11 calls to customer service, 11 times trying to cook with it.
I am a 57-year-old female and six of my calls they asked me to get a screwdriver and take the grill apart. Sent a technicism three times who also had to call a technician because it would not work.
Hopefully a company that has a good product and better customer service will come along than having ladies troubleshooting and having to be a mechanic to operate the grill. BeWare of Treager!!!!!!!
Warranty parts with treager …
I had a Ryder issue with just one year of use. I don’t use my particular unit very often as I’m a single man. The customer support knew my issue was able to get me a part. Unfortunately the part came and they said it was the replacement like for like part. It wasn’t. The red I had, had a plug in the middle. I had to completely dismantle the unit to replace it. I had to get online to figure out how to fix it as no instructions were sent with the new part. I am a multi-ticketed tradesman. This was a complete pain without directions. As well even the YouTube videos didn’t work as they have cheapened out by shortening all the wires so the controller you have to remove won’t move far enough out to replace this unit. Upon opening I found three or four other things that are going to become issues with use of this unit.

We bought a lemon
After only 13 months our grill stopped working consistently. We replaced a couple parts and less than two months later it started heating up inconsistently again . Customer service essentially told us the grill was working fine . We were left with a grill that was unreliable and we had no recourse .

I have been repairing my Timberline…
I have been repairing my Timberline 1300 for months and this company could care less about expediting the warranty and even lost my order 2x this month alone for a replacement drip pan that I ordered 20 days ago and it's still not in transit. Do your research and you will see all over YT and TP that this product is junk and needs constant repairs. Nothing sucks more than wasting an expensive piece of meat because your new $1300 smoker is a lemon. I highly suggest you find a better brand. This thing was an issue right out the box. In the first week I had to replace the control panel and then the thermocoupler etc. Get used to working on this junk like a 1979 Gremlin.
We are new to the Traeger Family
We are new to the Traeger, but it has made a good smelling kitchen. New ideas are flowing throw the house.... Ok grocery bill my be a bit higher lol all for the right reasons..
But the biggest reason for my review is the PACKAGING I wish I could share a pic, of the inside the box play house for young kids..... with door and window cut outs.... WOW to the last touch.
Thank you for thinking outside the box and putting it on the inside the box.... GREAT IDEA!!!! MOM approved!!! Kids played for weeks with just a box and camp outs in the box... It was great for everyone.

Traeger is not to be trusted with manufacturing defects
First the fan next which was needed to turn the auger would not turn, Traegar sent me another, installed fan auger turned. Started to fire up grill according to directions. Pellets would not end up in fire pot. Called Traegar again. They looked for a person to come to my home, but I lived to far, but I could bring to get the work done. I don't have a truck. It is a Big Money Waste OF Trash Now! Beware don't buy from Traegar. Plus, the sticker in the pellet box states passed all inspections.

I have not even received the grill and I’m already writing a bad review. And I’m a 29 year old who works 80 hour weeks—not the type of person to take the time to write a review. I understand shipping delays and I’m not so annoyed at the fact that the grill deliver is delayed bc fedex is delayed. I am absolutely irate that traeger did not communicate with fedex and that I have called four times now with traeger refusing to help me determine where the grill is and when it’s going to be delivered. Traeger customer service literally said to me: “well it’s not like we’re the ones who actually deliver it so it’s not something I can help you with.” They then passed me to fedex again and again who of course didn’t help. Until I made sort of a stink did they conference in fedex who advised that the grill will actually be days late (fine). But traeger offered no “customer service” given that news. I took off of work to stay home for this delivery and have received nothing but non-answers and unclear timelines. It’s just not worth the hassle.

Bought a grill at Costco - the salesmen Quinn was absolutely fantastic and could not recommend enough.

So far ok. Damaged product delivered maybe not there fault but they are willing to fix anyway. Hope mine works better than some of these reviews though....a little worrisome if I'm honest. Customer service was great just waiting on auger and new box. We are supposed to be making monthly payments on this thing we have great credit hope we don't get stuck into something we have to keep paying for that doesn't work like some of these people are saying they're doing :( don't do us like that traeger we love you :)
I recently purchsed a Treager…never again!
I recently purchsed a Treager Timberline 810 from Costco. After assembling and cooking a few times I noticed the cooking times were way off. I placed an oven thermometer inside the oven of the Treager and noticed the inside oven temperature was 50 degrees off from the digital display on the Treager. The Treager would read 300 degrees the interior cooking area 250. I contacted Treager customer service and after doing a zoom call it was determined that I needed a Thermalcoupler. I installed it tried it and again 50 degree difference, I actually bought a new oven thermometer. Called again same song and dance from customer service this time determined to be a entire control panel. Thank god I'm handy, I think an electrical engineer would have problems installing the panel. Once completed again tried and again 50 degree difference. Called a third time and after getting frustrated I asked to speak to a manager. I should have been talking to the wall, all employees had the same script. The manager believed it was the auger assembly and told me once I replaced the auger assembly the grill would be like brand new. I had to remind the manager that that was the point THE GRILL WAS NEW! I asked if Treager could send me a replacement grill, the answer was no. The next day I disassembled the grill and returned it to Costco for a full fefund. I have notes and names of everyone I spoke to. I expected better from from Treager

