I’ll preface this review by saying that up until recent events all my transactions with V&P have been positive and pleasurable. How quickly things change, and our perceptions of people alter.
I’d recently purchased a lovely Daytona from Andrew at V&P and having purchased a few other watches from him over the year thought it would be nice to pop in and see him at his stand at Ascot Racecourse. I genuinely had no intention of buying or selling anything and just intended shooting the breeze. I spent a good hour and a half with Andrew, just generally chatting about the watches he had on display and other common interests. He kept showing me watches and I kept telling him that I was not in the market. Long story short I somehow ended up part exchanging my recently purchased Submariner (not from V&P) for an Omega plus £6.5k. A transaction I’d not planned but to which there is no doubt I was a willing, if slightly bamboozled and naïve, participant to. Andrew can be quite a subtly persuasive salesman when he sets his mind to it. Suffice to say by the time I got home with my purchase I totally regretted the whole deal and emailed Andrew to see if he’d accept a reversal. I did not have a mobilenumber for him at the time.
He kindly contacted me back to say that he’d be more than happy to accept the return of the Omega if I wasn’t happy with it. All fine and good to this point and certainly in keeping with the great relationship we’d developed over the last year. The problem arose when Andrew told me he wouldn’t be returning the Submariner to me as V&P had already received an expression of interest from another buyer that had been contacted by one of his team, who incidentally was not at the show but was beavering away in the background. Had that not been the case, and given that no money had been transacted to that point, he would gladly have returned the watch to me. Clearly there was no way for me to challenge this claim other than the fact that it was 7pm on a Friday and less than 3 hours had elapsed between the transaction and our conversation. I did however find it disappointing that he would not consider stepping in to ensure the whole transaction was reversed.
The following day I again visited Ascot racecourse to return the Omega which was accepted without question. A fact for which I am very grateful. I had hoped that Andrew would have valued my custom enough to have reconsidered his stance from the previous evening given that: 1. He could not possibly have had time to fully examine, verify and conduct the normal due diligence on the watch before offering it for sale. 2. The “proposed buyer” would not have seen the watch and may well have rejected it and 3. At the time of our previous evening’s conversation the “proposed buyer” had not paid anything towards the watch but merely expressed an interest. Regrettably that was not the case, and I was informed that a deposit had been paid on the Saturday morning and I wouldn’t be getting the watch back. Whether it can be believed that this story was at all credible is neither here nor there. It is the mere fact that I was there with Andrew and the watch and it was totally within his control to decide which one of us, the “proposed buyer” who he’d not met or conversed with, or me, would be left disappointed. Regrettably he chose me, which speaks volumes as to how much my custom was in fact valued. I was, and still am, incredibly disappointed.
Having had time to reflect it would be incorrect for me to leave negative feedback. Given the circumstances neutral is fair, after all it was my choice to make, and I did change my mind. However I saw the side to Andrew that is not normally customer facing and it’s quite ruthless. Ultimately, I should know that self-interest will always trump loyalty and friendship in business. It’s not so much a lesson learnt, but a lesson I’ve been reacquainted with. When you’re retired you tend to forget these things.
Finally, I wonder what might happen if my watch suddenly appears for sale on the V&P website. Would he return it to me if I asked? Who knows? Look out for it, it’s a beautiful 2010 Bi Metal Submariner Date Ref: 116613LN.

Approached this company for a part exchange deal on a high value watch. Andrew and the team were fantastic from start to finish - gave me a great offer on my watch, a good deal on the watch I wanted, a very quick and professional transaction with good comms throughout and many examples of going the extra mile. Would highly recommend.

As someone who has been fascinated with watches for as long as I can remember, I cannot recommend Vintage&Prestige highly enough.
If you are looking for a trustworthy, incredibly knowledgeable and passionate company to deal with, look no further. In a time where it is rare to find customer service and quality of service that makes you feel like you are the priority, that is exactly what I felt like during my experience with them.
From the first email communications, the phone calls and face-to-face meetings, everything was done efficiently, promptly, and expertly. They made being a customer a pleasant experience! As it should be in this marketplace. And the difference between their approach and some of the approaches used by other companies in this market were clear from the outset.
I will certainly be recommending them to friends and will be back to use them again in the future. Without hesitation.
