excellent service!
Birdwatching Chile gets my vote.
Had a great time with Rodrigo Reyes and Carlos (made sure we arrived at our destinations) and Birdwatching Chile for two days in early March. I was in Santiago preparing for a trip to Patagonia with a group and wanted to see some of the bird life in the Santiago area. I booked both the Coastal Range and the Seashore/Costal Wetlands trips. So glad I had the extra time to do so.
Rodrigo met me at the airport and we went about an hour north of Santiago to a national park (La Campana) which is a UNESCO designated area. I fell in love with the palm trees, the Chilean Wine Palm, some can be 800 years old. If the wind is blowing, listen, and you will hear them singing. As all birders know, high noon can be the kiss of death for viewing active birds and we did run into this, but I did manage to see about 15 new species, including a Tufted Tit-Tyrant and an Austral Pygmy-Owl. My flight landed at 915 AM so this put us in the heat of the day for exploring. We missed some of the endemics that we had hoped to see but there is always next time.
The second day was a trip to the coast and north of Valparaiso and then on to a few wetland areas. AMAZING. Humbolt Penguins, 3 species of cormorants, the beautiful Inca Tern, coots in abundance, and the Many-Coloured Rush-Tyrant. Thanks to Birdwatching Chile I saw some amazing landscapes and picked up at least 50 new life birds.
Rodrigo is very down to earth and very knowledgable about the habitats that support the birds we love to see. There are many birding guides in Chile and I am sure they are all very good and professional but I had a great two days out in the field. The only thing I missed was a guided tour of Santiago (I needed an extra day) that my travelling companions were able to enjoy but you cannot always do it all. It would be fun to do birding and wine tasting. Rodrigo does offer this option too.

We had two day trips from Santiago with Birding Chile. Very good service and the guide was very knowledgeable about both birds and the areas we visited.
Birdwatching from Puerto Montt
We were taken on a specific trip to look for birds from Puerto Montt with Birdwatching Chile (part of Travel in Chile) and we had an excellent time. Despite the time at the end of the breeding season, hardly the best time to be birding, we saw our main target species (tapaculos). Our guide Rodrigo was knowledgeable, helpful and friendly. Thoroughly recommended.

A fun day birdwatching near Santiago …
Three of us enjoyed a day birdwatching with Rodrigo in Parque Nacional La Campana and then on the coast a little north of Vina del Mar. We have done a great deal of birding throughout Chile and although we didn't see any new birds we learnt a lot from Rodrigo who is extremely knowledgeable, excellent company, introduced us to new areas and the long day was very good value.
Rodrigo- excellent guide!
Rodrigo was an excellent guide to the birds and Chile. We had three day trips, coastal wetlands, coastal range and Andes. All excellent trips with many life birds. Highly recommend spending time with Rodrigo.
Amazing birding in central Chile
My husband and I spent five wonderful days birding central Chile in October with Rodrigo Reyes of Birdwatching Chile. We covered a great diversity of habitats, including the coast, wetlands and marshes, a Mediterranean scrub area in the coastal range, the Andes at almost 10,000 feet of elevation, and a pelagic trip into the Humboldt Current. Rodrigo proved himself to be a fantastic guide: he is patient, calm, and personable, his English is excellent, and above all he is very knowledgeable about the birds and where to find them. My husband has a particular interest in photographing birds, and Rodrigo found lots of great photo ops for him. Among the many highlights were four kinds of albatross, a close-up Andean condor, and endemics including the moustached turca and crag chilia. Watching a diademed sandpiper-plover as it foraged in a high-altitude bog was a special treat, one we would definitely have missed if not for Rodrigo's persistence and skill. Highly recommended.

Ornithologically very knowledgeable
Ornithologically very knowledgeable professional guide, good and appropriate selection of hotel and observation sites, booking/arrangement process a bit slow and uncertain, but spotless service later on excursions.
