United Kingdom
Utopia have been the most disappointing British company to purchase from. We would definitely not recommend them to anyone and will not be purchasing anything from them again.
Doubts first arose when the box the taps are supplied in say Manufactured in Italy, we bought in to Utopia's selling point of ‘Made in the UK - Handmade British quality’. This statement is obviously quite misleading and unfortunately the quality did not match the statement. I would strongly advise researching the ‘award winning’ quality before you think of purchasing.
Charging RRP £400 for a basin tap you expect top quality. Instead we got tap levers which ‘click and clunk’ when being turned and a spout held in place with one grub screw, which means the spout swivels and has a lot of play in it. Utopia have clarified the design is not meant to swivel and when pointed out to them that it does swivel when accidentally hit while washing you face in the basin they still claim the tap works as designed and therefore is not faulty.
Charging RRP £500 for a bath tap you would also expect top quality. Instead we got faulty bath tap levers which when installed wouldn’t even turn. I can only assume Utopia have little to no quality checking process as despite asking Utopia on numerous occasions to check the taps worked before sending us out replacements, we were still left with no working bath taps 3 replacements later and 5 months down the line. We should point out we first reported the issues in May 2020, during lockdown, and were sympathetic to time scales taking longer and on site staff issues but Utopia were reporting they were ‘fully operational’ and lockdown cannot be used as an excuse for 3 sets of poor quality products being sent.
We ordered Utopia’s ‘Flagship’ Roseberry range which looks fantastic as long as you never plan to touch, open or use the furniture. We ordered a painted toilet seat and can’t even bring ourselves to fit it as we know exactly the state it will look in after one opening and closing. The painted finish comes off at the slightest contact and we share similar views to another reviewer that this bathroom will not last more than a few months normal everyday usage. Utopia replied and said they supply a small tin of touch up paint for such eventualities. We didn’t pay a premium RRP to be painting our own furniture every few months.
Aside from the poor quality we received we also received very poor Customer service. Obviously as we had to contact Utopia through our bathroom retailer there was a middleman involved in the conversations which can take longer to resolve an issue. But Utopia wouldn’t even reply to their emails within a reasonable time frame. Weeks went by before we heard anything back from queries. When utopia did give us a date for replacements to be sent out, that date came and went with not even a courtesy update from Utopia to say there was a delay. It was up to us to ask the bathroom retailer to contact them and ask why we hadn’t received anything. And the answer was always ‘it will be another 4 weeks until we have that item.’ And again after 5 weeks we were back chasing them for an update.
Utopia did refund us £143 as a gesture of their goodwill which just feels like a kick in the teeth after 6 months of having no working bathroom and feeling like we were constantly having to point out the faults in their products and chase for an answer. And we are still feeling out of pocket with not having received the top quality bathroom finish we paid for.
Definitely not a satisfied customer.

I bought Utopia bathroom fitted units and matching worktop in 2010, they were recommended to me by a very high end bathroom fitter. Any edges to the furniture or worktop (where the veneer meets) are not waterproof (its chipboard covered with laminate, like a kitchen). Where water hits the edge, it started to swell slightly within a few months of installation. To be honest I was expecting to see something like that, because of the materials and construction, so was on the lookout. I ran a tiny bit of PVC glue over the edges (can't remember exactly), which stopped the swelling. Could probably have done it before the damage happened in the first place. Anywhere water splashed onto the units I protected it (slightly angled shower screen, artfully placed towel on the countertop edge). I also ventilated my bathroom well. When I sold my flat ten years later, they still looked brand new for the most part. There was no bubbling or peeling of the coatings on the units at all. I'll buy these units again, but will invest in a solid worktop like marble or quartz from a different supplier - bespoke look, similar price, no chance of the worktop edges becoming water damaged where they get splashed.
Utopia painted timber bathroom products are utterly useless, will not last more than a couple of months in a bathroom, no matter what you do. Don't bother with these products, you will end up paying a lot of money for very poor quality.

Initially unhappy with the customer service I received, I am pleased that Utopia took the initiative to contact me and in the end my concerns were satisfactorily resolved.

I have had a very disappointing experience with this company.
I bought an 'Encurva' curved basin unit and matching mirror in August 2014 for around 1000 pounds. I was very happy with it at first, as I thought I had bought a quality product. But I was mistaken... within a few months the mirror started de-silvering around the edges.
The problem has got worse as time has gone on, so I finally tried to do something about it, albeit slightly out of the 5 year warranty period.
I contacted the company but they were totally unhelpful. They refused to accept any sort of responsibility for the deterioration of the mirror and advised me to buy a new bathroom suite from them!
The mirror is not fit for purpose, given the price it cost it should be able to last a number of years, I shouldn't be having to replace it already.
The company has provided very poor customer service, especially when you take into consideration how expensive the suite was and how little time it has lasted.
I will not be using this company again in any future renovation projects and I would strongly advise others against using this company.
Absolutely awful, bought a v expensive sink unit for a bathroom, one side panel warped within days ( less than a week) of being put in, was eventually replaced, same thing happened again, and I have been told that the unit cannot withstand getting wet or too much steam, and that there will be no further replacement of panels, that it is my fault. No water / steam in a bathroom? Seriously? This is not cheap furniture, would not recommend to anyone.

