Great service but rough braking
Great service, easy to book, very quiet trains. Only downside is that the drivers of the train brake too hard.. I experienced it on multiple journeys on the Tbilisi-Batumi-Tbilisi train. Smooth braking would make the journey much more enjoyable.

Online ticketing: beware of pitfalls
Several issues to point out:
1. Club membership is supposed to encourage people to be loyal customers, with Georgian RailRoad providing some little incentives in order to its customer base. And when I say LITTLE incentives, they're really tiny, but even there, tre.ge manages to cheat people! Tbilisi-Ureki trip that is around 300 km, is "credited" towards your Club membership level as 80 km, so instead of 8 round-trips to reach a 5,000-Club level, you'll need to travel 63 times!
2. When booking a trip, most people prefer to be seated in the direction of the moving train. In fact, that's why we pay an additional fee for a seat selection option. However, the carriage floor plan doesn't show the direction correctly, so your seat of choice often ends up facing the opposite way. Even when buying in person, you can't get the right direction, as the ticket operators don't see it properly, either. Should be a simple thing to solve, yet, the company doesn't care to get it resolved.
3. When booking a ticket online, with no membership, you see a certain "website transaction processing fee" - say, 2.17 GEL. If you opt to sign up for the "Club membership", it would show the same fee as 3 GEL, reduced "just for you, as our new member", to 2.25 GEL, which is still higher than the original fee, minus all the hassle of filling in your data. Such bait-and-switch tactics should be beneath the state railroad, yet, here we are.
P.S. I love how reviewers are asked to be honest and constructive, yet, the company forgets to extend the same courtesy to its customers.
