DO NOT USE!

Unfortunately, I did not read all the One Star reviews prior to working with this company. They will quote you a lower price and increase the price the day of moving based on their miscalculated original estimated “cubic feet” calculation. They nearly doubled my cost for the shipping and my list did not increase. As for their customer service, it is terrible. This is the first time I have ever written a review due to this company’s way they treated me and this situation. I would recommend that you DO NOT work with this company unless you want to be typing a bad review and be caught up in this same dishonest situation.

Writing this review was the right thing to do.

I normally do not provide negative reviews, but this company, I just felt compelled to warn others to be careful and beware.
We spoke with a United First Class Moving representative 2 times, and received 2 quotes, as the 2nd interaction we added a second location for pick up for our move. After we agreed to the second quote, the representative sent us an invoice to pay that was 50% of the quoted cost. 7 days before our scheduled move they called to tell us that our cost for the move had went from the original quote of $7,000 to $12,000, the representative had not quoted us for the correct square footage. I immediately cancelled the move request and requested a refund based on their contract, where United First Class states they have a 20% broker fee, which left $2,100 in refund owed back to us. I attempted several times to contact them via email, as I wanted everything documented since I could not trust what they said on the phone AND the guy who cancelled our service was very rude and condescending on the phone, he made me very uncomfortable, and to say the least frustrated. The 3rd email attempt they responded with a very polite email (which I appreciated given the other interactions I had) advising me that the refund would come as a credit if I used them to move within the next 12 months. I rejected that, 1, I have no plans to move, I own my home and 2, I would never again trust them to give them my business or my money. I turned them into the BBB, they did not respond to the complaint. I also turned them into the Florida AG. If you choose to do business with United First Class be careful and good luck. To the companies that use them as their broker, I regret having to write this review if it hurts you and your opportunities.

PLEASE AVOID

PLEASE AVOID

If I could give them a 0 I would. Complete worthless company. A true scam. Will tell you one price just to get you to send deposit then will increase that price by 7k. Completely unprofessional company. I have text messages that proves that this company is a complete disgrace and fraud. The manager is rude and the employees act like children. Please avoid at all costs. As an intelligent business woman myself this company gets an F. There are so many better companies that actually value you as a human. Avoid this company. It’s a scam.

Honest and Upfront

Overall for folks to know upfront, this is a brokerage company and they don't move your items for you. My first call, I definitely felt like I was being SOLD to, and not listened to, but I decided to go with them because they were one of the best interactions I did have with a company, which is saying something.

After I paid the deposit, it was relatively smooth sailing, and everything they said they would do they did efficiently. This was my first time using a moving company at all, and there are a lot of reviews out there that are misleading since those posters often forgot to include much of what they were actually trying to move leading to increased prices (WHICH MAKES SENSE) later on. I provided an accurate inventory (and actually overstated what I had, and didn't face any additional fees or charges I didn't already anticipate based on the information I was provided.

If I needed to go with a moving company in the future, I wouldn't say no to using this company again.

Avoid at all costs

I booked my move with this company nearly three months in advance, expecting a smooth and well-coordinated experience. Unfortunately, as the move date approached, I received no proactive communication. I had to reach out myself, only to be told that the date was “floating” and that they were unsure of my actual move date—despite the fact that it had already been confirmed and scheduled.

During that same call, the estimate unexpectedly increased from $1,750 to $3,750. While I understood the need for an updated quote based on the photos I had provided—and was reassured that there would be sufficient space for my items—I believed this adjustment would result in a streamlined process. Unfortunately, that was not the case.

Throughout the process, I interacted with three different customer service representatives. Two were professional and helpful, but the most recent representative was extremely difficult to work with and unprofessional.

When the movers arrived, they immediately stated that my belongings wouldn’t fit, despite the broker having reviewed detailed photos and confirmed otherwise. My items were packed into a 47-inch space in my apartment,I had every reason to believe the quoted space was appropriate.

I called the brokerage company mid-move to address the confusion and was met with hostility and defensiveness. Rather than take any accountability, they dismissed my concerns outright. A follow-up call to share my feedback on the poor experience was also met with rudeness and no acknowledgment of the ongoing issues.

After reviewing the contract with my attorney, we concluded that the nearly $2,000 increase on-site was not legally justified based on the agreement in place.

I strongly advise against using this company’s services. The experience was disorganized, the communication was unprofessional, and their unwillingness to accept responsibility raises serious concerns.

Refund Requests Not Honored

Dear Wayne,

We are sorry to hear that you were dissatisfied with your experience. After thoroughly reviewing your file, it appears that your carrier did arrive as scheduled to perform the services. However, on the day of the move, you requested that the movers provide a special packing service for your piano. While your piano was included in your original Binding Estimate, the additional request for specialty packing services resulted in a price adjustment that you declined.

As a result, you chose to cancel the move at the time of loading and sent the truck and crew away. Per the terms of your signed estimate, the deposit you paid is non-refundable once a carrier is dispatched for service, as that deposit secures your reserved truck, crew, and materials. While the remaining balance for the move was not charged, services were legally rendered for the portion covered by your deposit.

This policy is consistent with the rules and regulations set forth by the Department of Transportation (DOT) and the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA). These terms were explained to you at the time of booking, outlined in your signed estimate, and reiterated during your interaction with the carrier at your residence.

