We had a horrible experience with this…

We had a horrible experience with this company. We hired them to move us from Redondo Beach to the Chicago area. We meticulously videoed each room and counted boxes to ensure an accurate quote. We entered into a BINDING agreement. When they came this morning they randomly added thousands of dollars to the price. They brought up ridiculous up-charges that weren't in the agreement and we had to refuse their service. This is a super sketchy business in our opinion and we are livid.

If I could give zero stars I would

If I could give zero stars I would. I hired this company who brokered my things out to someone else and they hired a third-party who took my belongings and junked everything in a storage unit. It took over six months to find my things. My things were damaged and insurance refused to cover my loss. United First Class Storage was going to refund my money until I wrote a review several months ago and they rescinded their offer and I received nothing. I had to pay over $1800 and still don't have my things moved yet. Do not use this company. Poor communication, service and zero help in getting my things found and moved.

BEWARE OF UNITED FIRST CLASS

I recently hired United First Class Moving and Storage for a 135-mile trip from NC to SC. I listed EVERYTHING they needed to move. Furthermore, I agree with the other review for the "bait and switch". They did not arrive on time. Dec 28th, 2024 at 6:00 p.m I am packed and ready and the driver said it would not fit and re-estimated at almost double the price. I did not have the cash for that, and he said if I had it in SC, I would get my furniture on Monday (this was Saturday night) and I pay them, then. THAT DID NOT HAPPEN. I got my furniture NINETEEN DAYS LATER! And when they arrived, charged me an extra $500 to bring it up to my condo.

Upon opening my boxes, MANY THINGS WERE DAMAGED, and they re-packed a lot of what I had done, and OF COURSE charged for that, too. I saw rocks and dirt in my boxes. I can only imagine how they were handled for that to have happened. My printer must have been dropped; the front screen is hanging by the hinge, an almost priceless hand-carved chess set had no wrapping, only tape around it. The pieces were all improper in their protective box, the hinge was torn from the wood of the folding, hand carved box, and a piece was missing. This item was NOT TO BE MOVED -- I wanted to take it in my car. My winter coat was packed with my recliner!! I had to buy another coat during my month-long wait. I have boxes missing -- never have received my TV soundbar and there are other boxes that contained various items such as important papers, i.e.: my birth certificate. AND....they moved boxes they were not supposed to.

I have started a complaint with the BBB and so far, they are LYING about our contract, saying they wrote up and estimate and "I must have gone with another company". I have an email stating from them....this "other company" would be my carrier. THEY ASSIGNED THEM TO ME...yet lying about it.

Mostly, their customer (dis)service does not answer their phone or text messages. There is one or maybe two that seem conscientious and really try to help, but they work for a company that hides behind "laws and rules" some of which they make up so they can get more money. The delivery driver of my furniture "offered" to leave my furniture at the front of my condo building and I could get it up to the 8th floor myself if I could pay the $500. AWFULLY .... nice of them....*gag*

I have pictures, to show my furniture before and after arrival. I am utterly appalled at their moving practices. BEWARE !!!!!!!

BUYER BEWARE

BUYER BEWARE. DO NOT TRUST THESE BROKERS! I canceled my move the next day, yet they still refuse to refund me. It took several calls and emails to find that put. Please trust your instincts. I wish that I had. An expensive lesson. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY!

Not worth the money

They are a broker. They quote you for the whole move but only control part of it. The moving company will then charge you w/e they want. UFC will charge you twice before even coming to get your things.

They speak inconsistently. I work in tech, Grant described their tech as "an old system" that "uses AI" -- what?

I also said "I was prepared to pay 3150 and hope this new charge doesn't come up to 4 grand"

He said it wouldn't....it was 4600+

They don't take proper inventory until much later in the process, when really it should be first. There were several mistakes on my inventory list and in the end, the movers ended up letting me know they couldn't take several items but should've been prepared for this.

Bruce and Grant are just sales dudes, no empathy and no accountability for poor organization and inaccurate expectation setting. They really run you through the ringer and have 0 bedside manner.

Grant sold me by "warning me" about another company and UFC proceeded to do everything they swore the other company would do.

