Worst online experience in 45 years !

Truly shocking service. I purchased a watch online only to find the seller was out of the country and couldn't post the item as stated or meet for a handover for 2 / 3 weeks. Customer service was diabolical and just took their £1500. On numerous emails they were unhelpful and rude at best.

Good afternoon Daniel,

Thank you for your feedback.

Having checked on the system I can see you won the watch from a private seller on 9th February.

As you mention, the seller was out of the country and unfortunately
unable to travel due to medical reasons to meet you in person to hand over the watch.

The seller offered for a friend in the UK to meet you in person, however this was declined as you did not feel comfortable with collecting from his friend.

The seller offered to have his friend pack the watch ready for you to arrange a courier collection, however this was declined as you did not feel comfortable having someone other than the seller package the watch.

We reached out to you and offered to have the watch bought to our office by the friend in order for you to collect from us, this was also declined.

To further assist we suggested you can use the escrow service and release the funds when in possession of the watch either from our office or from the sellers friend. This was also declined and you informed the seller you did not want to proceed with the sale.

I can only apologies if you felt the above offers of assistance were unhelpful. We pride ourselves on delivering great customer case, sorry we fell short on this occasion.

Kind regards
Client Services Team

I wouldn't choose any other company for…

I wouldn't choose any other company for selling my watches. My dedicated contact Ollie was excellent and always on hand to answer any questions. He was professional but also approachable and friendly. Unfortunately the first winning bidder was a time-waster but Ollie got my watch relisted within a couple of days and sold in a week. The time-waster has been banned from the site and lost his fee paid to the company. This wasn't watchcollecting's fault obviously but it was all sorted very quickly which shows the company's quality of service. I chose the managed service for a small fee which takes all the worry out of the after sales process as watchcollecting.com deal with sending the watch to the buyer (or collection) and insurance. Highly recommended.

I sold my watch recently through…

I sold my watch recently through auction, it was a wonderful experience during the bidding moment, as a private collector i am impressed with the process, the payment was done promptly by the buyer who won the auction bid, Hugo was on top of it throughout.

Very good trusty experience

I was very skeptical when I was first buying the watch with how it all works as you had to pay the buyer before even receiving the watch but mark who worked at watch collecting helped with this massively by giving me all the reassurance I needed and this made the process so easy and smooth as I met the buyer picked the watch up and everything was as it said on the website couldn’t be more thankful of mark

WORST SERVICE IVE RECEIVED! SCAMMERS

WORST SERVICE IVE RECEIVED!!

IM A WATCH DEALER!!!!

I put my watch through watch collecting they promised me the earth and returned me absolutely nothing.

I had paid for the managed service which was £250 pounds.

A buyer bought the watch on a buy it now sale. Who ended up pulling out of the deal. However watch collecting still received the buyers premium (minimum £600). And told me they couldn’t go ahead with the sale. As far as I’m concerned they had made their money and weren’t bothered about making their client happy which was me. Which they tried to lie about and said they ‘could’ have to return it if the buyer insists.

They had promised me a quick turnaround when they had held my watch for a total of 4 weeks. Leaving me to have to make a massive loss on the watch as the market changed which I informed was a possibility previously.
I’ve lost £2500 pounds because of this.

On top of this my watch didn’t sell but is listed as sold on their website to make them look like they’re busy. Set of scammers!

I dealt with Hugo who was very hard to communicate with and I had to ring him for updates all the time. There was definitely a language barrier! As I noted I payed the £250 ‘managed service’ which they have refused to refund even though the didn’t manage anything!

DO NOT USE!

Good evening

Thank you for your feedback and I am sorry to hear about your recent experience when selling through the platform.

I can see from the system the Client Service Manager has been in touch regarding the issues you have highlighted. From your feedback I do not believe you have seen this as yet so if you can please check your junk folder as the email may have filtered into there.

Please accept my sincere apologies on behalf of the buyer for their lack of communication and payment for the watch.

They have been informed they have 7 days (5 working days) to complete payment, or they will lose the right to purchase the watch.

Due to this term, they have until Saturday 24th February to complete on the sale, which is why the watch is still showing as sold.

