I started the service in September, all was well. Last Saturday, March 23, 2024 I received a phone call that said I would need to send my phone in for upgrade or pay $50 to keep my phone and upgrade myself. I explained that I needed to know when this was happening because I use my phone for work. Today April 2, 2024 I have no internet lost a days pay for work. It was 8 pm before I got to talk to a customer’s service person who said I can’t have my internet back on until I can figure out how I will work. I was told no only option send my device in or buy a new one. I spent $500 on this one in September. This is wrong in every way. No warning just turn it off!
Horrible. Tried to cancel and got a Indian woman on the phone trying to tell me a new modem. Told her I would like to cancel, she can't do that and hung up on me. Still waiting to cancel.....yea...dont sign up with this mess.
Terrible service, regularly choked to the point of being unusable. Download speeds so slow that nothing can be streamed and upload speeds that are all but zero.
The billing department is a total nightmare to deal with.
Their 'unlimited' bandwidth is mislabelled. It should be described as 'barely existent' bandwidth. We can see the tower from where we are, but there is simply no service. 'Reboot/Reset your device' is not a solution, and it doesn't accomplish anything.
Highly don't recommend this company.
Date of experience is incorrect. I'm not able to change it. Actual experience is 09-2023 to 12-2023
Was emailed about my service being cut off due to att cancelation. Same 3 options others have mentioned and decided to transfer my service to a new device to keep internet. It's been over a week now and I'm still waiting for my sim card for the new device I wanted to transfer over to only for townbroadband to tell me multiple times that my new device doesn't work.
They also tell me that they do orders and processing in a queue format which is not true. My sister placed an order for a new device with them 2 days after me contacting them to transfer service. She's already got a confirmation tracking number with usps and my order is still on processing.
Customer service and the processing team like to lie to their customers.
If you were scammed by company. Look into filing a complaint with your states Consumer protection agency. The Attorney Generals office will help with that! These people need stopped!
Same issue as other people here have mentioned. Asked to switch to T-Mobile. SIM card on the way but never arrived. Can’t get a live person by phone. Chat can only promise someone will contact me soon. I opened several trouble tickets and since 2/23/2024 I’ve got no response. Then they cut off my internet but still charged me a monthly fee. The bulk of it I pre-paid so kiss that goodbye.
I've had this service for about 8 months with no problems really. The cost was $100 a month for unlimited internet. Not many options in my wooded area. Anyways, three weeks ago they emailed me saying that AT&T will no longer let them use their towers, so they gave me a couple options. One was to terminate service and I would get payed back. Another option, which I chose, was to keep the service and they would send me a new sim card for tmobile service. They never sent the sim and charged me $100 a few days ago. The service completely shut off the day after the charge. I disputed it with my bank, got my money back and moved on. Don't use!
Town Broadband uses cell towers to provide customers with discounted internet service. AT&T one of their cell providers changed their policy on 23 Feb and no longer sells them unlimited plans. All of this is unfortunate for us as customers but understand. Town Broadband informed me of this through an email and gave 3 option. Option 1 switch to Tmobile which does not work in my area if it did I would of called TMobile for service. Option 2 pay a lot more for not unlimited AT&T service. or Option 3 cancel, I choose option 3 as I want to continue to have unlimited coverage. It has been 3 weeks and they have not returned any calls for get me a refund as I paid the yearly rate. Everything is through a ticket that never gets answered because the person answering the tickets can only forward the tickets.
Town Broadband has been our hotspot provider for almost two years, their service is very fast and can handle several connections at the same time. Recommended.
Town Broadband has been great for our family, we’ve been able to run my home business and still use it with our TV and the rates are very affordable. Thanks Richard for helping me set up my new hotspot.
I will start by saying our original experience of the provided service was good for being in a rural area. But then my device was stolen I called in and was told i could suspend my service and get a new device. I wanted to talk to my husband who travels before getting another device. I reached out to them they close early and we have been playing phone tag back and forth. They have since charged me for two months of service that i have not had service. For a suspended account. This was never told to me when I spoke to the customer service personnel. Upon calling today the customer service rep was very rude and argumentative with me. So although I originally liked the service i had and it was a good service I will not use a company who does not protect their customers from poor customer service or who would charge full price for a suspended account. There are other products that are just as good and who provide excellent customer service.
Beware! While they will provide you with overpriced LTE data internet, once you are in their clutches they will not let you cancel the service.I started my cancellation process back on Dec 28 2023 and still have not gotten any type of result. How long does it take a "GOOD" company to end service, you might ask? I have already been charged another payment cycle and no help from the secret dept that closes the accounts at Town Broadband.
"Rest assured that this has been forwarded to the respective team, we’ll give you an update as soon as possible." is what they give you as a cookie cutter reply. The updates NEVER happen and the schlubs at Town Broadband keep spinning the propaganda all to keep taking your money. This all started because I explained to them that we had new fiber optic lines run up my street and I switched to a new service at a way lower rate (almost half) from what they are charging. This should be a simple "OK we thank you for your patronage."and then cancel. You can't close the account on the phone. You have to use the special "Open a Ticket" button and wait for someone to respond. People with names like Oliver,Joseph, and get this,Angel will never help you complete the task at hand. Keeping you in a never ending loop of:
Your request has been escalated to our team for prompt attention, and we are actively working to address it.
Our team is committed to providing you with a swift and efficient response.
We understand the importance of your request, and we appreciate your patience. You can expect to receive a response as soon as possible.
Thank you for choosing our services, and we look forward to resolving this matter to your satisfaction.
Blah blah blah. Over a week of non-activity on the cancellation and probably more coming. You have all been warned. Please,do yourself a favor and find a better alternative than the fraudsters at Town Broadband.
UPDATE:
After posting this review a miracle happened. My account got suspended and I was told I will have a refund, although as of writing this I have not seen the refund yet. I guess standing your ground works.
UPDATE:
I am changing my review from 1 star to 2 stars because they refunded me. Customer experience has not changed. They will say they were waiting for the secret staff that cancels the accounts to return from new year break while they were all at work. If that was the case, why not just say so? No reason to ignore or be rude to the people that pay your paychecks.

