This is a scam

This is a scam. We booked a 4-star hotel in Okinawa last June 2021 for a 6-day stay via unsold.com. We called up the hotel a couple of days after reservation to confirm our booking. The hotel confirmed our booking. However, 3 days before the check-in day, we called up the hotel to notify we’d be checking-in late because we will be taking an afternoon flight. But the hotel said our reservation has been cancelled by our travel agency. We were not even notified about the cancellation. And the money was not refunded to us.

Worst experience ever!

Worst experience ever!. I bought a voucher for Santorini back in Feb, 2021. Called the hotel and everything was good till two days ago. I called again to ask a simple question and they told me that my reservation was gone, cancelled on August, 5th. I was SOOO disappointed!. I had to book the days again, and the hotel made a good price. Either way, this is an overhead of money I was not expecting to pay.

I also received the message from Unsold as many of you did. I replied to it stating I will initiate legal actions if the money is not reimbursed, but nothing. You get an automated e-mail, and good-luck.

In short, as I said at the beginning, WORST EXPERIENCE EVER! Better to book with hotel directly these days. The pandemic has brought to life a lot of scammers!!

I paid 550.00 for a voucher to use in Hawaii but decided I didn’t want the hotels they offered In Honolulu and booked through Hilton Hawaiian Village in stead! So glad I did. I was going to use the voucher for NYC but now I’m calling my CC Co for a refund. This is a big Scam!!

I was worried that I had lost my money for a trip to London I had booked, so contacted the hotel. My booking was visible to them and I'm here now having arrived yesterday enjoying my holiday. Check with the hotel you were allocated hopefully yours will be visible with them too.

Unhappy

I bought two vouches for 4 people: 2 rooms in Maldives. I already purchased airfare for these dates and was SOOOOO looking forward to this trip. Now I received an email from my hotel saying that the reservation is cancelled and the unsold.com site is down for maintenance. I just can't believe that the deal "too good to be true" appeared such a scam. What is everyone doing now? waiting for few more days or calling their credit company? how are you guys planning to get the money back?

I don't want to even give them one star…

I don't want to even give them one star supposed to be travelling in 2 days time just found out they've gone bankrupt and not only have we lost money but have to pay again for accomodation. We didn't even get an email. Bad form unsold.com -

For those below calling it a scam I don't think you can when those people who got to use their vouchers were very happy; they obviously had poor business practices using money that wasn't theirs to keep the company afloat until it went bankrupt - I would say fraudulent behaviour. In Australia an administrator would be appointed to deal with creditors - not sure how it works in the states. Happy if anyone finds out a way to make a claim.

I was also victim on this scam

I was also a victim on this scam. I had bought 6 vouchers. I hadn't used any yet. But I had planned my holidays starting by the end of this month and now. I only managed to book one out of 6 vouchers and turns out I'm not even sure it won't be cancelled before I get to the hotel.

Sadly nothing to do... I can't believe how this ended. Around 2K lost here. I send them an email and this is their reply:

"Dear consumer,

We regret to inform you that despite all efforts, Unsold.com has been forced to cease normal business operations effective immediately and will not be able to fulfill your future travel reservation(s).
Our business has succumbed to the unrelenting effects of COVID-19, including the new delta variant that continues to wreak havoc on the travel industry with extended government-imposed travel restrictions, hotel closures, limited availability, rising fulfillment costs, and massive cancellations, all resulting in exorbitant unforeseen costs. These factors have made it impossible for Unsold.com to continue operations.

Please contact your hotel or accommodations-provider directly for information related to any pending reservation(s) you may have.

Humbly,
Unsold.com"
