The booking process was very straightforward and included everything we needed to know about the house and the local area. The website was easy to follow and presented information quite clearly.

It was simple, straightforward and quick. And £60 cheaper than Booking.Com. Win-win for me.

We were able to view several properties in our chosen area before making a decision. The booking page was very easy to follow. So far so good.

After spending hours and hours trying to find somewhere found this on your website. It's larger than we need but unbeatable value. Booking was easy took less than five minutes

I was searching for a last-minute holiday cottage for myself and my dog when I found Try Weryn Cottage in Saundersfoot listed for £170 for the week, starting in just three days. I refreshed the page multiple times to make sure the price was correct, and it stayed the same—£170. I immediately booked it and paid the compulsory £150 damage deposit, making a total of £320.
I was over the moon and quickly arranged for family and friends to look after my parents, whom I care for full-time. I hadn’t been away in years and was desperate for a break.
The next morning, I received a call from Linda, an agent from West Wales Holiday Cottages. She told me the owner was panicking because the listing price was supposedly wrong and that it should have been £795 for the week. She said I could either pay the difference or get a refund.
I was furious. I made it clear this was not my mistake and that they should honour the advertised price. I had already made all my arrangements. Linda said she would speak to her manager, so I made it clear I did not consent to any cancellation.
Minutes later, I received an email saying my booking had been cancelled and a refund issued—without my permission. I was absolutely livid and sent a complaint email. Linda later told me that her manager had agreed to waive the £35 booking fee on another cottage as a goodwill gesture. I told her that was nowhere near acceptable after what had happened and asked to speak to her manager, who was conveniently “busy.”
Absolutely appalling service. Do not book with this company. They should have honoured the advertised price. The mistake was entirely theirs, yet I was the one left disappointed and inconvenienced.
As other people have said, owners can decide which reviews to publish. So they are of no use in deciding which property to book. Our review of Caerllan was not published as we made a small complaint
Provided a review as requested in an email i received from WWHC 4 weeks later not publishef on their site. Why because i have given 1 star with bad feedback. Beware do not use WWHC they are just a middle man who take your money. Try and get owners details if you
can. Beware reviews could be false.
The agents were difficult to contact and not interested in any communication with them. The owners of the property Bell treehouse were amazing and did everything possible to assist us.
West Wales had refused to assist when a sick aunt of ours had to cancel due to a terminal illnes. The owners looked after her but WWHC were heartless.
We had already booked and had a great stay.
We have booked on the website of West Wales Holiday Cottages a lovely looking accommodation called "Rhyd y Brown Farmhouse" for the time period 10th – 17th August 2024. It only had superb reviews and we were really looking forward to our stay.
On the 10th August at 4pm we arrived at the property, where a key has been left for us. We opened the front door and were in total shock. The property looked nothing like the pictures on the website. The whole interior was at least 50 years old, everything was broken and there was an unbearable smell in the air, which was like a mixture of mould, urine and bleach. When we walked in the property we quickly noticed that we were walking in bleach, which was just poured on the floor and struggled breathing, as it smelled so extreme and hurt our lungs and eyes. We quickly noticed poison everywhere in the property and ants, bugs and cockroaches wherever we looked at. The carpets were ripped and mouldy, there was mould on the walls, stains everywhere on the sofa, the tables were sticky, electric wires and broken windows were in reachable height of my children.
There was no way we could sleep in this house, as it was simply a massive health and safety issue. We tried to ring West Wales Holiday Cottages from outside the property, but no one answered the phone. I then sent them an email asking for being called back as soon as possible, as we couldn’t stay at the property they have rented out to us.
We then decided to drive directly to the office address of West Wales Holiday Cottages and demand an alternative to sleep in.
When we arrived at their office in Cardigan, the office was closed and it said, they are back the next day at 10am.
Since we didn’t have a place we could go to we staid in their car park and had to sleep with our children in the car in front of their office.
The next morning a lady turned up to unlock the office. I approached her and explained to her the situation and said, we need an alternative accommodation immediately.
She asked me to come in and said she has to call her manager.
After calling her manager she said she can offer us another property, which is available to move in the same day, however we would need to pay another £878 and only afterwards can get our money back for the other property!
Since we were with our children and had no other place to go to, we had not other option than paying another £878 to West Wales Holiday Cottages in their office.
As it turned out, West Wales Holiday Cottages do not inspect the properties they advertise on their website and also refuse to take any responsibility for it, although you book it on their website and trust their pictures and reviews, which by the way are all monitored by the actual owners of the property. So you will never see any objective review on their website about any of their advertised property.
West Wales Holiday Cottages will simply tell you, to get in touch with the owner for any issues.
