Be wary. Make sure the brand of part you are getting

I went to them in Asheville, NC, to get a replacement battery for my Dell XPS. The brand new battery only lasts 3 hours. When I called them they said they don't guarantee to use the manufacturer's parts. But I went to them because they are an authorised Dell repair shop!
They say they have to keep the laptop for 48 hours to diagnose the problem or I have to pay $80 plus for expedited service.
Since I didn't want to pay them more, I asked my son to help. He ran a battery health report and found that the battery they installed is a new Dell battery. He found that the battery went from 85% to 12% in two hours but said that is unfortunately quite common. He also adjusted settings in chrome that should help it last longer.
I recommend that they should
1) tell customers if they are not using OEM parts
2)give some expectations about what battery life is likely to be.

WORST IN MY LIFE:

WORST IN MY LIFE:

Below is the breakdown:
1. 23-day wait – Be prepared for looooong wait time.
2. Cheap build parts – I was promised “Real OEM” but the store installed cheaper “OEM-style” parts. My 1st screen replacement defective. 2nd incompatible.
3. Price trap – When their cheap build fails, I was asked to pay REAL OEM which costs ~50% more of original pay.
4. Customer service black hole – (3+) calls to get to real customer assistant, (2+) days waiting for a case manager assigned, (9+) emails with no settled solution.
5. Asurion insurance trap – It’ll take 3+ calls to cancel—especially if store assistant input the wrong phone number for my account.
6. Broken devices returned to me – Their “fix” was giving me back a still-broken laptop.

Misleading pricing and poor customer service

Google told me to bring my Pixel here as they are an authorized service location. They also said there would be no fee to investigate the issue. That was a lie. They charge $30. However, they were the only store nearby that had the part in stock that I needed for my phone and that could provide same day service. Since this is a work phone, I didn't have the luxury of waiting several days for any other store to order the part and fix it. The quoted me a price for the repair but failed to mention that taxes were not included in that quote and that they would charge more if I paid with a credit card so it ended up being nearly $40 more than quoted! They also said they would call (my wife's phone) when the phone was ready, in about an hour. I waited until it was nearly closing time and called to inquire the status. No one answered so I got in my car and drove to the store only to find out that the phone had been ready for the past two hours. Rather than call, they texted. When I mentioned that this wasn't very professional as text messages can go unnoticed if the phone is not in your hand but a call would be heard from anywhere, the employee just shrugged it off. No apology. Again, not very professional. In the end, the phone works but I imagine just about any phone repair shop could do that. Next time around, I'll be choosing one that doesn't mislead you about their pricing and that provides better customer service.

It is a business fraud, simple like that with evidence.

I had a battery needed to be replaced with my iPhone. They called me back and said it needed a new screen also because the screen was bent by the old expanded battery. That made sense to me. But when I took back my fixed phone, I immediately realized that the screen was my old screen with the screen protector I put on it. I took back the phone to the shop and asked them that possibility. The guy casually said that he replaced the screen protector for me free. I went back home and googled more and learned that the iOS system can tell you if a new authentic screen was replaced. When I checked that, the battery was in fact new and authentic, but not the screen. They charged me $150 for the so called new and authentic screen for not doing their job. It is a complete fraud.

This place is the definition of a…

This place is the definition of a corporate conflict of interest.

I brought in my Galaxy S22 Ultra for repair due to battery overheating and a burning smell—a clear safety issue. The phone was in Samsung’s Maintenance Mode, which is designed to allow secure diagnostics without exposing personal data.

Instead of investigating, the technician demanded I disable Maintenance Mode without explaining why. When I declined, they performed zero diagnostics and immediately declared it a non-repairable motherboard failure, telling me to pay a $250 deductible through insurance.

Turns out? Samsung reviewed it themselves and approved a full repair for free. The device was defective—not damaged—and this shop never even tried to diagnose it.

And here’s the real kicker: uBreakiFix is owned by Asurion—the same company that would’ve profited from my deductible. So the same entity refusing to repair the phone is the one pushing the claim that benefits them. That’s not just bad service—it’s a dangerous corporate loophole that preys on uninformed customers.

If I hadn’t escalated to Samsung myself, I’d be out $250 for no reason. This isn't a repair shop—it's a funnel into an insurance racket.

Avoid this location, and frankly, rethink doing business with any repair center owned by your insurance provider.

