3 or4 times I was called and told that…

3 or4 times I was called and told that there would be a delay in my shipments.
{there were 2 shipments}. Each time I was told that "the machines " were "down". You must have pretty shoddy machines for them to break down twice over the course of several weeks! I wasn't convinced that I was being told the true reason for the delay in shipment. That's sad, isn't it?
On the plus side, at least I did get phone calls informing me of the problem each time, but it turned out that I didn't just have 2 delays {for the 2 orders}, but 3 or 4. That is not satisfactory.
I was, however, satisfied with the quality of the product when I finally did receive it.

Thanks for giving us this opportunity to address your concern.

First, we agree with you. Receiving 3 or 4 calls, even when it was on two different orders placed at different times, is not satisfactory!

Here's the situation:
We have many machines, all of which we maintain in good condition. The machine we needed to complete both of your orders is extremely reliable. However, it is also extremely expensive so we can't just keep a spare for this machine in reserve.

During the period in question this machine experienced a longer "down time" than it ever had before, as it was necessary to order special parts from out of state for the repair and then wait for a highly trained specialist to actually make the repair.

As is our procedure, we called about your first order when we missed our initial shipping promise date. At that time we provided our best estimate for a new shipping date, based on what we were being told by the repair company.

Later, when it became obvious we were missing our revised promise date on that order, we called you again. Thus, we called you twice on that order.

Due to the issue with this machine, and the production backlog that lingered after the machine was repaired, we also missed our initial promise date on your second order. We called you with a revised date on that order. Therefore, per our written records, you received a total of 3 calls from us alerting you that your orders would be late.

We sincerely regret having to make those calls. In fact, during the time in question we used a much less efficient production method on products that would otherwise have been produced on the broken machine. Otherwise, these orders, including yours, would have run even later.

We absorbed the considerable extra production expense because we care greatly about our shipping promise dates and hate it when we miss one (or more than one in your case.)

It is unfortunate that our Customer Reps apparently referred colloquially to "the machines" being down, when in fact, they should have said one very important machine was down.

We are heartened that you were at least satisfied with the quality of the products you received. Hope we can be perfect with our shipping promise date next time!

Beautiful Crown Mouldings

I have edited this review 2 times now. First was a 5 star, because I do love Vintage Woodwork and their stuff. But then my order arrived 3 days late, causing me to have to pay for contractors to just sit around for 3 days. But my crown mouldings are now installed, and I have to say, they look beautiful. So once again, bravo - good work Vintage Woodworks. Next time, please inform your customers if the items are arriving late.

Check the order quantities.

You can do a fast check on the order and ask the costumer when you see some inconsistencies. We have to pay extra on shipment and time for one missing item. That support could result in a better recognizing and appreciation from your costumers. Your product is excellent. Thank you. I wonder if I can send a picture of my new porch.

Yes, it's true some orders require extra shipping. Estimated shipping on our website works well for most orders but we are certainly aware it is not perfect. We have such a large selection of very different items (plus offering custom lengths in many items) that it's impossible to achieve a more accurate shipping estimate for some items without human review after the order is placed.

Of course, if additional shipping fees are required (only to cover what we are actually charged by the carrier), we do not consider it to be a firm order until the customer has ok'd the extra charges.

Hopefully you noted when ordering the multiple places we mention online that additional shipping fees may be required. The bottom line is that we would greatly prefer not to have to contact our customers asking for additional shipping, but if we don't cover our actual cost to ship we would have to increase the price of our products, as there is simply not enough profit margin in our products to subsidize shipping costs and still stay in business. The best solution we can offer at this time is the system we have in place. Thanks for understanding!

Great Product. Definitely would recommend.

I purchased tongue and groove wood for an entryway ceiling. It came out fantastic and looks awesome! Wood was well packaged and contained no damage.

Very happy with their products

Very happy with their products. Excellent quality and very consistent. Wish the lead times were better but I understand the labor involved in creating these quality products. Will be making more purchases in the near future.

I’m so happy Vintage Wood Works still…

I’m so happy Vintage Wood Works still had the Gable piece I needed to replace the one I bought from them years ago. It’s like the crowning touch on our Victorian house. Fast and easy to order and it was delivered as promised and in perfect condition. I highly recommend Vintage Wood Works!
