Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Considering 164 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Customers frequently express frustration with the poor communication channels, noting that it is nearly impossible to speak with a real person or get a timely response to complaints. Furthermore, many consumers deal with persistent billing issues, such as unexpected debit orders, extra charges, and accounts incorrectly treated as being in arrears despite full payments. Some people were satisfied with specific branch staff members who delivered polite, patient, and highly efficient assistance when resolving queries in person. Reviewers also occasionally praised effective technical support teams and customized plans that met their communication needs.

VODACOM ILLEGAL CHARGES

Yes actually you can please let me know why vodacom billed my son Christopher Garcia R1500 for data after his contract ended and didn't advise him and then he gets blacklisted. We lost a flat due to Vodacoms illegal charges. Your legal department is useless. I'm canceling my number with vodacom and putting this all over social media.

Impossible to stop recurring payment on E sim

Vodacom is sly ,devious ,underhand and I would say avoid at all costs .
Created a recurring Power plan without my knowledge on my phone . On an E travel sim - With added funeral cover at an extra cost of R 59 per month .
I am a tourist and do not live in SA . Why would I sign up for a funeral cover in a foreign country- unless of course they know something I don’t know! They make it impossible to cancel this un asked for recurring cost- and I am now in the process of taking matters further with the ombudsman ICASA .
I would say, avoid go anywhere else.

I paid my contract to the last day and…

I paid my contract to the last day and when I called vodacom to put in a cancellation, the lady put it for an upgrade and now they are charging me for that upgrade, this affected my credit record badly. When I call them, the number does not exist on contract list because when I spoke to Thapelo who was very helpful, he did what I actually asked. Now I am due to pay lots of money because this vidacom lady decided to put my contract on upgrade since I rejected the offer she gave me. So easy to take a contract but its a hassle to close it. They are at a point of blacklisting me and yet they are at fault.

Vodacom network is bad in fact you…

Vodacom network is bad in fact you cannot make a call or use Google since Sunday until today in Dundee and it was a same thing two weeks ago. I did try to repost it and they told me that someone will call me and they were using my Telkom to contact me and the person will talk for a while and tell me he will call again and soon as he drop off I will receive a message to say I was not reachable. Dundee is a town and we can go days without a network, imagine people from the village and their experience with Vodacom. They are expensive, arrogant yet their service is worse than poor.

Vodacom South Africa are THIEVES!!!!!

Vodacom South Africa are a bunch of thieves. I had a contract and requested cancellation. They sent me the forms and settlement figure which was R400 less than the full contract. I wasn't happy but accepted it, paid the money, filled in the forms and sent it to them. Then they handed me over to lawyers for the remaining R400. I sent these lawyers all the paperwork but kept on getting demand letters. Next thing I know Vodacom put a debit order with my bank and just took the money out of my account and now I had to pay lawyer fees. THIEVES!!!! How my bank allowed that is a different story.

Please avoid Vodacom at all costs

Please avoid Vodacom at all costs , fiber and cellular , the staff are happy and helpful to sign you up to a contract, howere once its a signed deal they stop giving a a damn and from that point they really couldn't care at all.

The call centre's are staffed by useless , incompetent people, the automatic AI system is hopeless , customer care emails are automatically replied to with a donotreply response and no further contact is offered.

SR numbers are given and they mean nothing, when you try and follow up a new one is created and the the previous one closed, staff make promises over the recorded calls , when the promises aren't fulfilled and copies of the calls are requested, you get told that a court needs to order the recordings.

Save yourself tons of hassles and AVOID Vodacom for the love of your sanity.

Vodacom is the worst ISP

I paid for Fibre service in December 2025, January 2026 and February 2026, and I had no service and no use of my Fibre line. I contacted as far as the CEO and no one attempted to fix my line or contacted me back. Vodacom fibre is the worst I ever had I am absolutely disgruntled and very disappointed because I paid for absolutely nothing. Sorry but Vodacom became a ******* network. I do not recommend!

Frustrated and annoyed

I am writing to express my profound dissatisfaction with the service I have received from Vodacom.

My contract concluded in September 2025. I was not informed that it would subsequently transition to a month-to-month arrangement. Following this, I received a bill for R1207, which was settled on the 26th of this month. Prior to this, I visited Vodacom stores to request a cancellation but did not receive assistance. Today, from 2:30 PM until 5:00 PM, I was engaged in calls attempting to cancel the contract, during which the representatives primarily focused on upselling or upgrading services. Subsequently, I explicitly stated my desire to cancel the contract. The representative then directed me to another department. Upon contacting that department, I was informed that the previous representative had initiated an upgrade request, thereby preventing the processing of my cancellation.

I am extremely dissatisfied and frustrated by this situation. As I have recently been retrenched, I am unable to incur any further expenses with Vodacom. Therefore, I urgently request assistance with the cancellation of this contract. Furthermore, I require clarification regarding the individual who authorized an order that I did not request. I expect this matter to be resolved with immediate priority.