If no payment has been received by the deadline, they will be informed they can no longer purchase the watch and their access to the platform will be revoked in line with our terms. We do not wish to have anyone looking to use our services to experience unnecessary disappointment.

As advised by the Manager we will be more than happy to refund the Managed Service fee in light of this.

Very sorry for the inconvenience caused. Please do come back to us on clientservices@watchcollecting.com to make the necessary arrangements.

Kind regards
Client Services Team

Recent Hublot sale

Recently sold a Hublot via this company & while it's super scary trusting & selling a watch like that on open auction, it worked really well & I pretty much got the price I was willing to let the watch go for. Trust them! I had them do the pictures as well. They kept me fully up to date on the sale & after it completed, I took the watch back up to them (you can leave it with them) & the transfer of funds was pretty much instant. Really easy experience. Thanks goes to Hugo!

Excellent. My go to for buying and selling.

I can now honestly say that the service from Ollie and the team is excellent. If you want to sell a watch you will get a quick sale at the going rate. If you are a buyer then there are lots of the most popular Rolex at great prices, but also some real rare jewels such as Forsey Greubel and a Rolex Octopus!

Professional and informative

Mark at WatchCollecting has been extremely professional , informative and helpful. From the initial meeting to drop the watch off for WC’s ‘Fully Managed’ service, he has been great to deal with, and worked through to get the right result.

There was a small miscommunication at the point of sale but the team at Watch Collecting dealt with it in the exact way I could of hoped for, and got me a fair and efficient resolution (under a hour!)
Top marks 👍🏻

Impressive service

Very professional service provided by Fleur Dubois at Watch Collecting. The watch had recently been serviced and was in perfect condition. It was carefully assessed and its ownership and provenance checked by Watch Collecting.
We agreed a reserve price and the watch went into the auction.
It sold for the price I was hoping to achieve to a buyer who is clearly delighted with his purchase.
A great experience all round.

Fleur was great!

Fleur was great, really helpful and professional and very accurate/ realistic on her assessment of the reserve. She was also able to guide me towards a photographer in my area, and generally handled the process seamlessly. The price I achieved for my watch was in excess of what other online services offered, so I’m really pleased.

unfortunately - caveat emptor

Disappointingly it’s their way or the highway. Despite making you as a buyer agree terms and a contract with WC and stating at Clause 9.9 you must agree a contract yourself with the seller they discourage any such contract and encourage you to pay the money to the seller - which you are yourself unable to conduct any KYC or AntiMoneyLaundering measures on. Feels like the process maybe open to fraud.
When you ask for their assistance to agree a short contract of sale they advise ‘this platform is not for you’. Perhaps more legal training needed for salespeople.

Despite the claims of checks of the Watchregister loss databases WC said they don’t ask the seller if the watch is lost stolen or fake on consignment.

A prime example we saw was a Rolex watch seller listed their watch with the wrong manual and admitted they were a dealer - after these red flags buyers wrote to WC but they ignored them and the auction was allowed to proceed to conclusion. due diligence on the seller? Due diligence on the watch and it’s papers?

Good afternoon,

Thank you for your feedback.

We do not discourage buyers and sellers from agreeing a separate contract with one another, if they require one. The platform connects buyers and sellers, so the sale contract for a watch always remains between those parties. As part of Watch Collecting’s trust and security measures. Watch Collecting has also partnered with www.escrow.com which allows buyers and sellers to complete their purchase with this added protection.

We carry out a number of customer checks on all sellers who list with us.

As well as a detailed listing interview to ascertain all the ownership history and provenience. We also organise professional photography of every angle of the watch, box and papers including all serial numbers.

The watch is run against the Art Loss Register and the Watch CSA Counterfeit Buster serial number database prior to listing. The listing is live for 7 days with the ability for a buyer to ask questions of the seller to satisfy any outstanding concerns.

In terms of additional extras such as user manuals, these can misplaced or mixed up over time when dealing with pre owned items. The ‘papers’ for the watch -the original manufacturers guarantee certification issued by the authorised dealer at the point of sale, were present with the lot. Many dealers/trade list on our platform as well as private individuals. They stated they were a dealer in the comments for full transparency.

I hope this clarifies our polices. However please do contact clientservice@watchcollecting.com should you have any further question on how the platform works.
