This is the second year our child has attended camp at Ackworth School. They absolutely love it. We were easily able to book their place and being able to use the tax-free childcare, makes it so much more affordable. They go for one day a week over the summer holidays but we are considering sending them over the other school breaks too because of how much they enjoy it.
They love going because of the kind staff, who remember them from last year and the activities from playing outside, swimming, creative art, and dancing. It is such a great experience for them and I would highly recommend it to anyone!

My son always has a great experience at camp. He enjoys all the activities and sports, he never wants to come home!! The staff are always amazing and engage and support the children. Thank you x

Our nine year old really enjoyed their first day with this camp. Lots of activities and lovely leaders.

Would have been useful to have a reminder email the week before camp started to confirm booking and what they would be doing for week ahead/what they should bring.

Staff are poorly paid. My daughter worked at Moorlands school Leeds as a lifeguard and was paid £5:31/ hour, so staff are very junior and don’t return.
There are much better childrens’ clubs on offer in Leeds with more motivated and experienced staff.

I've booked United Education camps at Moorlands for several years and for good reason. My 2 kids started the Adventure camps when they were aged 5 and 3, attending what is now called Mini explorers which they absolutely loved - loads of fun, messy play and running around outside. Since then, they have attended as Junior or Wild Explorers and have also done the week-long Survival camps. The activities at camp are so varied and always include lots of time outdoors, playing games or going on walks in the woods. There is absolutely zero time to get bored!! The staff are just incredible, all really friendly and engaging, I have never once worried about leaving my kids there and they always come away happy. Nowadays they really enjoy Survival camp, building and cooking on an open fire and learning bushcraft skills. They genuinely give the kids something different at United Education camps and the bonus is that it's a full day too, unlike some camps which start mid-morning or finish early. I can't recommend the camps and their staff highly enough.

I am proud to be working for such a progressive and forward thinking company. United Education trains their staff to be able to recognise the different personality types of each child in their care. This is so they can best adapt their activities to suit them, so your child leaves each day with us having the best experience possible. It is evident that children are truly the heart of this company.

We've just done October Half Term at Rishworth and it was excellent. The Camp lead - Ellie - was superb and our son loved every minute. Aside from the activities being varied and interesting, our son loved the new timetable that was pinned up showing all the activities for the week and the new achievement badges he worked towards. He couldn't wait to go in each day and is really looking forward to the next one.

I don't know where to begin with my praise for this company, but here goes...

Mid pandemic last year as a student I was looking for some summer work and I discovered the camps that United Education run. Every employee that I came across during the onboarding process and then on camps were driven, kind hearted and passionate about changing children's lives in a positive way.

My colleague's ranged in specialisms and came from a multitude of backgrounds, some being; sport-related, bushcraft/outdoor education, acting and performing arts and many more. The standard of session delivery was inspiring and I feel extremely privileged to have had the opportunity to work alongside them.

When I joined, the virus was creating many barriers to the 'normal' running of camp. United Education persevered and adapted to the restrictions in place and were able to provide an incredibly high standard of childcare across the UK. The legal restrictions on activities such as swimming and excursions were difficult but we rose to the challenge, brought our skillsets together and got creative with our activities across the sites. The most important thing for us as staff was to create a safe and fun environment for the kids to learn new skills, make new friends and be outside, away from the stresses that the virus had created for so many. From the feedback I have received from the parents and children I believe that this aim was achieved.

As a company, the team not only care about the children but they have a really strong emphasis on staff development and career progression. Since the beginning of last summer I personally have moved from Activity Leader to Site Manager. The processes in place to enable employees to grow whilst doing a job that they love is great and I think it is what makes them stand out from other camps and childcare jobs I have previously worked in.

I am so glad I found this company and I hope to continue working for them as they expand across the UK and then hopefully overseas as well!

To anyone thinking of applying.... DO IT.

This was my son's first experience of the UE camp. He's only very young, so it was hard to exactly gauge what he did each day, although he did always come home happy. The staff were friendly and helpful, although not naturally forthcoming, so I was quite nervous leaving the first few times. When we got to know them, it became a lot easier. Despite being told there would be swimming, this never happened. There could have been much better communication about what to expect, what actually happens, and where exactly the camp was, as it was not easy to find. I also think advertising was very poor. Very very few people in the area know it was taking place, which was a shame, as I think it would have been much busier. I would certainly use again, but there are areas for improvement.

