CS Rep lied to me

I've had Tracfones in the past for an additional line. Did contact Customer Service (CS) a couple times with questions & never had a problem.
Purchased a Tracfone in February, 3 mo prepaid & the mobile protect plan (13 mo). Dropped the phone, screen cracked & 5 days later screen was completely black. Last Wednesday (4/30), I called & was on the phone with CS for about 45 min. Eventually I was told a replacement phone would be sent & arrive by Saturday or Monday. He was also very insistent he would call me on Saturday between 10 & 11 am. He never called & phone never arrived.
Called CS today (wait time was 11 min) to check on tracking of the replacement phone. He never gave me a case # or tracking #, so the woman spent a fair amount of time looking up my account. She said she had no access to anything that transpired previously, which doesn't make sense to me, as one would presume a customer account file should be inclusive.
After finally verifying my account & that I had a "mobile protect plan", she asked about the problem with the phone. After being on hold a couple minutes, I was told that their mobile protect plan only covers software, and because the cracked screen could have contributed to why the screen went black, a replacement phone would not be authorized. Rather I should contact Assurion, the provider of the plan, and see what, if anything, they can do for me. Needless to say, by then (20+ min) I was quite frustrated. This person was Ok & obviously couldn't explain why I was told differently last Wednesday. Upon completion with her I asked to speak with a manager & after a momentary hold, was told they were all in a meeting for about another hour (IMO a convenient excuse), but she took the phone # where I can be reached. Never received a call so obviously they don't care about the customer. I am quite furious. Had I been told the truth last week, I likely would have opted to just buy another phone. So, I have no idea what the 1st CS rep did as he spent plenty of time verifying my account, shipping address, etc.
Because of this terrible experience with their CS, I will NEVER buy another Tracfone and will NEVER recommend this company to anyone.

Worth shopping a new cell plan

First began years ago when traveling between Houston & College Station but AT&T let us down so often on a cheap android cell. Good service/coverage, go figure.

Not a data hog so a One Year generous data + unlimited other was $99 and so was hooked for years.

This year rumors say Verizon enters the scene so the deals are not so great. e.g. $125 annual for 24GB data now 1.5GB with the double data deals between $160-200 UGH. Still the service A-OK

Bad luck running out of Data on frequent walk&radio but had "points" to add free Data BUT given a monthly chart usage is not the same as a gas gauge. They refuse to understand and to supply a daily/weekly spreadsheet on data used!?!?! = One Star deduction.

KUDOS ... a new Tracfone was introduced for Biz and the old had an old battery needing a battery bank tied to it. Presto-Chango Tracfone Chat does has a college grad or two who swapped the accounts/numbers! WOW. Now the old cell stays plugged in to serve Biz and the other, smarter, better battery cell goes traveling and walk&radio outings.

Worth time shopping this service BUT get Chat to completely explain all the Plans before signup. There's no cancel & re-dos here.

I wish I would have seen these reviews…

I wish I would have seen these reviews before I bought the plan. Simcard never worked. I spent hours and hours on chat with their customer service doing exactly what they said. They said they escalate the issue and send it higher up the chain. It's been 4 days and no response and the sim doesnt work. I wasted 40.00 plus the cost of the sim. DO NOT BUY AT ANY COST

Account unaccessible

Agent messed up when I made my account and entered the wrong email address. I now spend hours upon hours trying to change it so far I still can't log in to my account. Customer support is terrible they mean well but most of them don't know what they're doing. I'm desperate to get out of TracFone but I can't login in order to port out.

No SIM card sent

Contacted TracFone after 16 days and couldn't get any kind of help from them. Was sent to 3 different call locations and no help. If you want a SIM card, do yourself a favor and buy one off E-Bay. Cost the same and guaranteed delivery.

They should rename Trashfone to Roadblocks

I had Tracfone for about 20 years, but since the Verizon buyout, they are useless.My MMS suddenly intermittently stopped working. It would resume after a week or so. Then it stopped altogether. Customer service insisted I was maybe, possibly out of minutes, despite a fully paid up plan with unlimited everything. At every turn there was another impossible hurdle for me to overcome before anything else could happen. And then it resulted in nothing but another roadblock.

my elderly parents denied activation…

my elderly parents old phone died and bought a new phone through tracfone. We were not able to activate the new phone neither by the website or by customer service. They said the only way to activate the phone was by a texting a verification code to the old phone which is not working. So we can't get the verification code to activate the new phone. Also the SIM cards are a different size on the new phone so cant use them to activate either. Ttacfone would not use our email to send the code needed to activate. All in all we spent 2 days and many many several hours with the website and with customer service who were not helpful and were very very rude. Emergency personnel trying to contact my elderly father can not reach him as his old tracfone is not fully functioning and not working, family and neighbors are being contacted to try desperately to reach my elderly father in need of medical attention. Tracfone will not reimburse the 8-months of unused air time. A hassle for anyone especially the elderly. I feel trafone is abusive, dysfunctional and don't recommend them to anyone.

