Just had my call with Giorgio, a pleasant surprise to what I wrongly thought would be an inexperienced agent following a corporate script, quite the contrary.
Giorgio was knowledgeable, professional and spoke with a friendly tone.
These are exactly the kind of people you want to deal with when contacting your pension provider.

As a provider of low cost diversified funds I am a Vanguard fan - without doubt. And the bulk of my dealings with them have been good. But here's an irritation: recently I had to make numerous calls to Vanguard UK over a pension transfer that was not smooth, and I became irritated by their policy of addressing all their customers by their first name. As I pointed out, we're not mates: I give them my assets, they sell me their expertise. Its a business relationship. Routinely imposing first-name familiarity on every customer and in every context is poor practice. My conventional bank uses Mr, as does another investment platform I deal with. A simple solution is to assume a degree of formality, and ask what the customer prefers.

Had a Pension Withdrawal Appointment with Neena who explained how the Vanguard pension withdrawal process worked, we then proceeded to go through all the relevant sections of the pension illustration.
Neena was very professional and pleasant throughout the conversation which took less than 30 minutes.
My pension drawdown should be starting soon.