Useful their services for over 2 years. I went to cancel and couldn't get it cancel. They kept telling me start a ticket. Done that and still nothing. My service stopped working so thats why I tried canceling. For 6 months they did nothing except take my money. Finally I canceled my dept card. That stopped them from taking my money. So if you ever try to cancel them ,LOOKOUT.

I only have good things to say about these guys, Town Broadband has been the best hotspot service we’ve had in years, we tried Cricket, Verizon and satellite too but they all had problems, but Town Broadband has been great from day one speed, customer service and price wise (very affordable). I really recommend it to anyone specially in rural South Carolina. Bless your heart guys all your help… thank you so much!

I ordered a device and the unlimited plan from them received the device but not working okay told them about it they sent me some code that could not be printed off so basically made it impossible for me to send it back to get a new one and then after I asked them to cancel my account they continue to charge me for 2 months I'm really questioning if I should file charges cuz I requested them to cancel my accounts but they refused saying that they would add an extension an extension is not a cancellation
non existent Internet service...... we rarely have service. We can't even use our cell phones. Absolutley, NO Customer Service. We have begged for help, and we receive rude respones and no assistance.

Customer service was great. John called me back when the call was disconnected. While the internet service is sparse in my geographic area, the flexibility of Town Broadband allowed me to customize my own solution. Being somewhat knowledgeable, I am grateful for the various options they offer. The BYOD option was especially attractive to me. I have had the service for several days now, and while the normal flux in speeds is present, I have been seeing 5 to 10 Mbps increase over the previous provider. This is without an external antenna. My location has a lot of trees and in a very rural area in Northern Michigan. The current average speed is 17Mbps. With an external antenna I am looking forward to +25 Mbps.

I have had them for a couple months now, we stream our TV service and game. The service is unlimited and I have not once been throttled. I live an a rural area and can only get 4g but I'm loving their service and support so far.

Town Broadband has been a life saver, my previous satellite provider had so many problems, it was impossible to rely on for work or my kids’ school. I had an issue with the battery if my new device and they were very quick to replace it. I highly recommend it.

I have tried many internet providers in my area, even satellite, and Town Broadband has been the fastest and most stable by far. If you live in a rural area like me I recommend to set a good antenna as high as you can and the best hotspot you can afford for best results, I use the M1 which I got because of the great reviews and it’s not disappointed.