I've been a decades and stay because of…

I've been a customer for decades and stay because of the price, obviously.
While the cell service is fine with the Verizon network, Tracphone customer service is ridiculous. I truly believe they are trained to be incompetent and dismissive to discourage you from calling again.

Absolutely Horrible Customer Service !!!!!

Like other reviews I wish I could leave NO STARS. Tracfone has the absolute worst customer service ever. They recently deleted all our time and had absolutely no answer.
We switched to a different pay as you go service and it was the best decision we ever made.
GOODBYE TRACFONE.

Ordered a phone I was told I would receive it in 1 to 3 days when they were unable to deliver it I attempted to cancel it they said it couldn't be canceled because the order was in process but had not yet been shipped two weeks went by still no phone finally the phone shipped and I was told I could just refuse the phone and would be reimbursed my money and that they required a signature to receive the item the item was left on my doorstep I was not able to refuse it now I have a phone I don't need because I purchased a phone from someone else because I needed a phone TracFone misled me putting it politely not someone I will ever do business with again

They will not let you see how many…minutes you have

They will not let you see how many minutes you have left online or through your cell phone of your account. So, you cannot add minutes until you run out. If you try to get information about your account, you have to chat with someone from another country who usually do not know what they are doing! also, it is very hard to get a copy of your conversation.

Company is a SCAM

I cancelled and order that was placed by mistake and the seller refused to cancel the order and shipped the item anyway. I contacted them immediately and there is no reason they could not cancel the order. The item has not shipped when I placed the cancellation. I have been informed that I can't return the item for some reason. This seller is running a scam and selling a product that is similar to a Verizon calling card but isn't and the item doesn't work on the Verizon network. TracFone Wireless, Inc. is scamming people and makes their product seem as if it will work for you phone but it doesn't and then refuses a refund. Who knows how many people they have ripped off.

Bad customer care

I talk 2 u on 12/16/2024, 12/29/2024, 1/7/2025, 1/28/2025, 1/29/2025, 2/7/2025 & 2/11/2025 & I c u have not done anything. I was told by Straight Talk an Tracfone they would be able to change my number back to my old
# endin 8646. I gave them the IMEI number and told me it wasn’t a problem. I gave them what the new # I changed 2 endin in 1555 and they told me they would not be able to fix it now. I provided them with my new phones imei and phone # endin in 9722 an they told me they could change my number to my old one.

The only reason I get one star is…

The only reason I get one star is because there's no option to leave any less. I'm a victim of their fraudulent false advertisement of unlimited data and Hotspot usage. Do not ever use Walmart phones. I've been with Straight Talk for 15 years. It's getting worse and worse. Now it's where you pay for unlimited hotspot and data usage and it only works one time and then they cut you off because they think you used too much. There's no customer service based in the US. You cannot understand the dialect and accents of the people trying to help you. Which they make you borrow someone else's phone jump through innumerable hoops and type in a numberable amount of codes and numbers into your phone for hours on end and then in the end it never works and you get the same thing every time. The automated system is the exact same way. It always claims to identify the problem have fixed it for you and congratulations. But it never works. There are many class action lawsuits against them and I am trying to join one. I urge everyone to do the same thing. And switch to a company that does not lie to you and it's based in the US with American consumer Service as a priority.

"DEPLORABLE"

"DEPLORABLE". end of sentence. i didn't realize i'd need a PhD in "flip phone" in order to be able to call, text, or use the internet. i purchased this p.o.s. to have in my rig for emergencies, and found out quickly i paid for a year of service only to have a "nothing burger" of a phone. i just spent an hour on my home phone in order to get schooled on why i can't use my phone? well, the rep couldn't speak very good English(typical right?) and as time went on and she had to ask for help from others in her very noisy call center, she started getting ruder and ruder and ruder...told me to "watch YouTube", learn to navigate my phone and then turn my phone on and off several times...kept sending me 611611 messages with number codes in order to verify my account but kept telling me the numbers were not valid even though the time stamp was spot on for that incoming message. she even heard my message tone when i received them?? she also told me that airplane mode is not just to silence the phone, but must always be "off" if i want to access web browser? does this seem right? might as well just turn phone OFF! she asked to send an email to me @ home computer, and even after verifying my email address, the messages supposedly sent to me NEVER CAME THROUGH!!! and she could not explain why, but instructed me to turn the phone off and then on again and again and again??? if you will take the time to read the reviews here, you will understand the gravity of how useless these phones are AND, the customer service as well. do not purchase a tracfone with KaiOS. i could write a ton more, but i think you've got the picture.