A wonderful company to work for, they truly care about ensuring children make the absolute most of their holidays. The staff are highly qualified and incredibly passionate about what they do, and the venues chosen are of the highest standard. I couldn't recommend them more highly.

A great experience for my both children,experiencing outdoors learning and social interaction

We were so excited to enrol our daughter in this camp, but it didn’t live up to expectations. I’m really sorry to say. When they made pasta necklaces, someone took my daughter’s pasta by accident and when she asked for more, they said they didn’t have any, so she didn’t make a necklace. No one bothered to remember her name at drop off. It just didn’t feel very personal. The pool was closed that week which was one of the main reasons I booked this camp over the holiday club at her school. We should have been informed in advance. It was booked out to a different swim camp, which would have been in the diary a long time ago, so we should have been informed or it should have been advertised as not happening that week. In fact, there were many things in the sample timetable that they simply did not do like den building, trampolining, cheerleading - these activities were not timetabled. This and no pool - I just don’t understand why the activities are so different to what was advertised in the sample timetable.
They did boomerang making on a sheet of paper! It’s paper not a boomerang. It just seemed very low resourced. I also feel that the activities for the week could have been emailed or put on the parent portal. Unfortunately, it just didn’t live up to our expectations.

My children have tried various holiday camps in London and other cities and United Education are definitely in the top three of all time. Really friendly staff, dedicated person for your child, fun activities, someone with them to help them with lunch, getting changed etc. I felt they were well supported and well entertained, not just chucked into a mass of kids with generic leaders, where their needs can easily be missed if the are not confident or old enough to ask.

Fantastic summer club for my 5 and 7 year olds. The children loved it and ask to go back. This is the third year we have used United Education / Camp Xplode in Leeds and would thoroughly recommend. The staff are great and go the extra mile, help deal with the challenges and nerves of it being all new and help then settle. We will be going back!

My 2 children went to the Gresham's site at Holt. I hear the activities were largely the same as for any usual holiday camp ....but so overpriced! £54 for full day 8.30- 5.30pm..and no lunch. North Norfolk prices!

Really disappointed with the camp activities. Advertised as an outdoor adventure type camp with forest school type activities, den building, woodcraft, etc. In reality they played hide and seek games, capture the flag, used the on site playground, did indoor art and crafts (gluing things together) and indoor party games. Perhaps 1/3 of the day was spent outdoors. My son is 10 and I booked this as the weather forecast for the week was excellent and I hoped he would spend all his time outside in the beautiful grounds of the school hosting the camp. Advertising very deceiving - nothing like reality.

This United Education review is really a tale of two halves. My daughter loved her survival camp experience, the activities were fun and appropriate, she made friends, felt perfectly safe carrying out the activities such as fire lighting and chopping wood and had a great week. She enjoyed the optional camp out and the afternoon zip lining so she gives five stars. From the parent perspective I feel there are improvements to be made so I only give them three stars. Compromising between us they get a four. More thought needs to be given to early drop offs on the first day. If a parent is bringing a child for extended early hours there should be a sign-in form completed at the start of extended early hours and relevant information provided at this time. In reality you turn up, hand over your child to a complete stranger who doesn’t introduce themselves, doesn’t ask what session they are there for or for any details about your child and away you go. Fine if you have a confident child who is prepared to ask where they should go once the sessions start not great if you don’t so they end up in the wrong place!
It would be nice if parents were provided a timetable of the week on day one showing when activities were occurring so, for example, a swim kit is provided on the right day. It would be nice if parents could see the area their child would be in so they have confidence in the organisation of the sessions and safety of equipment and finally it would be nice if there was better communication between the venue and office so additional extras can be paid for easily. Small niggles maybe but they massively enhance the parental experience and consequently parental confidence in the programmes.
Overall the experience for her was great and i will know what to expect next time.

The boys really enjoyed the various daily activities and the staff were extremely friendly, helpful and encouraging. They were very inclusive of one of our sons who is severely autistic and managed him very well indeed. Highly recommended and hope they will be back in West Norfolk for the next holidays!

Would suggest a little more local advertising as I had no idea these camps were available untill I did a google search .

Unfortunately, she was poorly and by the time she was better it was the last day
It's the first time Alana has described a day as awesome and thoroughly enjoyed it totally.
Also her attitude was so positive afterwards.
I really recommend this summer camp as it covers all parts of growing up.