They confidently gave me a date of arrival but they don't control that, the moving company does, so now not only am i out thousands more dollars than I have, I also can't move in on time.

Do your research first, communicate via email when you ask questions so you have written proof outside of the contract jargon and don't let these guys fast talk you/sweet talk you.

If you try to hold them accountable, they brush you off to the movers when they're part is done. If I get a response to this, I wouldn't be surprised if it was very defense/blaming the customer/etc. RED FLAGS all around.

Hello Cairo,

We appreciate your feedback and are sorry to hear about your experience. We want to take the time to clarify some details and address your concerns.

First, regarding the software, we do not develop moving software, nor is it AI-based. The system we use was created in 2006 and is a standard industry tool for managing moves.

As for your inventory, the initial list of items and services you requested was provided by you on 01/29/2025, listing 55 pieces to be moved. This list was included in the Binding Moving Estimate, which you signed and confirmed prior to scheduling. At that time, you also indicated that you would be packing everything yourself.

On 02/09/2025, during our follow-up review, you updated your list, adding items such as TVs that required packing, along with materials for mirrors and computer screens. These additional services and items increased the move’s total volume by over 10%, which required an updated Binding Moving Estimate reflecting the extra packing, materials, and labor costs.

You were informed that adding these extra services would increase your final price. Initially, you chose not to add them, sticking with your original estimate. However, on the day of the move, you requested the movers to pack and transport additional items. At that point, the movers provided an updated price before loading, and you agreed to move forward with those additional charges.

Your requested loading window was 02/11/2025 - 02/12/2025, and the movers arrived on 02/12/2025, as scheduled.

We understand that unexpected costs can be frustrating, but the price increase resulted from the additional services and items you requested beyond the original estimate. We always strive to be transparent and ensure customers understand all pricing and service details before the move takes place.

If you have any further concerns or questions, we are happy to discuss them with you.

Sincerely,
Customer Support

Bait and switch at its best

Bait and switch at its best. Quote one price , then conveniently call you days before your move to "verify" that they have given you an accurate quote, then jack the price up 3x what the original was, telling you you have much more than was disclosed at the original bid. The verification call comes AFTER the 72-hour grace period for cancellation. They kept my $ 1000.00 deposit and did NOTHING. They are not movers, but brokers, so you don't know who is going to show up at your door! I would NOT trust the glowing reviews you see posted. Stay Away from these people.

Dear Don,

We are sorry to hear about your experience. However, we do not have a record of a customer by the name of Don in our system, and we believe this review may be intended for a different company. If you could provide a job number, we would be happy to look into this matter for you.

To clarify, we always conduct a welcome call within 24 hours of booking to confirm all details. If we are unable to reach you, we leave a voicemail, send an email, and follow up with a text message. If there was any misunderstanding regarding your estimate, we would have addressed it during this call.

Yes, we are brokers—as are approximately 75% of moving companies. Carriers are on the road performing moves, and their offices primarily function as storage warehouses. As your broker, we handle customer service, date coordination, inventory updates, packing material orders, pickup scheduling, and delivery tracking. We also assist with claims, should any issues arise. Your Binding Moving Estimate is created based on FMCSA guidelines and agreed upon by both you and the assigned carrier, ensuring that both parties adhere to the same terms.

If you believe there was an error or miscommunication, please provide your job number, and we would be happy to review your case. We take these concerns seriously and want to ensure you receive accurate information.

