Completely worthless. Go with anyone else.
Completely worthless. First, when trying to get information on covered options during an travel delay, I was stuck in a looping robotic phone tree, unable to connect with anyone - when I got a call back some time later they were no help at all. Post trip, the claim was denied for what was a completely legitimate claim in the spirit of the policy, but of course excluded in over a hundred pages of legalese.

It is an insurance regulation/law that we require validation of the policy owner to submit the beneficiary in writing (via email) to Travelex at customersolutions@travelexinsurance.com. We are unable to accept a specific beneficiary name over the phone or online.
In regards to the dates online they are formatted as MM/DD/YYYY, which is month, day, and year.

6/26/26 Travelex/Zurich listened to my concerns and I’m happy to edit my review after we came to a satisfactory resolution. 4 stars only because it took months. Thank you!
I understand the pre-existing limitations regarding a medical issue for myself and my husband. My situation was unique in that unexpectedly I had to care for my sister who had a heart transplant, bilateral strokes, and necrotizing pancreatitis. We planned the trip but then her husband ran out of FMLA due to her 4 month hospitalization and her own house could not accommodate her care needs. This was totally unexpected and occurred suddenly after we had scheduled a spring break trip with our grandchildren. We do not believe that the initial date of her hospitalization should have been used to make the determination as normally my sister’s care would not have pertained to our travel plans, but rather the date that we were suddenly told she would need to discharge to our home. We have now lost $5000 due to our compassion. In our unique case, Travelex had no compassion.
I received a reply from Travelex stating Zurich American Insurance Company had made the determination. However, Travelex is the company that I purchased the policy from and I feel is ultimately responsible.
5.6.26 Sadly my experience reflects that of many others who state Travelex is slow to respond or non-responsive in addressing complaints. Travelex had indicated on 4/17 that they would review my claim. However, I have received no response whatever despite inquiring again. If you are considering this travel insurance, I strongly recommend that you do not just go by their overall scores. These consist mostly of those who have had a good experience with purchasing but have not actually had to make a claim. Read the reviews of those who actually made claims before purchasing from Travelex or any company who has Zurich administer the policy. I wish I had.

Needed travel insurance the first time I bought it
I bought travel insurance for the first time in 2025, for a trip to Italy. After just 30 hours in Italy, I slipped and broke my ankle so badly that I needed surgery. I chose to return to the US for surgery. I called Travelex from the gurney in the ER. They took care of everything to get me home -- the flight (business class, because of the splint I was in), with a nurse (because I had traveled alone), ground transportation in Rome and Raleigh. It was an awful situation, but would have been a lot worse if I'd had to figure out getting home alone, and out-of-pocket, in that condition. Plus, Travelex reimbursed most of the tour, making it possible for me to go back to Italy in 2026 -- with Travelex Insurance, of course.
