We live in a rural area without fibre…

We live in a rural area without fibre and the internet we could get was awful and a cause for many arguments in our home with 2 gamers and 2 others who wanted to watch Netflix etc… we decided to get Starlink and it’s been a game changer, everyone is so much happier as no one is fighting for internet! I cannot recommend this enough. We’ve had Starlink around 6 months now. Never drops out, speeds around 300 mbps, running 2 gaming pcs, netflix, 5 mobiles, a ps5 and still no lag!

Consistently awful

Consistently awful.

If you plan to use this WiFi for anything involving real-time interactions, like calling or gaming, then this isn't the best option for you.

Speeds are typically slow, occasionally acceptable, but this means nothing if the connection is jittery and unstable. Packet loss is horrendous.

Prices are outrageous: £75 a month for the service and £300 for set up.

The satellite service is probably good for rural areas but please for the love of god do not use in urban areas.

Brilliant, but......

The device could not be any easier to install. plug it in... that's about it. HOWEVER, don't expect to have any control over your home network AT ALL. Even IP ranges are fixed (there's about 6 to choose from)... no port forwarding, no SMB... ZERO configuration options. - Don't let that distract you from the fact that once installed, it runs like a dream. The 'line' to the sky is always present, zero downtime, zero glitching. Its an amazing feat of engineering and extremely well made. (not like a cheap plastic v!rgin box) - Zero technical knowhow required, and frankly a lifesaver if you're in an ISP black hole. Starlink MUST get around to addressing the config-ing problem though, because this will put a lot of people off. (there's always a workaround, you just have to get your thinking cap on) - Remote access is also achievable with a little work. Tech support.... if you ever need it (I'm guessing its designed so that you don't) -- is terrible. You need to run the Bot gauntlet first, then eventually get to open a ticket, and days later may get a response. *MUST TRY HARDER ...oh and..... you WILL need to buy extra hardware, and currently the market is saturated with ripoff priced pole adapters and such, you have no choice, even SL charge £60 for a bit of plastic! (I may change this though.... might start ebaying starter kits at cost just to set the market on fire)

Thank God for Starlink

Moved into my current property in the last month. As usual rang the utilities to get everything transferred.Couldnt believe it when my ISP stated they couldn't provide any service. Checked all the other ISP and all I was being offered was 4G/5G services. Checked with Openreach and after much debate I was told my exchange was full, no fttc connections available, the exchange wasn't in a priority fttp upgrade programme but if I wanted i could have fttp on demand ( custom install with a starting price of 5K, max speed of 350mbs and a monthly cost of £60)
Toyed with the idea of using 4G/5G but everyone i spoke to that used it in the village stated it sucks, constant drops plus when the package says unlimited there were fair usage policies. No good for me as we stream everything, I'm an avid online gamer and my avg monthly usage is anything from 700gb - 1tb.
I purchased the new standard non actuated starlink, but costly at £300 but what was i to do. The kit arrived within a week and I set it up just using the kick stand in the garden. WOW I couldn't believe the speeds I was getting but needed a more secure place for the dish. I purchased a wall mount from amazon and at first it seemed fine. I then noticed when gaming I was getting terrible latency and even drops from various servers. The whole family stream so I knew there was an issue when all devices started buffering. When checking the obstruction map I noticed my house and next doors was blocking the dish, I was seeing drops and outages of upto 10secs. I purchased a 10ft steel pole and a pole mount, set it in the garden approx 8ft from the back of the house. The obstruction map shows that the dish now has a clear sky and the only outages I see is when there is an update which is done in the early hours or there is the occasional sub 1 sec, think I've had 3 in the last 24hrs. I'm now getting an avg speed of 190mbs, peaks at 400mbs but can be as low as 75mbs. When we had all the high winds from the tail ends of the last 2 hurricanes that hit the states there was no impact but I did question once or twice my concrete.
Latency is normally 25-35 ms so great for gaming but it can vary.
For someone who has a household that is full of gamers amd streamers and can't get a decent fttc or fttp connection then this is what you need to get but it is pricey at £75 per month.
I will say that if they do update my exchange to fttp then sorry Elon but you can have your dish back.