Bought a Utopia bathroom suite about 3 years ago, actually pretty happy with everything, Matese BTW Pan & Lid + Inset Basin and 2x matching 60cm wide units. Recently the soft close lid dampers failed so I inquired via the retailer for price of replacements, Utopia said £80+VAT. So I asked about an entire replacement seat set, quoted £65+VAT. Decided to look online for replacement cartridges and the Duravit Darling 1004270000 Toilet Seat Damper Set is a direct replacement - £30 including VAT! How does that work Utopia? Thankyou to choicereplacementtoiletseatshop for supplying.
We bought a bathroom set of furniture as well as sanitary ware which was very expensive. The toilet had to be replaced but the replacement still has like a rough area that is just stained permanently brown now! The coating on the furniture is peeling away. This is so disappointing as we spent over £10,000. I wish we had saved money and gone elsewhere.

Bought my new bathroom furniture and toilet from Utopia just over a month ago. Am really pleased with both the look of the products and the quality (from Downton range). Although the furniture is intended for a bathroom I would not be surprised if it is left wet over a long period of time that it will warp as it is made of the same kind of materials that kitchen units are made from. I am always careful to wipe off any water that drips down and I am sure I won't have any problems in that regard. I have had no reason to contact Utopia so can't comment on their customer service.

Absolutely atrocious. We spent a small fortune on a beautiful looking bathroom suite, and had it professionally installed.
within 18 months the worktop started to swell and separate along the so called waterproof seam, and when i have explained to Utopia via Buildbase, they have responded that its water/steam damage???? In a bathroom for gods sake? Its supposed to be a waterproof worktop.
Buildbase are being brilliant, but are just getting push-back, they even provided my contact details for the Customer Service Manager who, after numerous attempts to contact, either is unavailable or on Holiday. They refuse to take responsibility for their poor workmanship and only blame the customer.
AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

Hi we are currently on our third set of soft close hinges on our Roseberry toilet in under twelve months, you state there is a life long guarantee with your products how long is life may I ask ? as both ourselves and the company that fitted the suite are getting miffed over this constant failure, I have tried to speak to you by telephone and Email re this matter but each time got rebuffed with the answer I have to go through the supplier who is also somewhat peeved at having to replace these apparently sub standard hinges
My (expensive) bathroom cabinet is approx. 8 years old. The overhead halogen lights have failed and I am told by various Utopia agents that there is no direct replacement as Utopia have moved onto LED units and there us no equivalent!
Just fitted a very expensive sliding mirror cabinet. After an hour of trying the two installers simply could not get one of the mirror guide catches to engage. I phoned the help line for Utopia, who said they were unable to give any technical advice!?? Told me to speak to the retailer from whom I purchased. What will they do? I asked. They can speak to us they replied. But I'm speaking to you now with the catch in my hand, and I just need to know if there is any hint or tip to get it in. Very very poor customer service.
I'm sorry Utopia, but despite your response, actually because of it, my view of your customer service has deteriorated. Of course we are aware of the fitting instructions, both written and online versions. However if you were to actually check the instructions yourselves, and looked at the pages mentioned, you would see that the instructions are only how to remove the guide cover, which we cannot engage in the first place!

Within a few months of installation, cracks started appearing in the drawer beneath the sink. We are having a replacement installed but I have no confidence the same won't happen again on the new unit. It appears to be water damage- on a bathroom unit! The paint work is bubbling up and cracking. My feeling is the product is high in price but extremely low in quality. Really wish I had not purchased Utopia.
Bad experience 26 June 2018. Spoke with Paul in Customer Care; customer care really?
Dampener for a soft close toilet seat failed within the 2 year warranty period. I was informed that a replacement part was £65 and a complete toilet seat was £75. The part was manufactured in April 2016 and Paul said it was outside warranty. It was but it failed 4 months ago.
A really bad experience and I will never buy Utopia products ever again.
I see their response and they are clearly passing the responsibility to the retailer when it is their product that failed either through poor design or poor manufacture. They had previously spoken to the retailer and refused to do anything which is why I called them directly. Utopia clearly don't understand the meaning of customer service; be warned if you are considering their products.

bad, worktop I received different to sample (gloss like granite), worktop I received matt more like a resin. instructions on website poor missing panels either side of sink unit, cased doors to hit units either side. Utophia or leekes refused to take responsibility, blaming my fitter even though it was designed and supplied without fillers. told to go back to supplier, very rude and raised with furniture ombudsman, waste of time. Now with an unfinished bathroom after spending £3.5k
This company claims to sell a quality product and have a comprehensive guarantee but my experience tells me different. I spent £1400 on one of their Symmetry units with twin basins mounted under the ice worktop. When the item arrived I unpacked it and found that you could clearly see the rims of both basins through the worktop. I asked my plumber for his opinion and he immediately said that it is not right. I phoned Utopia directly and got a very rude and abrupt response pointing me to my retailer who immediately came to have a look and also agreed it wasn't right. My retailer contacted Utopia who said that they had never heard of this problem but eventually agreed to make another one and 3 weeks later this was delivered. When the packaging was opened it was exactly the same. They are now saying tough and as far as they are concerned it is good enough! I am now going legal with them.
