I ordered a voucher and realised I had put down the wrong address. I emailed them to correct this and they got back to me straight away. Great service! The voucher arrived nicely packaged. Would definitely recommend

Finding Uniquely Local, Yorkshire based gifts and experiences, has made gift buying a real pleasure. We have just enjoyed a weekend knife making experience at Environmental Arts, a Blacksmith’s Forge based in Malton, just under an hour from home yet without the carefully curated list of possibilities managed by Uniquely Local we might never have found it.

The experience was bought to celebrate my husband’s birthday. I struggle to find gifts for him but on coming across Uniquely Local that problem is solved for years to come. Rachel, the person behind the website, is extremely attentive and knowledgeable. Questions are answered promptly and the interface between Uniquely Local and Environmental Arts was managed exceptionally well. I am sure that this will be the same whichever of the experiences is chosen.

An email from Piers Edsall the Blacksmith, set out the basics of what we would be doing. That was printed off and given to my husband on his birthday. We were extremely lucky in getting places for the weekend just after the birthday so we didn’t have long to wait.

Day one of our weekend involved hammering, then hammering some more, so much hammering! The forge roared, in time, our little bars of carbon steel took on a knife like shape. Four of us attended the course and it was a pleasure to see each making progress. Piers managed us beautifully, our metal bars were extracted from the red hot forge one by one, after a minute or two of intensive hammering the metal became too cold to work and went back into the flames. That person now watched as the other participants each took their turn with the hammer.

An excellent lunch, warm and hearty tagine, gave us strength to complete the day. We went home exhausted but satisfied, curious to see what day two would bring.

Sunday was spent filing, polishing, grinding, sanding, hardening and tempering the knives and then fitting hardwood handles that we whittled to our chosen shape. Another excellent warm lunch was provided by Malton”s The Cook‘s Place.

As if by magic, two memorable days ended with each of us proudly holding our unique chef’s knife. An amazing weekend superbly facilitated by Rachel at Uniquely Local and delivered by Piers Edsall at Environmental Arts. Already looking forward to a next Uniquely Local experience.

Very easy to order the voucher I wanted, and received an email straight away with the confirmation order number. Within 2 hours I was advised that everything had been processed, and posted out to my partner....this is a surprise present for his "big" birthday!!!

I had some initial inquiries regarding the gift vouchers which were answered promptly. Also the website did not support posting to an address outside of the UK but this was sorted very efficiently through email contact. Great initiative to support local businesses. Also helpful and efficient

I was lucky enough to be given a voucher for afternoon tea and crafting for two at a popular soap making venue in Sheffield. Unfortunately, when I repeatedly called the shop to try and book, the phone was never answered or my messages replied to. I contacted Uniquely Local to explain the situation and was advised that the person running the crafting business had lied that I’d already booked and redeemed the voucher, so Uniquely local paid out the value of the voucher to her, and she had since done a bunk. I doubt that I was the only person who this delightful individual did this to. Uniquely Local were wonderful. They honoured the voucher, extending the period for which it was valid so that I could redeem it on another experience. This obviously left them out of pocket as they’ve had to pay out the cost of the voucher twice through no fault of theirs (or mine). I don’t hesitate to recommend them; absolutely faultless customer service and lovely people to deal with.

We used Uniquely Local to send vouchers as a wedding present. The process of ordering the vouchers was really simple and an e mail was sent to the recipients with 48 hours along with all the information they needed to redeem them. Absolutely delighted with the service and will definitely use the Company again. Thank you,

Had a voucher near expiry for an experience in York today, struggled to redeem it on the companies website last night.
Sent a FB Messenger to Uniquely Local's website late evening, (after 9pm) thinking it wouldn't get picked up until the morning, but within minutes "Rachel" replied & said she would look into it for us.
A few minutes later she messaged again to say she had located my wife's booking of the voucher & contacted the company we wished to redeem it at ,& would stand the difference in price too, (it must have gone up).
We arrived to find we had been booked in and all went smoothly.
A fantastic response and many thanks to Rachel for going way above & beyond expectations.😀

I was using an elderly iPad mini and initially the purchase would not work. The staff were extremely helpful, went to a lot of trouble to sort out the issue and phoned me the following day to see if all was well. They suggested various alternative ways to facilitate the purchase had I not thought to try on a different device, which worked easily, just like it should. I was most impressed by their thoughtfulness.

I ordered a gift box with my gift, it arrived quickly and in time for my friends birthday.

Dave the Bee Keeper is really enthusiastic about bees and he makes the experience very interesting we did the 3hour experience and there's plenty of opportunity to have hands on experience without getting stung.
If you want to try something different and would like to know about bees, this is a great start.

Once I understood the booking method after receiving my gift voucher the process was easy and UL were quick to deal with it. You have to ring to book the provider but the benefit is one then can speak with the person.

Booking was very easy and the lunch we had at Coghlans restaurant was excellent.

Lots of choice for all tastes and hobbies. Great gift ideas for special birthdays. Easy to purchase and was available to download almost straightaway. The per son I bought this for was over them moon with her alpaca walk gift experience!

Great website with an amazing selection of experiences available. Bought a £75 voucher for my partner for her birthday, and we’re really looking forward to leading through all the different listings to find a great day out somewhere.