Called support to ask why I should have to pay $100.00 for a new Temperature Control when they cant even guarantee that's the problem. I told them I was not willing to pay more than $50.00 (going price of non branded one online), and will send back my old one. I was told, only if they go through all the trouble shooting AGAIN with me via video link. Hard NO. My husband and I have spent numerous hours following every troubleshooting video from them there is. I have replaced the Thermostat, Hot Rod and Fuse. I do not have more time to waist with them. Husband wanted an upgrade- fine, as long as we go with a different company!

Traeger needs to upgrade their thermostat technology! They need to give easy functionality to change pause mode on smoke mode only. They also need to install a secondary thermostat near the top to monitor actual temperature. This feedback needs to regulate actual internal temperature to dialed setting.
Does not stand behind their product…
I have the Ranger and it has not worked right since purchase. Its been a year since purchase. Since we have been traveling I have not been able to address the issue. Today 11/11/21 I attempted the install of the new controller they sent me. You have to take it basically apart to install the new controller. This is alot of work and time Asked if they could arrange postage and shipping to a repair station, its still under warrenty. They told me its a SELF SERVICE REPAIR WARRENTY
Not what I would call standing by the product. Will never buy another product from them again.
Not better than a master built electric smoker
I broke down and purchased a Pro 780 wirefire model, 3 weeks ago. Previously, I have been smoking on my master built for years. I will give my smoked rib experience. I used hickory pellets, St. Louis style ribs and cooked in the traditional 3-2-1 method. The first thing I noticed there was little or no smoke coming from the grill. I did research and I guess it is a "BLUE" smoke not the traditional white smoke. The unit could not control the temperature. It ran 20-25 degrees over the set temperature for the entire smoke. The end result: The ribs lacked a true smoke flavor and had little or no smoke ring. Overall this is not even close to my master built electric wood smoker. This grill works better as a grill than a smoker. I am going to return it as it has no value for me. I have a smoker and a grill.
No cover as promised
I purchased a "scout " portable grill at Costco. The sales person assured me they would ship a cover to me. It has been 2 months and still no cover. I contacted them and the projected another month. Surely they order the covers when they manufacture a grill. Very poor customer service.
Very happy new Traeger owner
Purchased Pro22 product through AAFES online. Took about an hour to assemble using their easy instructions. Signed up for Traeger APP and viewed a number of excellent recipes and videos. After completing initial test fire I cooked my first bbq (2 whole chickens and salmon)and it was outstanding. Used it again a few nights later for some chicken thighs and wings. Got high marks from family on my new found cooking skills! Traeger makes it easy. Very pleased and would highly recommend.
Traeger Grill - catches fire (fully engulfed) and Customer Service Does Nothing

I started the Traeger via the smoke mode. As normal, after the smoke engaged I turned the temp to 450 degrees and closed the lid (preparing to cook steaks).
A few minutes later I went to check the temp and noticed it displayed a temp in the 500's which I have never seen before.
I quickly opened the lid and flames were fully engulfing the unit and rapidly increasing.
Flames were at approximately 7' high just under the patio cover so my wife called 911.
I then grabbed a towel to hold the side handle and pulled the Traeger out from under the patio and began dousing it with water from the garden hose.
Fire dept arrived and checked the patio cover structure for any problems and determined we were "very lucky the house did not catch fire.".

Called Traeger (1-800-TRAEGER) and spoke to David. Recapped yesterday’s incident and he said to email a description and include supporting pictures.
I sent the email and pictures to Traeger.

Called Traeger and spoke to Charlise. I asked if she had received my email and she said yes, looking at it now. She then said she would review with her supervisor and put me on hold for 18 minutes. Charlene then came back to the phone and said “since you are past the 3 year warranty there was nothing she could do for me.” I then asked to speak directly to the supervisor. She put me on hold for another 10 minutes.
After 10 minutes Charlise came back and put her supervisor (Nathaniel) on the line and she dropped. I asked Nathaniel if he has reviewed the pictures and supporting documentation and he confirmed he had. He said “those pictures are scarey”. I said yes, my house cam very close to catching fire.
Nathaniel then went on to say there is no coverage due to being past the 3 year warranty. I reiterated the fact that if my house had caught fire we would be having a different conversation. I am just looking for Traeger to back their product and help me get into a replacement Traeger. Nathaniel then said “sorry nothing I can do”. I then said this is a horrible display of customer service and I am very disappointed. Call ended.
