Travelteer Sri Lanka 2025
My travelteer experience has been extremely. My guides were Emily and Chan who were very organised and fun to be around my favourite part of the trip was the turtles and cleaning out their tanks
Sports development volunteer for a month
I had a really good 4 weeks in Sri Lanka with Travelteer. I would say on the sports development program there was a good balance between sports and ground renovation which helped the community and disadvantaged children in Hikkaduwa.
My coordinator Sula was very helpful and friendly and made the experience fulfilling.
Would definitely recommend to anyone interested.
Travelteer review - Sri Lanka
Just finished an amazing 4-week volunteering trip to Sri Lanka with Travelteer, working on both the Medical and Marine Conservation programmes. I gained hands-on experience in healthcare, helped protect marine life, and explored the country. Huge thanks to the Travelteer team and coordinators for making it all so meaningful and unforgettable — I’d recommend it to anyone looking for a rewarding and inspiring adventure!
My group leaders
My group leaders, Rebecca and Jamal were absolutely lovely people and helped make the trip run smoothly.
Nepal Travelteer - can not recommend enough
The Travelteer Nepal project has truly been a life-changing experience. The Peaks to Peaks tour, led by Wangda, offered a rich journey through the country’s culture—ranging from architectural tours and museums to safari excursions and treks in the mountainous regions. The itinerary struck a great balance between structured activities and free time.
The volunteering element was equally eye-opening, guided by Sakina and Snigda. It gave us the chance to build meaningful connections with locals and gain insight into their way of life. From an educational perspective, we explored the differences and challenges between state and private schooling, while also identifying infrastructural needs such as building new classrooms and bamboo greenhouses.
A special thanks goes to Paula from Travelteer, who did an outstanding job in organising the trip. She not only ensured everything ran smoothly but also joined in the activities, creating a fun and welcoming atmosphere while managing any challenges with professionalism.
I’m having the best time!

Every part of the trip to Morocco was a great experience with the variety of opportunities not many others get. Our trip coordinator, Liz and our in- country support was amazing making sure we were always okay and had things like water consistently
Be sceptically, optimistic
I’ve just spent 4weeks in Sri Lanka and my what an incredible experience it has been. By my university providing me with the opportunity to go to a new country in Asia for the first time, funding and through an experienced company.
Firstly, about Sri Lanka, such a beautiful, lush green country. Waking up to palm trees and peacocks! The friendliest of people (mostly) and the coordinators (Sula, Umesha, Dilanka) I thank you for being so welcoming and kind when doing the volunteering aspect.
When it comes to the Travelteer accommodation, organisation and logistics. I have to say it wasnt the finest from arriving at around 10PM at night in Sri Lanka, I was expecting to just go straight to the accommodation but no… I got delivered to a restaurant with all my luggage and exhausted. Plus no food is provided at the accommodation on Sunday. So if you’re arriving later like I did bring some noodles or something. My first impression of this organisation was not the best.
Plus, my programme in general wasn’t was i thought it was due to the Travelteer website and how it actually is in Sri Lanka expressing a bit of misinformation. For instance how there would be a launderette on site (not true) and breakfast is provided on weekends (true, but you make it yourself) but a bit of misunderstanding on the website.
I did the sports programme and it was fun as in the afternoon you get to have a good sweat sesh with the children when playing sports! In the mornings you’re painting. Though it does get tedious after doing the same thing for a week and sometimes I feel I’m not making much of impact as I thought I would be doing SPORTS DEVELOPMENT. I honestly thought I’ll be coaching, teaching new sports or doing a good ole sports day with the fundraising money we all gave to the charity to help fund new equipment for these kind of activities.
I’ll be honest I’m not so sure where my fundraising money goes as I haven’t seen where it has gone to within sports but hopefully it does eventually.
Would I recommend - Yes for the experience in a new country and basically fully funded from the Turing Scheme if a Uni Student. Plus it’ll look go on the CV.
Be aware you may need more money for spending and weekend activities.
Thank you!
Incredible Experience with Travelteer!
I joined Travelteer for a charity challenge and had the opportunity to explore the beautiful country of Sri Lanka. From start to finish, the team—both in the UK and on the ground in Sri Lanka—were absolutely outstanding. They took care of every detail, from ensuring we felt safe and supported, to organising fun activities and providing amazing local food. It was a truly rewarding and amazing experience that I’ll never forget!
Big shout out to Laurence, Lawrence and Ruchi who made the trip seamless from start to finish.