I had a laptop not lighting up (not on) and took it to ubreakifix in Crown Point Indiana--they were ready to help expedite my laptop (wife's Drs needed responses). Could have been a $200 battery (it was dead--or a power cord (unusual) they tested and the battery was GOOD BUT rhe power cord was bad (very unusual)--I had brought an old cord from another laptop and they tried it and it worked. They could have charged me for a battery and cord wo me even knowing BUT they didn't and they did a terric job in cleaning up my laptop that had been corrupted for a very good price. Even went thru s couple of layouts for messages/etc I didn't like and they patiently fixed ALL the ones that I didn't care for. They are certainly customer focused!!

I do not recommend this place to anyone

I do not recommend this place to anyone. RIP OFF!!! On Sept/Oct 2024 I took my daughters phone to get repaired. Her screen went black/green and the phone wasn't functioning well. They put a screen that cost me $300 but it wasn't an official Iphone screen. The phone started messing up again but February 2025 came & the phone did the same exact thing and stopped functioning. I took it back to them and they informed me that the iphone isn't functioning well because it needed the "authentic" iPhone screen put on which goes for $400+ and that something inside the phone wasn't functioning properly. I refuse to pay that or even the difference since I already knew that they didn't know what they were doing. For that amount I could've taken the phone to apple directly. If they saw that the phone was messed up from the beginning they should have said it's not worth fixing it but instead they took my money and I ended up having to purchase a new phone anyway. So I lost out on $300 and spent money on a new phone. Never Again. Stay Away.

My review is specifically with my experience at the 501 Westport Ave, Norwalk, CT 06851 location.

I took my phone into UBREAKIFIX a…

I took my phone into UBREAKIFIX a simple Hinge repair on My Z-Fold phone. There was nothing internally wrong with my phone. Working perfectly. I was texted a few hours later saying my phone was ready. When I went to pick it up, the store rep Ryan just handed it to me folded in the off position. So when I got into my vehicle I tried to turn my phone on but it wouldn't turn on, I thought the battery was dead so I tried charging it but it wouldn't charge. Ubreakifix had closed already, I picked my phone up about 5 minutes before they Closed. So when I returned the next explaining that the phone never would turn on, Ryan tried to tell me that it was working when he gave it to Me yesterday (lie # 1) and I said NO it wasn't working at all and that's the way you returned it to me.( Lie #2) He said maybe the battery that came with the frame work that was replaced on my phone was defective, therefore you can reopen the first claim and we will replace the battery. And pick it up the next day around 11am. The next around 2pm i noticed that I never received a phone call from UBREAKIFIX, so I called them and inquired about my phone, the lady who answered asked the person next to her about my phone and he said the phone is IRREPARABLE and to call Assurion so they can get Me another phone. I said U, F🖕🖕D MY PHONE UP........ This place has people working there who don't know what they doing. I wished I had read reviews on UBREAKIFIX before going in there, there are a lot of horrible and similar experiences by other Customers. That was a simple procedure that has turned into a VERY UPSETTING NIGHTMARE. They don't deserve not even a 1 star ⭐

Scam Thermal Padding

They charge $80 dollars for thermal padding repair. One can buy 100 sq. mm. (enough for several computers) of *high quality* thermal padding for $30. I wouldn't be surprised if they use thermal padding less than $10. I guess the other $70 plus tax is for unscrewing the bottom of the laptop and literally laying the padding down.

Lousy service

I have AT&T as my cell phone provider. I subscribed to Assurion for phone protection.

My Galaxy S10 got a couple chips on the screen. Assurion told me that I could not get the screen repaired (advertised repair cost of $29.00), so I had to buy a NEW phone for $125 and then return the old phone after all data was transferred and then erased from old phone. When I got my NEW phone, it was NOT NEW; I got a refurbished S23. I felt uncomfortable transferring data, so I called AT&T store, but they would not transfer the data because I didn't buy the phone from them.

Instead, I had to go to an Assurion store (uBreakitIfix) so I called the closest one. They said to bring it in and after they checked my Assurion account, they told me the transfer work would be free. I brought it in about 11:00 AM MST. I left another cell phone number for them to call when it was done.