Sincerely,
Customer Support

Horrendous Company

Unfortunately, zero stars are not possible, which is what I would have given this company. I contacted them in October of 2024 to facilitate a move from Ohio to Florida. They were initially helpful and gave me a very reasonable rate based off my description of my belongings fitting into a 10x10 foot storage unit. I clearly explain to the employee, Austin D., that I have not physically seen the storage unit containing my belongings, and he generated my estimate based of the dimensions I provided. I thanked him profusely for the reasonable rate and he said, "you are actually helping our company fill the truck. No one moves over the holidays." My move was December 22.
On December 19, I received a call from an employee wanting pictures of my belongings. I reexplained that I have not seen the unit, movers in Ohio had placed my belongings there as I live in Florida and restated that the items fit into a 10x10 foot unit. This is when belligerence and outright unprofessionalism occurred. He stated that my moving costs could be triple the original quote and I was accused of wanting something for nothing. They then said that they were not honoring the estimate, and they would simply leave a portion of my belongings in Ohio if I did not purchase more space on the truck. Why was I offered that rate in the first place? I now believe it was a classic bait and switch, which sadly, I fell for.
This company "facilitates" the move - and I use that term loosely. Essentially, they took $350.00, gave me a false estimate, connected me with a subcontracted mover (Always Thrive and Prosper LLC) and provided no communication, zero customer service (Jacob - the customer service rep claimed to be my point person and added monumental stress to my move) and connected me to a company that delivered my things 17 later than promised. When I called United First Class moving for help in locating my belongings, they stated that they stood by the movers they handed me off to "up to a point." I contacted my local police department, as I was beginning to think my belongings were stolen due to lack of communication with me. The police department indicated, after hearing my story, that I was likely the victim of a scam.
When my belongings arrived damaged, I called them to file an insurance claim only to find out that I was provided basic insurance that covers 60 cents per pound per item. This is a fraction of the cost of repairing my items, one of which was an antique that I specifically mentioned needed to be handled with care. All four legs are now broken off with very little concern by this company. I was told that the drivers of the moving truck should have explained my insurance options. This was not done. Additionally, the subcontracted moving company, Always Thrive and Prosper LLC was not responsive when I tried, on my own, to track down my belongings. They also forced me to pay in advance of my belongings being taken off the truck. If I did not, they would simply drive away and charge me for storage. Please do your research. Any reputable moving company collects payment only after the move is complete. Essentially, my belongings were held hostage until I paid before seeing if there was any damage or if things were missing.
This company will add a great deal of stress to an already stressful situation. Please do yourself a favor and bypass this company. They do not provide any customer satisfaction survey and have no avenue of leaving a review. You also risk an exponentially higher moving cost than what was originally discussed. It has become very evident why customer satisfaction surveys are not a part of how they do business.

Dear Maureen,

We are sorry to hear about your experience and would like to address the concerns you raised in your review.

We understand that you initially estimated your belongings would fit into a 10x10 storage unit, but in order to provide an accurate quote, we require length × width × height dimensions or a detailed inventory. Since you were unsure of the exact dimensions, we conducted a thorough inventory review with you. This inventory was documented in your Binding Moving Estimate, which you reviewed, checked off, and signed to confirm accuracy. To ensure there was enough space, we even included 50 additional large boxes (24x24x18) in case any items were unaccounted for.

We assure you this was not a bait and switch. When the movers arrived, it was discovered that your storage unit was actually a 10x20 unit, stacked floor to ceiling, which significantly exceeded the original estimate. Since the moving cost is based on volume and services requested, the increase in cost was necessary to accommodate the additional items.

Our customer service representative, Jacob, worked with you throughout the process, from loading to delivery. During delivery, you reported some damages to items that were packed by you personally before pickup. Jacob provided you with all necessary information to file a claim and also assisted in communicating with your assigned carrier on your behalf.

Regarding insurance coverage, at the time of loading, you chose to waive additional insurance and opted for the free basic valuation protection, which covers $0.60 per pound per item as required by federal regulations. This was explained to you before your move. Unfortunately, long-distance moves do carry some risk of damage, especially when items are pre-packed by customers. Improperly filled boxes, lack of protective wrapping for fragile items, and stacking stability can all impact how items arrive.

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience you experienced during your move. While we do our best to facilitate a smooth moving process, we also strive to address concerns when they arise. If you need further assistance, we are happy to help.

