Bullies and Mean Spirited Admin

What I found in my experience with VarageSale was a group of sad women who were the so-called ‘admin’ pushing their mean girl agenda. They were nothing more than bullies that were drunk with what little power they were given. Like other reviewers I also found in the few years I was on there that they definitely targeted and bullied me, until for no reason they denied me access altogether. I do not want to be a part of the VarageSale community, which sadly like so many groups, is dominated by mean-spirited angry individuals who can only find joy in their sad attempts to inflict their multitude of miseries upon others.

Forced fake account

I suddenly have an “account” with this bunch of yahoos? I never signed up for any account with them. Nor does anyone else have access to my email.
Either they are a total scam, trying to just get people to give personal info, as they attempt to delete a non existing account , or they allow scammers and bots on the site to make accounts.
Unreal.

Useless

Wanted to buy an Eaton's crate from a seller in Toronto and after I logged in, the site refused me to contact the seller.

This site is EVIL and not friendly.

I will NEVER go on it again.

Varagesale discriminates and harrasses users.

Varagesale discriminates against some users. Administrator LeeAnn Mathews strictly enforces rules on a few people but not others. When I pointed out to her 9000 people are allowed to write their ads the way I did (and got suspended for) she blocked me from her community. I complained to varagesale and owner company verticalscope.com and they did absolutely nothing. They continued to allow the harassment by LeeAnn.

You are lucky if you only get robbed or scammed! Completely unsafe

This is site is completely unsafe. You are lucky if you only get scammed or robbed. Many users try to get you alone on their ground. I had a public meet up scheduled and that day the person tried to get me to go to where they were because they didn’t want to try stuff on in a parking lot. I turned them down because it gave me a very bad feeling and said no we can stick to our original agreed upon meet spot and time and then they cancelled all together. Another person just asked where I live without even expressing interest in buying an item.

SCAMMER From October 17, 2023 still at it...

I just received a message from someone who followed a script similar to this one from October 17, 2023. Except it started
"I would like to buy the item and I won't be able to come for the pickup. due to my current job been out of town. And I am willing to pay you an extra Fifty dollars to hold It for me. I can only make a payment Via cashier check from my bank because that's the only convenient means for me due to my current job and am getting married soon and also in the middle of moving out with my fiancé and two kids..." Everything else sounds exactly the same.

I'm done!

No consequences for bad sellers

Varagesale has no consistent and universal policy on seller listings. There is no recourse if you express interest in an item and despite being the first in line, the seller can sell it to anyone else that came after you. At least enforce a 12 or 24 hour policy to hear back from a prospective buyer, and if they break this policy, they should either be suspended, warned or at least be given negative feedback to warn others.

Admins on power trips

Admins on power trips. They don’t use common sense and don’t abide by THEIR OWN RULES. They make up new rules when it suits them. And if you disagree, they delete your account.

Zero people

Biggest issue with varagesale... no people. Bump your listings all you want.. there is nobody here.. not even bots. I'm selling things that sell on other sites, much like offerup/letgo.. varage sale has no people. It has such great potential, I like the layout and how easy it is to list.. but I crave the days of bots, lol. There is literally nobody. Maybe it's my area.. but it's not exactly small. I dont know.. giving it another week or so, and im uninstalling it.

No common sense

VarageSale prides itself on being safe. If that were the case, then why can’t we leave a negative review for users? Only praises permitted. Defeats the purpose of staying safe no?

Apparently these admins don’t get paid. What makes someone worthy of being an admin? Most admins I’ve spoken with are on a power trip and don’t use common sense.

Also, fake/counterfeit items like handbags are not allowed to be posted. I’ve been seeing so many of them. Especially YSL and LV. Yet, an admin removed my one ad for an MK purse I bought 15 years ago that I was selling super cheap. I asked why, and she said it’s because it got flagged as fake. “Instead of removing it, why didn’t you ask me if I had my receipt” (which surprisingly I did). Again, these admins are ridiculous. No common sense.

As for the location issue… I live in one community, but work in another community. I can meet/sell/buy items in both those communities. Why are admins not accepting me in both those communities. I practically live at work, so what’s the problem? I’d also like to join a third community, that is literally right over the bridge from my house (5 minute drive). But because I don’t actually live there I can’t sell there? I do all my shopping there (Walmart, winners, gas) but yet I can’t buy/sell in that community. Again, no common sense.

It’s one of the worst apps out there!

It’s one of the worst apps out there!! I’ve been hounded to post a picture of myself and complained about doing so. During that time I uploaded a photo and after that the admin basically said you have to add a photo or would you like to leave the group. There’s a photo there….hello!! :). Why waste the time writing out orders when it’s already been complied with. There has to be a better way.

Showed up to pick up an item. The person uses a mailbox with a small whole so I put my money in and then open up the box and my product is not there. I message the person to ask for my $ back since they didn’t leave the product and she tells me I stole the product from her. I complain to the admin and ask for my $ back and the admin says that is someone she knows and there must be communication issues. I explain I just want my $ back and it’s not right to treat someone like that. The admin says she can’t help. So…it’s ok for her friends to steal from people???

I am trying to give this site a chance

I am trying to give this site a chance. Admins are not very communicative or understanding. I would say they have become so paranoid that is has turn their filter of people into nothing but negative. I have 2 admins that are grilling me. One Just about my REAL NAME. I can't help if other people have my real name that live in the same city. Another is grilling me about having a facebook account saying "it's part of our rules". I read their rules and send them to her and it is not disclosed as saying anything what so ever about that. I was going to ask is there another way. (most younger generations don't use facebook). Instead she just blocks me. These ladies are power drunk over thrifting