About 6:00 PM MST (they close at 7:00 PM MST), I called them for a status update. I was told they couldn't get into my phone because it was locked. They also said I didn't leave an alternate phone; I told them I did and the man who checked me in wrote it on a slip of paper. The said they didn't have it.

I told them how to get into my phone and asked how long to get it done since they closed so soon. They checked the new phone and told me it needed to be charged (they hadn't done that yet?!!!) and that it would take about 30 minutes to get enough charge on it. I told them I would stop in about 6:30 PM MST as I was going to be down there anyway. When I got there, the phone was still in data transfer stage, but I took it anyway; I was told to keep the phones close together until transfer was complete.

After the data transfer, it took me another hour and lots of frustration to complete the process that I expected them to do if they had started in time.

Lousy service from AT&T and Assurion. I will cancel my Assurion protection plan!

Very disappointed

I used the Nampa branch to try and fix my computer... they tried fixing then said after a week that it couldn't be fixed... so asked them to pull off my files and pics... another two weeks of nothing... finally called they said oh its been done for 3 days... no text no phone call nothing... the gal said they called but that was a lie. Then when I went to pick it up they told me they got the data transfered to an external drive... got home and nothing... they did absolutely nothing and charged me for it. Will never go there again.

Can I give them zero stars

Can I give them zero stars? What a waste of time. Dropped off a MacBook with a broken display was given an estimate and told it would have to be sent out for repairs as no one in the store knew how to do it. 2 weeks later they call and say it’s going to be $300 more than they had estimated. I still have to may the $60 “diagnostic fee” and I’m out the two weeks it took them to scam me. I really think they just make their money on the diagnostic fees and bait and switch. STAY away!

OMG THE SERVICE IS SO BAD ..I can't believe how they treat customers

OMG worst consumer service ever and
They charged me for parts they did NOT install ...I was ripped off.

1. when i enter the store i called hello for quite a few times before a guy named chance came out.

2 if wasn't a phone tech i would have thought he was mental slow ..i think i woke him up from a nap

i explained my phone was not charging

3. i told him i was leaving town the next day for a weeks and i needed my phone before 2pm he said it would be ready

4. when i came back the next day it was not ready as promised. after I repeatedly told him i need it before 2pm. he said he had to do checks on it

5 came back a week later to pick it up and it was not charged ( it was on 1%) how did he do checks if he never charged the phone

6. on top of the store are ridiculous open tuesday to saturday from 11am till 5 pm

he had no people skills ..horrible horrible service. No wonder they have so many bad reviews

I was charged for services not rendered you said you put in your battery but my phone was not charged and it still does not hold a charge I'm calling the Better Business Bureau
because you charge me for services not rendered.
than they respond with a phone number with a voicemail that said
" the number you have reached is not excepting calls"

Phone Battery still does not stay charged for than 4 hours
I have filed a report with the better business bureau

SCAM

SCAM. SENT switch in got estimate and paid after they had for weeks then call to tell me they needed more $ and it was different this time and then charged 60$ cancel fee when nothing states in there policy that. The lady at Hamden connecticut is the biggest scammer location when they acted like there building where they get packages for repair is a separate business location yet the same lady at that place answered there store phone today lmao. They will scam you don't send here trust me. It's disgusting that 250$ to replace a port and then after she says they spoke with the tech who looked it over and came to that decision was now it's more to cover the same part location I paid all ready for. Then want 270 and owww it magically has liquid damage now which by saying that closes out my warranty under repair fix, never had water touch it once. The lady got put in her place and had nothing to say and then 3 times back tracked her story on the part I needed to pay for was included then wasn't and then owe im reading more now as she said earlier the same thing but failed and changed it to it was included so I had my switch sent back and charged 60$ still what BS I WILL SEE YOU UN COURT. unfortunately for you I have no liability form signed or anything and a recording of our agreement contract which in Connecticut is just as good as a written agreement. Asurion covers this business to. Sick part.

South Huntsville AL store rip-off!

Went to the South Huntsville, AL store. They didn't tell me how much it was going to cost. I had read somewhere that the digitizer (glass) replacement was about $120. So when it was finished, they said that my glass replacement was $359! What a rip-off! I should have checked in this site first to see their rating and I paid the price for not doing my research. This company is a bunch of scammers. I would never trust this company ever with anything. Didn't disclose the repair costs and just gave me a huge bill that I had no choice but to pay. Buyer beware!
