We started classes when my little one was 12 months. Has been almost a year now and my kid has been enjoying them and being in the water. Lots of fun activities, songs and new skills. Our teacher has been fantastic as well, very kind and patient.
Quality teaching with Water Babies
We’ve had two children swim with Water Babies and have had great experiences. We’re particularly grateful to our long time teachers Dora and Amina. And the stand in teachers were also great. Just to be balanced I would say (very) last minute cancellations might be helped by having a stand-by teacher which would surely be less expensive for the company than cancelling a whole afternoon of classes. Also changing at the Aloft Hotel was a bit more difficult than at the Crowne Plaza due to a lack of space. Overall we would recommend Water Babies due to the quality of the teachers. Thanks to Caron also for the help with the admin side of things.

This is a fantastic thing to do with…
This is a fantastic thing to do with your little ones - the course structure is wonderful and it is a beautiful bonding experience particularly when they are babies. The teachers are absolutely brilliant and it is amazing to see how much my son has progressed in these classes and I have now enrolled our younger one too as a result:) thank you to the whole team, particularly to Dana, Lisa and Shannon

Our instructor is the highlight
Our instructor, Jackie, is awesome! She is the highlight. The pool is also lovely (and warm).
Otherwise, lessons are frequently cancelled, the changing room is grubby and often not well equipped for babies. Catch up lessons are nigh impossible to arrange and there is little empathy from office staff.

My daughter loved her swimming lessons
My daughter loved her swimming lessons. We started at 10 weeks and she loves water now. The George green school location is great as it has a warm pool. The songs helped her recognise the actions and the instructors were great. Seeing her develop the safety skills was really encouraging. However the classes are so expensive for something we end up missing quite often due to illness now she's started nursery, me having to change my work pattern now I'm back to work, weekend travel, and her naptime so unfortunately we've had to cancel and look for other options.

Great lessons, fantastic teacher
I took my son to Hungerford Primary School for his lessons, we’ve recently moved but we’re continuing Water Babies in the new location as so far it’s been great.
The program is good, the facilities are too, but I can’t promote enough how wonderful the teacher Jackie is. She absolutely made the classes. My son loved her and she devoted individual care and attention to each of the babies, demonstrating patience, kindness and humour into the classes. She runs the classes brilliantly, being friendly to the children without overstepping, and she’s the reason we kept going back. We didn’t want to leave!
Thank you Jackie!

Big thank you!
We’ve been taking our daughter swimming since she was around 5–6 months old. We started at George Green School with the heated pool, which was an amazing place to begin. Later, we moved to the Aloft Hotel pool—both locations are fantastic.
All the instructors have been wonderful, but I would especially like to say a big thank you to Dana (I hope I spelled your name correctly).
Thank you for always being so patient with the children. Our daughter has improved her swimming skills so much, and I’m really happy we chose you as her instructor. I swam for many years during my teenage life, so I truly understand how important a great instructor is.
I genuinely believe you’ve done your very best for Celine, and she is doing incredibly well. Please remember her name—she might be on the GB team one day!

Our swimming teacher is amazing with…
Our swimming teacher is amazing with the babies and communicates very well.
If it wasn’t for her, I am not sure we would continue in the same location as the changing facilities are not great and because of the volume of classes you feel like you are rushed into cold straight after class. The catch yo lessons are hard to book due to lack of availability

I love the actual swimming lesson…
I love the actual swimming lesson itself; the structure, learning & pace for both me & the baby. And the environment at Whitefield Academy is lovely, warm & friendly. It’s also easy to park.
But I have found it tricky to book catch up classes because I need parking and so I will now lose three catch-up classes (£88!) whilst I have a break on maternity leave. It would be good to turn these into monetary tokens to avoid losing them if you need a break from the regular swimming classes.

My son loves his swim lessons with Dana…
My son loves his swim lessons with Dana at Aloft Hotel. She’s a great instructor.
The classes have been cancelled quite a few times which makes progress and consistency a bit tricky, and I’ve found the cover teachers (when Dana’s been away) to teach some exercises differently. But all in all - we love our sessions!

My daughter really enjoyed the lessons
My daughter really enjoyed the lessons. She has learned a lot! The lessons structures are very well thought out. Jennifer was a lovely teacher.
My only feedback would be about catch up sessions. You should allow catch up sessions to be used towards paid lessons. My daughter was very sick and in hospital so I had to take 2-3 weeks off. I wish they were offered to us as a good will gesture because of the severity of the situation.

Fantastic teachers/lessons, but rigid and frustrating admin structure.
We have mixed feelings about our experience with Water Babies East London. On one hand, the lessons and teachers are wonderful—our baby has progressed so much and the instruction is top-tier.
However, the administrative side is a real letdown, especially for working parents. The lessons are expensive, yet there is zero flexibility if you can't attend. Since our baby started nursery, we’ve missed several sessions due to illness. There are no refunds, and while you might be lucky enough to get a "token," when going on holiday, this is useless as there’s hardly ever any availability to redeem them before they expire. Plus, last-minute cancellations (sometimes 2 hour before) make it very difficult to plan your day.
It’s a lot of money to pay for a service that feels this inflexible.

Star is amazing
Star is amazing! She's so good with our little one and takes such joy and pride in teaching him as much as we do in watching him grow. My son has been going to waterbabies since he was 4m old and he has loved all the last three years of it!

Water Babies is our favourite activity
Water Babies is the favourite activity of the week for me and my 6 months old. We started when she was 12 weeks old and she absolutely loves it and her teacher Dana. Dana is great with the babies and has taught them so many important skills already. The classes are more expensive than others but I think it's really been worth the investment.

Fun lessons with varied activities and supportive teachers
Water babies lessons are carefully thought out and introduce your little ones to different activities to gradually build their confidence and safety skills in the water. The teachers are friendly, supportive, and make sure the little ones are ready and comfortable for each activity in the lesson and will suggest you don't attempt certain things if baby is having a fussy/sensitive day. Its a nice physical activity to do with you little one, and as a parent I look forward to the lesson every week. It takes a few weeks to get into a routine with getting yourself and a baby dry at the same time, but it gets easier!

We’ve really enjoyed our water babies…
We’ve really enjoyed our water babies experience but sadly have to cancel as moving abroad! Lisa our teacher has been fantastic and supportive throughout the last year and will be sad to leave. My son has learnt so much and grown in confidence.

I love Water Babies-great teachers and…
I love Water Babies-great teachers and pools, but they need to increase their geographical spread to cover more places accessible in tower hamlets. I had to wait 2+ years for my place at St Stephen’s centre and other pools were a bit of a shlep on eg: 2 DLR lines during maternity leave. Really amazing classes and teachers though