We understand this may not be the outcome you hoped for, but we assure you that United First Class Moving and Storage acted in full compliance with all applicable guidelines, regulations, and contractual terms. Should you have further questions or would like to discuss the matter in more detail, please feel free to contact us directly.

Sincerely,
Kourtney Stine

Read all reviews

Just a reminder to read all the 1 star reviews not just the 5 star as the 1 star reviews mostly have the same issue. My issue with them was also referred to the BBB and UFCM&S responded with comments that were never mentioned to me. It appears when they research a complaint they either do not record conversations or don’t bother to listen to them because if they did they would have realized I was told one thing by Grant Weiss and the opposite was done. I recommend if you talk to this company to record all conversations as I wish I would have. Good luck with this company and recommend you look elsewhere.

It is important to understand the legal distinctions between estimate types:
•A Binding Estimate guarantees the cost based on declared inventory and cannot increase unless inventory or services change.
•A Non-Binding Estimate is based on actual weight and may vary at time of move.

Because Dennis’s inventory expanded, we were required by federal law to revise and reissue the Binding Estimate. This updated estimate was sent and electronically signed by Dennis on 10/26/2024, confirming his acceptance of the revised terms and associated costs.

On 10/29/2024, Dennis chose to cancel his move. However, as outlined in the cancellation clause he signed on 10/04/2024, cancellations are only eligible for refund if made in writing within 72 hours unless the move is booked within 14 business days of pickup—in which case, the policy becomes void. Dennis booked within this restricted time frame; thus, his $1,300 deposit was non-refundable. Nevertheless, we extended an option for him to apply the deposit as a full credit toward any future move, provided he gives a 7-day notice.
Sincerely,
Kourtney Stine

Wolf in Sheep's Clothing

Wolf in Sheep's Clothing. I worked with Taylor and Grant from United First Class Moving and Storage to arrange a move from Georgia to Louisiana. Since this move was for personal reason, we were paying for the move ourself and not our work paying for it. Price was the biggest factor in our decision. After doing to full home video tour, Taylor presented me with an extimate over $6,000. I explained to her that i appreciated her time but that was way over budget and we would instead do the move ourself. At that time, I was passed along to her manager Grant who asked what price he needed to me to get the job. I told him i thought it would cost around $1,750-$2,000 to do it ourself. After a few minutes, Grant agreed to do the move for $1,750. I asked how he went down so much from over $6,000 to under $2,000. He said that we had just enough items to fill a 26' truck and since our move was under 450 miles then they would be picking up others items. This all made sense to me and i agreed to the move with United and paid a $750 deposit. The following morning i reached out to Taylor with a better estimate on the number of boxes and again asked if we had access to the full truck for the agreed price. She quickly responded that we indeed had access to the full truck for the price and not to worry about what was said on the signed estimate because Grant had to show less volume to make the numbers work out. Faster forward a few months and we are now 10 days before our move and i am told that the price now is around $7,000. I explain the situation to both Jacob and his manager as well as send the texts between myself and Taylor confirming my statements. In return, I am told that it doesn't matter what Taylor has told me and that i do not have access to the full truck. Jacob says that he doesn't have access to Taylor files and he cannot do anything in this situation. Jacob's manger Bruce again isn't any help and says i need to cancel the move. I do understand what they are saying but both my wife and I were told by Taylor and Grant that this is just paperwork and everything will be fine. I saw some of the bad reviews for the company but decided to go with United because Taylor and Grant did so much to help us in our situation. Jacob then informs that the cancellation means we forfeit our despot since it is outside the 3 day window. I ask how can the salesman provide the false estimated and tell lies all while knowing United will try to shake a customer down a week before the move for 4x the original price. This company is a scam and the salesman are conmen.

Dear Chris,

We appreciate you reaching out and sharing your experience. Customer satisfaction is extremely important to us, and we want to clarify the details of your estimate and address your concerns.

First and foremost, we regret that you feel misled. However, we want to emphasize that you received a Binding Moving Estimate, which clearly outlined the inventory list you provided during your video walkthrough with Taylor. The price quoted was based on the items you confirmed and signed for in that estimate.

Original Inventory List:
• (List of 40 items and 79 pieces)
You then updated the binding estimate to add additional items that needed to be moved such as boxes and furniture. You updated the list after you were reserved and you were given a revised Binding Moving Estimate based on the items you wished to move and space needed for the size of the household goods. As your move date approached, you added a significant number of additional items, including more boxes and furniture, which increased your total inventory by over 1,000 cubic feet. This substantial increase in volume directly impacted the final cost of your move.
Updated Inventory List:    •    (List of 62 items and 146 pieces)
Per U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) and FMCSA regulations, we are required to inform customers of price adjustments before services begin when inventory changes. You were given the option to maintain your original inventory list at the originally agreed-upon price. Alternatively, we provided a revised estimate reflecting the additional items you requested to move.

Regarding your concerns about the deposit, the reservation fee covers securing the truck, crew, and materials necessary for your move. You reserved the truck crew and packing in Dec. 2024. The carrier refused business from other potential customers since December.

Since services were rendered in full to hold your moving date, deposits are non-refundable once the cancellation period has passed. We understand this situation has been frustrating, and we regret that expectations were not aligned.

However, we remain committed to honoring the original estimate if you choose to move forward with your initial inventory list. If you’d like to proceed with that option, please contact us at your earliest convenience so we can finalize the details.

Best regards,
Customer Support