Rural area, poor internet connection, Starlink only the only option

After many year’s experiencing very poor internet with bt cable in rural area, being frustrated at struggling to work from home, streaming programs, took the decision to give Starlink ago.
Jumped in the car, purchased from local supplier, back home 30 mins later set up and connected. Unbelievable, for those of us that are not tech savvy, can only compare it as riding a donkey for last 10 years to now riding a top racehorse that doesn’t want to stop.
With no site of any improvement from cable or broadband in rural location I live, Starlink is absolute changing experience for me and my family. I have not needed to contact Starlink customer services so my review is solely about the product and it’s performance, which at the moment is faultless.
The cost of purchasing and monthly subscription was the biggest concern when first considering Starlink. Now experiencing home life with such high internet connection speeds, we have made couple of cut backs on other things and will remain with Starlink for as long as this remains the only option we have in area that we live.

Cannot fault the product or backup

Cannot fault the product or backup, instant replies when contacting them, they sent updated cable, then updated full system without any request from myself other than I had an intermittent problem with my original set up.
I feel that a good review simply doesn’t do justice to how great this Company is, the product and staff do all the talking!
Can’t stop telling people who enquire how we get on with the system how good it is,
Thanks Starlink

This is a zero star review

This is a zero star review. I tried their satellite dish a couple of years ago, couldn't get it work and returned it after a week. They did not give me a refund on the dish, and to this day they still send me emails telling how I can return the dish (just received one today)

Joke of a company. Their tech doesn't work. Their support is non-existent.

Excellent connection

Having been with BT & getting a massive 2mb connection due to no fibre optic connection ,I then moved on to Konnect a French satelitte company but the latency was awful ,then tried EE with a 4g router but sadly speeds of 10mb & at most but not often 20mb I turned to Starlink ,difference is night & day ,1st speed test 197mb 2nd 235mb ,at long last I have proper broadband ,yes its expensive to buy & at £75 a month but I'm in a rural area so no choice ,highly recommended

Game changer for rural areas!

We ordered Starlink about a month ago after BT refused to fix our line any more as we kept getting faults. With BT we were guaranteed 1mbps but rarely got that. We plugged our Starlink in (installation was easy) and were immediately able to get 230mbps! It is expensive but we are very happy with it so far.

system failures

It has been difficult for me to interact with customer support as it is all internet based. That proved a real problem with starlink failed and no reliable mobile data signal. My first system failed after a couple of days. Replacement delivered less than a week. However second system failed after less than 24 hours. Both failed with the same type of fault (router unable to communicate with dish). I have just recieved my 3rd system, so fingers crossed. For the limited time of operation I have been very impressed with internet conectivity. I just hope it will last list time

Awful servive

Awful servive. Device is easy to set up but the range on the router is no where near as good as sky. Tried it for ab hour and decided to return for full refund, 3 weeks later and 6 failed attempts to return with DHL and I am no closer to a refund or sending the kit back. Service is dreadful, AI answers and they respond without answering satisfactorily then close the ticket as resolved. It's hard not to swear at them. How they got a rocket into space I will never know.

Ps... Adres a enkele malen doorgeven
Een wat staat er op de verpakking...m tot 2 x toe... Alleen plaatsnaam, mijn naam en telefoonnummer.... GEEN ADRES

IN ENGLISH
Reporting that you have damage...there is no response. The same message also states that they forgot to send something. They will respond to that. The cable to receive the satellite is long to the wifi router within two places but the quality is poor. No reception in another room. That is why I ordered the Ethernet Connect so that you can provide a better connection internally in the house with a separate router

BUT that cable is only 50 cm long and the RJ45 connector is therefore in the open air... -10 to + ...30?
And moisture...
I canceled the subscription, but you cannot get a return address even though they say all money will be refunded within 30 days.... Should I be able to send it in, right?

I sent Ellon m. a Twitter message in the hope that he reads it.

Ps... Pass on address a several times
What does it say on the packaging... up to 2 times... Only place name, my name and telephone number.... NO ADDRESS
Dont buy!!!
