Horrible Company don't invest

I am so frustrated with VOYA. I requested my money on 11/10 and they zeroed out my account in three days. The money is still missing and they are telling me will take 12 business days to get a new check. Unacceptable. The total time is over one month.

Stuck in RMD hell

Stuck in RMD hell every year. It is not the $ but the process to withdraw 457. Every year it takes weeks to complete. Contrast with Fidelity, Raymond James, Schwab. Under a minute each. Voya endlessly repeat requests, name, # etc even if voice recognition IDs me. Then I have to speak with rep to get RMD " request" ( today I have been thru 4 reps, it is still not downloading). Yes you can hit the online request box but it does zilch. Then you print or fax the form after signing to administrator who sends it to voya. Seems simple ? It is not . 142 minutes and counting today, about par over the years excluding dead tree USPS wait time. These folks have one foot in 1900's and one on 2000's . Over the past 5 years the longest portion of my tax calcs is always voya. Website is a mishmash of voya ads and disconnected menus. Awful, non intuitive. Worst I have ever seen.
VOYA program this : " REQUEST RMD" (send me form to esign) ----Transmit to Administrator on file for e sign--- generate payment and receipt.---- transmit to Feds. Done

Every step of the way there is some form of an issue dealing with this company.
They are always trying to sell you something before they try to help you.
Every communication takes 2-4 weeks to get any form of an answer

is there a zero rating

is there a zero rating ? 1 star is far too much. my 401k is administrated by Voya Financial. I opted for a self managed brokerage account offered thru Voya with Charles Schwab . The problem is Voya and Charles Schwab operate independently .....and they do not communicate. Charles Schwab has been a breeze to manage ....but Voya does not have immediate access to your self brokerage at Schwab. It's a nightmare if you need to withdraw funds ....I have had to get Schwab rep on three way with Voya just to prove liquidity of my funds.
Over a month ago Voya sent $ 17,000 to my Schwab account that wasn't mine. Schwab and I reported it. I should have just kept the money.
A completely disastrous experience. Customer service is clueless.

A freaking JOKE

A freaking JOKE! My son got into an accident on a school bus so he immediately started going to a chiropractor. My claim was denied because they don’t cover chiropractic visits, which is a complete joke to me because usually when you get into an accident, that’s the first place you have to go. I’m so glad it’s open season at my job because I will not be getting Voya going forward. A complete JOKE!!

Voya is the most frustrating company…

Voya is the most frustrating company that I have had to deal with. Voya do everything in their power to avoid resolving your accident claim. If I was to enroll into insurance per my job again & VOYA is the insurance provider I would decline!!!!!I would rather choose coverage with an outside provider even if it cost more. After sustaining an injury. I thought VOYA would be sensitive to life change events. Speaking with VOYA customer services reps & supervisors is stressful, anxiety, and very upsetting. VOYA will give you a run for your money. 2 different supervisors provided 2 different answers to address my needs. Customer service reps the same!!!!! Out right ridiculous. Please ask your employer before you enroll if VOYA is the provider decline IMMEDITALLY or you will be going in circles chasing your own tail. I cannot even stand to hear this companies name. It's like using some type of off brand insurance. Requested for the claims examiner to reach out to me as of Monday Oct 21st. I have called them every day this week & customer service rep advised me the claim examiner closed out the call back task. Now that reset the 24-48 hrs that I initially put in the request. I am so drained by speaking with VOYA never ever again!!!!! My nephew just had me to help him with enrolling into insurance with his job VOYA was one the insurance carriers!! YES he declined. But he enrolled into 401k dental, medical (which is not voya) and dental. I WILL BE SURE NO FAMILY OR FRIENDS provide one red cent to this company.

If I could rate a zero I would

If I could rate a zero I would. We have Voya Critical Illness Insurance. I had a heart attack on August 20, 2025. We filed a claim. First Voya tried to say the claim we files wasn't for a heart attack. We had all of the papers to and from Voya and the physicians and hospital. After denying the claim they asked us for more proof of a heart attack. We had every kind of proof you can imagine. We sent more information from the DR's to them. After waiting over 30 days and still not getting anywhere I fled a complaint with the BBB in NYC. Two days later, my husband reciveved a phone call from Voya telling him he needed to submit even more information. We talked to three of the cardiologists including the DR who admitted me due to having a heart attack and guess what? That was five days ago AGAIN and thVOYA still hasn't made a determination. This has been going on for 6 weeks. Our agreement says it will be settled in 10 days. We have had thisminsurance for over 7 years and this is how we get treated. I guess we are going to start contacting government offices everywhere possible and file lots of complaints. Voya, you guys really suck.

Complaint – From a Longtime Policyholder

I’ve been with Voya since 2007, and up until recently, I always spoke highly of this company. I even recommended it to parents and friends, especially those with kids in sports, because I believed Voya truly cared about its customers. Unfortunately, after everything I’ve gone through these past few years, I can honestly say my trust in this company has been shaken.

