will review the incedent aparently recorded by bodycam worn by the TSS employee.
Worse than ever
This job briefly consists of security inside retail stores around London: Tesco, Waitrose and more... This Retail job is without any other doubt more dangerous than any other Door supervisor job in a nightclub, but for some unknown reason is paid at the lowest.
Managers into the stores are brainless and they think to have something like an undercover cop into the store and they ask you to do the most dangerous things they could ever ask for like chasing shoplifter or blocking groups of aggressive criminals.
I still wondering how this job could be paid only 8.73 pounds for an hour. I had a fight with a guy under substances and despite I got like 2-3 punches in the face that I took instead of someone else I got 0 rewards for it, in fact, I got all my next shifts removed.
It could also be accepted at all, if this job was paid properly, it could be considered a dangerous job like many more.
But The edgy behavior of store managers towards you, how customers treat you, and above all THE PAY RATE makes look like you are the trash of this society.
And if the store manager notice you don't do the crazy stuff mentioned before all he has to do is picking up the phone, call TSS and ask for another security guard, so if you had planned to work into a place for a month or 2 all your shifts into that specific stores get cancelled until they don't find you somewhere else to go, recycling security guards place by place... and in the meantime you are jobless you don't get any salary having a 0 hours contract.
In the store I am working on there are at least 5-6 shoplifters daily, and they don't steal candies but full bottles of alcohol or meat and if you don't keep your eyes fixed on the monitor you miss them and they go away, well there are some days I caught 3-4 of them... and guess what? no rewards, nothing, all I got is the incredible opportunity to work there 3 days a week.
I realized much time ago that security job in the UK is pure crap, and the security industry needs a drastic change. but this one is absolutely the worst you can find in London above everyone else... and I am still wondering how Tesco staff earns 1.5-2 £/hour more than me unpacking cereal boxes, while you can't sleep at night due to stress.
PS: the 5 stars reviews are fake.

AVOID AVOID AVOID AT ALL COSTS THAT COMPANY
I’m wondering how the top managers of that company are not taking actions towards low and middle management after so many negative reviews.
If you have some dignity left in yourself - avoid them.
How is mentioned here from other people, the interviewer is late, same happens to me - 20 mins late.
Then he asked me out of place question - “tell me something about yourself”, to be honest that question is the last one for the interview when most of the work related question are already answered. (Teachers in 5th grade are asking that question - tell me something about yourself)
He told me “are you ready to work” - okay give me some more information like what kind of businesses this company is guarding, working hours, contract hours, holidays, pay rate and etc, and to that my request he replied back “I cannot see the vibe from you to work here” Shocked.
Pay rate - £8.75 for security he said, when I asked why the lady over the phone told me £10.85 he said to me “Is for different role - advanced security and you don’t have enough experience and communication skills”
Shocked again.
Basically when you ask information about the work, you are becoming inexperienced and with bad communication skills. Probably in this place only thing you need to say is “Yes, sir!”
Tesco, Waitrose and other retailers who are using their security services will need to do some audit or consider some kind of inspection of that company.
This is copy/paste from my google review about them

No care for Staff
I currently work for this company but I am seeking new employment as this company breaks the law everyday forcing staff like myself to work 13+ hour shifts when it is said we can't do them shifts we are bullied into it them our training is very poor with no training in self defence also my area manager tells us to lie on our reports and expects us to put ourselves in harms way we are expected to work even with food poisoning and major back injuries we are not even provided a chair when we work ridiculous hours I go out of my way to put people off applying for TSS due to how bad it is to work for them

Don't even bother trying to apply you'll thank me later.
I worked for the company for 3 months. In those 3 months I struggled to get consistent work, was paid less than the staff in the supermarkets I was working in (even though my position had the most potential danger). Went to work one day and ended up in the hospital for 5 hours after I was severely bitten by a shoplifter, I received no after care from the company, didn't even receive a text message from my manager to see if I was alright. I wasn't given any work at all in September so I decided to look for a new job, I recently received an email from their HR department telling me that I was being dismissed for not attending shifts and that it had a negative impact on their business (please tell me how I cannot attend shifts if I havent been given any shifts to attend). Overall terrible company to work for.