Replacement service

I'm very happy to report that I received very good service today at the Garden Route Mall Vodacom branch.

A product I recently purchased wasn't working as intended and without hesitation or kickback, they replaced it for me.

Complaint

Complaint: Vodacom Exploiting Elderly Customers

I am outraged by Vodacom’s unethical call centre practices that deliberately target vulnerable elderly people. My mother, who struggles with cognitive issues, has been pressured into taking out more than five contracts she does not need, understand, or use. This is exploitation, pure and simple.

I have repeatedly contacted Vodacom, asking them to remove her from their calling list and to flag her account so she is protected from further predatory sales. Despite these requests, Vodacom continues to call her. I have also written to Vodacom directly, but they have ignored my appeals.

This is not just poor service — it is exploitation of the elderly for profit. Vodacom is failing in its duty of care to protect vulnerable customers, and instead is taking advantage of them.

I demand immediate action:
- Cancel all unnecessary contracts signed under these circumstances.
- Flag her account permanently to stop further calls.
- Provide a formal response acknowledging this issue and outlining steps Vodacom will take to protect elderly customers from predatory sales tactics.

Vodacom’s silence and inaction are unacceptable. Elderly people deserve protection, dignity, and respect — not to be treated as easy targets for profit.

vodacom fiber DISASTER!

We ordered fiber from vodacom on 2 February 2026. The router was delivered to us within a couple of days and we were contacted by openserve on 4 February and they requested that we supplied them with the proof of address where we wanted the installation done. They send an email on the same day and we replied with the lease agreement and relative paperwork they requested. After this, the long wait started and there were no further communication from either one of them. During this time we've called vodacom on four different occasions and send emails only to be told that we had to wait patiently for 7 to 14 working days. Today 23 February 2026 I called them again since the time they had to install it had passed, only to learn that our order for the installation was only submitted TODAY and that there was an additional problem since there wasnt actually any service by openserve in the area that we requested. I dont want to give the exact address here but will say that it's between 1180 to 1220 Ben Swart St, Moregloed, Pretoria. Now first of all I cant believe that there is no service in Ben Swart st Pretoria, secondly, and apparently, openserve cannot detect this address on their maps, which must be a lie since this is a old street in Pretoria and houses has been there for decades. Dont know what kind of useless map system their using! I was on the line with vodacom for 1 hour and 3 minutes this morning only to be told that it is not their fault that there is no service in that area and that we will have to wait and additional 6 to 8 weeks for them to install service there! But if you go on to vodacom's fiber website and enter the exact address there it shows that there is service! Obviously after freaking out we were eventually promised that the the lady who did the original sale order would contact us and that they would arrange a sim card that we can use in the mean time but would cost us R150 more per month and would only be 10 mbps! This call NEVER came and I had to call again just now, freak out again, explain the whole situation AGAIN, and now finally we got an email stating the service request for the sim card has been activated. Also on this email it states "priority level 4-LOW" The agent who helped us was quite rude and unfortunately I freaked out again after learning the the delivery of the sim card could again take anywhere from 3 to 7 WORKING DAYS! Also when this nonsense with the fiber has been sorted out, it is our responsibility to call them to cancel the interim sim card! As things are currently looking it would most probably end up where the fiber would be installed just after the end of the month, meaning that we would have to pay double, for the interim sim card and the fiber for that specific month! I'm VERY VERY VERY unhappy with the POOR service from vodacom and would not recommend them to anyone since customer service is non existent and they make you feel that it is your fault that you ordered something from them that they cant deliver! UNACCEPTABLE!!!!!

Rude behaviour from tech guy at Vodacom Menlyn Park

I am writing to express my shock and disappointment regarding the service I received at the Vodacom branch at Menlyn Park on the 21st of February 2026. After previously receiving excellent assistance at Incredible Connection in the same mall, I visited Vodacom for help with connecting my smartwatch. Unfortunately, my experience at your store was extremely unpleasant.

After being assisted by a consultant, I was directed to the technical section. Upon arrival, the technician present simply walked away and began disconnecting phones without saying a word to us. I already sensed that he had no intention of assisting when he told his colleague, referring to me, that “she shouldn’t do that to him, no, no, no — no way.”

We then waited at the technical desk while he continued looking at us without offering any assistance. When I eventually approached him to ask whether he would help us, he responded rudely that he had already knocked off (He was still at the store). When I asked why he had not communicated this to us earlier, he dismissively asked what I thought when he walked away.

I left the store feeling shocked by the unprofessional and disrespectful treatment. I have since noticed that this branch has received consistently low customer ratings, which suggests that this may be an ongoing issue that has not been addressed.

This experience falls far below the standard of service expected from Vodacom.
