We do offer a framing service which you can select once you get to check out. We're sorry that you maybe missed that when ordering, but we are sure that your friend will find an appropriate frame for their star map.
Each Star Map is custom made and printed on high quality paper. We use 200 GSM smooth fine art paper and print at 300 DPI resolution as we believe this gives the best results. Typical poster prints are 120-140 GSM. For this reason, the posters themselves are a little more expensive.

Wonderful idea but let down by not using glass
Wonderful idea and was looking forward to gifting my wife on our wedding anniversary.
A little disappointed as the map has no detail or writing to identify the stars, just lines and dots. Apparently certified by astronomers but to be honest it could be just patterning as we have no way of checking.
The frame (wood) was ok but to use plastic and not glass makes the item feel cheap.

First of all we would like to assure you that you have indeed purchased a quality product. Each Star Map is custom made and printed on high quality paper. We use 200 GSM smooth fine art paper and print at 300 DPI resolution as we believe this gives the best results. Typical poster prints are 120-140 GSM.
The paper we use is designed for archival storage and is acid-free, making it highly resistant to aging. It is also lignin-free, ensuring it will not yellow with time.
Each frame is handmade by a team of specialist picture framers and the print custom framed. Our frames are created from high-quality wood usually solid ash or similar, with hand stained satin finish.
We use perspex rather than glass as it is much lighter to ship and has a lower probability of breakage.
We are indeed the only star map company that has been independently astronomically verified.

With respect to the constellations that appear on your Star Map we have emailed a link to you which lists all of the constellations that appear. We chose not to add the constellation names in to the Star Map purely for aesthetic reasons. When we tried it, we felt that the star maps looked cluttered and gave a much cleaner and aesthetically pleasing appearance, without the names added to the Star Map.
I hope that all of the above information will help reassure you that your star map genuinely shows the stars that were above you at your special moment in time, and that the star map itself is a high quality product.