I had the best experience with Travelteer. They helped me so much to prepare for my trip. I went to Sri Lanka for 4 weeks and it was honestly amazing. I will be joining them again in Vietnam next summer.

Credit card fee's on top of an already overpriced trip. My daughter had signed up to a Sri Lanka trip through school. The Trip itself is expensive, i recently travelled to Thailand with my 2 daughters, so 3 of us (including food, activities similar to the travelteer trip, etc) for the same price of this trip. To add insult to injury, i wanted to pay an instalment by credit card and the only option they gave me was to pay over the phone with a 2.5% charge, disgusting! These 'for profit' corporations and the banks made enough off of us already! Shame on them.

My Magnificent Morocco Experience.
Let’s start at the beginning, since we got picked up by Liz at our school, Liz was welcoming and approachable from the start. Throughout this experience I have loved every second (sure at times we might have not been able to stick to the itinerary- but the spontaneity was accepted with open arms and made the trip flow better). Furthermore, I appreciate the opportunity this has given me, for example I was able to see into the lives of the people living in the Atlas Mountains, and how they are enthusiastic towards education, also I enjoyed learning simple phrases in Arabic from our tour guide Jamal. Finally, being able to stay under the stars within the Sahara Desert was extraordinary, and the feeling of wholesomeness and fulmiment I received when giving to the community was undefinable. I would recommend this experience to anyone willing to put in the effort throughout the process as although this was mentally (seeing the hardships people face) and physically ( trekking, etc…) demanding I would not have asked for any other experience.
Had a great time
Had a great time. The trip we made by travel coordinator Lizzie and tour guide Jamal! Overall a really rewarding trip and an incredible experience.

Rosie May Sahara Trek with Travelteer…
Our Sahara adventure with Travelteer was absolutely fantastic from start to finish! Everything was so well organised — from smooth airport transfers to comfortable transport throughout (including our trusty camels!). The logistics ran like clockwork, and the team made sure every detail was taken care of. Our guide Jamal was truly exceptional — knowledgeable, funny, and full of heart, he brought the desert to life and kept spirits high even on the toughest days. The food was a real surprise too — fresh, varied, and far more delicious than anyone expected in the middle of the Sahara! A huge thank you to Travelteer for an unforgettable, once-in-a-lifetime experience.
Sahara Trek 2025
What a seamless experience! And that’s said whilst completing one of the most challenging charity experiences!
As an ex-teacher, it was very much like being on the best organised school trip ever!!!!
From airport transfers in comfortable air conditioned vehicles to well chosen beautiful hotels, before moving on to the main event which was the desert trek all with excellent management.
The five day trek included amazing meals prepared daily, a camel team, fresh drinking water to keep us hydrated in the desert, camping amenities, a safe environment all of which met our needs to complete our charity challenge.
Jamal our guide was a champion with a great character, who was with us from arrival in Marrakesh to our departure. He shared local knowledge, and used his expertise and experience to guide us through each day, all with a sense of humour and care.
Thank you Travelteer for making all the difference with your superb organisation in supporting the Rosie May Sahara Trek.
My daughter and I have just returned…
My daughter and I have just returned from a Sahara trek, it was absolutely incredible, from the airport pick up to organised visits to various different places to experience what Marrakesh has to offer.
The trek itself was so organised, the food and camps set up for us was fantastic. The team who assisted us on the trek were second to none. Our head guide Jamal was just the BEST. He trekked every step of the way with us , providing us with all essentials you’d need to endure 38 degrees of heat and long treks. He was such a great host , we ate great food , cooked fresh by the camp chef. Had wonderful black tea and delicious biscuits. Amazing breakfasts , lunch and dinner. The tents were put up and taken down by the team. Which meant we could leave camp to start walking as early as possible, to beat the midday heat. There isn’t a single thing I could say to criticise the whole trekking trip and experience.
I’d highly recommend using the company to anyone that was considering trekking the Sahara. Jamal is an absolute definite must have to make your experience the best it could be.
Thank you travelteer and Jamal.
A Truly Memorable Experience
I had the most wonderful experience on the Rosie May Sahara Trek. I really can’t think of anything travelteer could have done better. From start to finish, everything was perfect, we stayed in amazing, friendly clean hotels, during the trek, we had an incredible leader Jamal, who not only guided and looked after us, added humour and laughter along the way, the food was delicious, I was in no hurry to get back to English cuisine. Tents were set up on arrival. I would highly recommend them, they think of everything to make your trip truly memorable. Thank you so much.