Sincerely,
Customer Support

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.. They're a bunch of thieves. I spoke to Taylor and gave her a list of the items I wanted. They wrote up the quote for the wrong sizes and then want to charge you for square footage. downsizing everything so they can charge your more later. If you cancel, they want to keep your deposit. Grant, supposedly a supervisor is worse. He's lies and just tries to get more money out of you. I requested a 53' semi and he tried to sneak a quote and tell me it's 2500 sq feet. I looked it up and a semi is actually over 3600 square feet. Another try to get more money out of you later. Read the fine print. Besides the quote, they want 20% more for a brokers fee. BUNCH OF THIEVES. Once again " DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY", you will regret it.

Dear Mr. Morales,

We find your review misleading and lacking key details necessary for readers to make an informed decision about our business. To clarify the situation:

When you initially booked your move, you reserved a 26-ft box truck that could accommodate 1,169 cubic feet of items, based on the detailed list you provided to our representative. You received a binding moving estimate tailored to this inventory and secured your reservation by signing the agreement on 12/20/2025.

On 01/03, you contacted our customer service team to request a change in your pickup date to 01/16 and mentioned the possibility of adding more items. You were clearly informed that any additional items would require a revised estimate and could increase your total cost. At that time, you updated your inventory, doubling the required space to 2,100 cubic feet, which required a larger truck, additional crew members, and packing materials. You were then given the the updated price long before loading. You reviewed the list and signed off on the estimate stating that would be everything needed to be added.

You later stated you would need a semi tractor trailer you believed and you had missed everything in the garage and a work shop full of huge equipment and tools. You identified even more items that were not included in the revised estimate. You wanted to add an entire work shop that was left off completely by you during the original estimate. Your move now required a 53-ft semi-trailer to accommodate the additional items, which was a significant change from your original request. By law, we must provide a revised estimate before proceeding with services when additional volume is added. You were presented with the updated cost and ultimately chose not to proceed with the move.
A 53 ft semi holds up to 4200 cubic ft. You revised the list up to 2100 cubic ft, signed for that then on 01/13th called back stating their was even more to add and you thought you would need a semi tractor trailer.
Calling us “thieves” is inaccurate and unfair. We provided a binding estimate based on your provided inventory and allowed modifications before the move to ensure transparency. However, when items exceeding 10% more than your reserved volume were added on moving day, an There is not 20% broker fee—your deposit was to secure the dates, and dispatch the truck, crew, and materials, and the remaining balance would have been paid directly to the driver and foreman.

All pricing and terms were provided to you in writing, and we made every effort to accommodate your updates before the movers arrived. We strive for honesty and fairness in pricing, but accuracy in inventory is crucial to prevent unexpected costs at pickup.

If you have further concerns, we encourage you to contact our customer support team directly.

Sincerely,
Customer Support

Do not use this broker service for your moving needs. Their communication is poor, their estimating service is way off, and for some reason they do not disclose important information like when delivery may be or how to get in contact with the actual moving company. By far my worst experience while moving. I wasn’t offered any recourse or help.

This company is horrible

This company is horrible! Fraud!! Don't waste your time or money. They are a rip off I was told that the cost was $1700 but when they got to my home they tripled the charge to $4200. Not to mention you pay "$700 reservation fee" to book your moving service first. The customer service/representative that book your "appointment" will be in touch with you constantly until you pay the reservation fee then they gone ... No response when I called/texted. After paying my fee I was told I would be put on the schedule for the next day Sunday for pickup/moving..That was a lie!!!! Then I get a call from Anthony.. the so called set up trip manager saying that he did not have me on the schedule for Sunday pickup but for the following Tuesday from 7-9am. I received another call from Anthony changing my time to 4-7pm. When the movers arrived like 6ish. They did bare minimum. They looked around and took some pics sent it to Anthony who then told me I was over and the charge was $4200. I told him the price was different from my initial price ... Anthony asked me numerous times how much money I had giving these large recommended amounts
$2000+ to give to the movers that where in my home.. I told him $4200 was not a feasible price and to give me back my $700.. Anthony then said "no refunds". I asked how is that if he didn't provide any services to me... Anthony starting getting nasty and repeatedly said the price is $4200. After a couple of minutes he hung up th phone. I tri d to call back and he did not answer. I reached out to the customer service team and no response.. ..
WARNING...Add these people and company to the do not disturb list!
I will be filing a complaint with the BBB.