Since 2017, I haven’t been properly paid for my x-ray claims — something that was clearly covered under the original plan I signed up for. I’ve provided every document, including my brochure that shows the coverage I was promised. Yet, instead of resolving the issue, I’ve been asked to jump through hoops, submit years of old paperwork, and even provide doctor’s notes from over five or six years ago. That’s unreasonable, especially when the itemized bills already list the x-rays.

Recently, I spoke with a supervisor named Ericson, who asked me to send in the top page of my brochure, as if I was trying to create fake paperwork. That made me feel disrespected and accused of fraud, when all I’ve done is stay loyal to this company and pay my premiums faithfully — the same amount I’ve been paying since 2007, even though newer plans cost much less today.

It feels like instead of helping long-term customers, Voya is trying to avoid paying legitimate claims by adding new requirements that never existed before. The fact that I’m being told to track down old hospital notes just to get what my plan already covers is not just frustrating — it’s wrong.

If this continues, I’ll no longer recommend anyone to sign up for Voya. I don’t want anyone else to go through what I’m going through right now — years of loyalty, only to be treated like they’re doing something wrong for simply asking to be paid fairly.

Horrible misinformed customer service

Horrible misinformed customer service. One person says pin numbers are the same another says that's not the case now I will be waiting 3 weeks just to access my account. Fidelity, Charles Schwab and One America are better options than Voya.

Should be No Voya--you don't go anywhere with them

Customer service is a joke. One of their reps spent 3 minutes interrogating me about "who told you that" when I quoted her company's policies. Their website it trash from 1996. Their investment advice is terrible and pollyannish. And, if you ever want to move your money to another broker, be prepared to jump through hoops -- they don't like to let go of those asset management fees.

I hope they go bankrupt in the most painful way possible.

I took out a small 800 loan from my account with Voyager, and they send it to the IRS. Why I don’t know, they said I requested 100% go to the IRS. My wife passed away last week, and that money was to help with services. They could care less, and basically said sorry, anything else we can help you with.

They have no options to help me, and and said good luck!

Accessing Funds Takes Too Long

Funds in a fully vested IRA retirement facility issues concerned too long a period of time to roll over to another institution. Forms were completed, approval was granted quickly. However, actual transfer of funds taking over 2 weeks. Dissapointing since interest rate decline in the new facility is imminent. I believe the process is, by design, intended to discourage folks from transferring funds to another institution.

Poor customer service with random rules

I have been trying to settle my wife's estate for 9 months with Voya. At first they told me I was not beneficiary so could not start the process. I notified the company she worked for, but still kept receiving notices about hoe her retirement account was doing. I dropped off a copy of my wife's death certificate and they notified Voya. A month later I receive a packet telling me I am the beneficiary and need to fill out the forms. I fill them out and receive a notice a few weeks later they cannot read my SS number or banking information. I call them and they will not correct it over the phone so they send me another packet and I start over. Received a voice message today they just wanted to verify some information since I put down 2 different SS numbers. I called back. You have to enter a SS number to get to any part of the menu. It would not accept my wife's so I used mine then it emailed me a one time code to enter so I could continue. Finally get a live person and he does not have an account with my information. So I give him my wife's SS number and he pulls up the old information about not being able to read the information. I ask if we can fix it over the phone and he says no since the line is recording. The same line that I just gave my wife's information on. I told them to not contact me about this and to deal with the company she worked for. I then called them and explained all Voya had put me through. For context this is less than $2000 and per my wife's request it was to be donated back to the company she worked

Voya is operating in the dark ages

Voya is operating in the dark ages. In order to change your address or name you have to fax...yes fax your request. Full portal access for international customers is limited. Want anything done you have to FAX your request. My recommendation is find another company and do a transfer. So so poor.

Rude, disrespectful customer care who are refusing to help me resolve my transit pass issue. I have been misinformed time and again and everybody's solution is to point fingers at each other. My employer needs to drop Voya like a bad habit

Canceled Coverage for No Reason...

I left my company a few months ago and, unfortunately, had no choice but to rely on Voya for COBRA coverage for two measly months. That was two months too long. Let me just say: Voya is an absolute nightmare. They didn’t just mess up—they repeatedly and inexplicably canceled my coverage multiple times, leaving me uninsured without warning or explanation. Every time I called for help, I was met with clueless, undertrained staff who seemed shocked that phones even rang, much less how to resolve real issues.

Their customer service is not just bad—it’s actively hostile to logic and accountability. No one could tell me why my coverage was dropped, and no one seemed to care. Now, thanks to their incompetence, I’m chasing down doctors and providers begging them to resubmit denied claims—claims that should never have been denied in the first place.

If you have even the faintest option to use anything other than Voya, take it. Run, don’t walk. Choose literally any alternative unless you enjoy chaos, confusion, and costly medical headaches.