In our case the owner has till today not given us back our money and we now had to get our Credit Card company involved, which are currently investigating for fraud.
Wish I'd read these reviews before booking. Booked a cottage in Aberporth (not cheap) only to be told the next day that it had been double booked and they'd cancelled my booking. They took the money straight away and I had to ask for them to refund it (surely they should process the refund immediately?!) ... but refund is now showing as 'pending' and not in my account. I am now unable to book an alternative as have insufficient funds. Of course they just blame the owner and the banks... very poor customer service.
Would give zero but no choice to. Like someone else said read their small print and pray everything is ok with your holiday booking. Would not use them again. Pass the buck and get you to deal direct with the owner who will just argue that things are ok as it’s theirs. No impartiality and it seems once you’ve paid they don’t care. Have also been told you will never see a mediocre or negative review on their website. I should have done more research before booking through them
And looked for other reviews for the property on other sites. Stayed in a cottage in Newport pembs and photos weren’t totally as described and place not clean.
Unfortunately the cottage we booked was sub-standard and we left after only one night. The owner has been pretty decent and given us a partial refund but West Wales Cottages will accept no responsibility for advertising and allowing us to book this property. They do not inspect the properties they advertise and I strongly suspect only publish positive reviews. They have not asked me to review either the property or themselves! Enough said!! I would not book through this agency again. If you are planning to book with them scrutinise their Terms and Conditions and hope and pray everything is okay with your chosen property.
Just returned from 6 Tudor cottages in Jameston, it's a lovely cottage with plenty of room for the 6 of us, my grandchildren loved it. Ellen was a wonderful host and with her being in the cottage next door she was always available to talk to.
The actual booking and payment were all easy enough. When I spotted that the house we had rented was no longer listed as the owner has put it up for sale I was straight on to them. They got back very quickly confirming holidays until September 2023 were being honoured....phew!
The only problem I have with this company is what others have said, if you write a review the owner has the right to refuse its publication. So all the reviews are good!
I stayed at Bell Tree House and Guest Wing in Tenby in July 2023. As I said the owner has put it up for sale and has totally checked out of the upkeep of it.
Sofa's are so saggy no amount of cushions are going to revive them but at least we could use the cushions on the really hard uncomfortable dining chairs.
The fridge freezer is broken which I reported to the owner the day after arriving but you can tell its not a new problem. He just doesn't want to buy a replacement.
The beds are as bad as the sofa's and nearly all of them sag in to the middle, beware if there are 2 of you in them. One of them though oddly sagged outwards and one of my party kept rolling out of bed.
A lot of bulbs have gone and the lights in the hallways have some sort of override going on which once we worked it out we got them to work.
The cleaners don't clean above eye level...the lights are filthy and there are cobwebs all over.
The showers are either a dribble or a light flow....I found the handheld one in the bath was better than the main bathroom 'power' shower....oh and no way was I going to spend time in the steam shower....lots of mould round the bottom.
Such a shame as its in a lovely location, Tenby, which is a beautiful seaside town.
Just stayed at bubbleton in a shepherds hut, picture in brochure looks idilique but actual hut has all nettles under the hut and all around the hut not the pretty picture as the brochure. No plant pots or flowers just grass. The hut itself was fine had everything for a very basic glamping weekend break. 2 rings no oven tiny portable fridge very old furniture but 2 nights was fine certainly wouldn't recommend for any longer.
The cottage was tired and shabby looking and the furniture in the sitting room not comfortable. The bedding (duvets, duvet covers, cushions, pillows) smelt fine but had lots of old stains on them. Curtains in 2 bedrooms coming off their rails. Controls on cooker entirely rubbed off, small lean-to between the kitchen and outside full of cobwebs and generally dirty with old garden chairs, threadbare mats, etc. stored there. MOST IMPORTANT!! The door from the conservatory to garden could not be opened and the lock on the other door, which is the front door, stuck badly so we left it unlocked all the time. This could be lethal as if there was a fire in the kitchen this is the only way out. This cottage should not have a fire safety certificate. Owner notified of all this but no reaction. Subsequently she said her Email was on the blink but she didn't bother to come and check if everything was OK the whole time we were there. A lightbulb blew in sitting room - not replaced despite owner knowing about it and promising to fix it. BEWARE IF YOU HAVE CHILDREN, there is a very old, very rusty tractor right beside the front gate with lots of sharp edges.
This could have been a lovely holiday cottage but needs work. We left a day early.
Echoing other reviewers AVOID this company. We booked Tan-Y-Llan in Penbryn. Lovely garden and lovely area. The inside of the property was revolting. The place is poorly furnished and grubby. It evidently hasn't seen a deep clean in a while. We had to clean the kitchen and bathroom on arrival. On the penultimate day we found used sanitary towels in the bathroom bin.
We have complained to both West Wales and the owner. Neither cared and neither took responsibility. DO NOT BOOK WITH THIS COMPANY!
We stayed at Ty Melyn Mair cottage just outside New Quay. Set in a beautiful location, peaceful with beautiful walks through the woods down to the beach. A. Cosy cottage with a lovely garden to relax in. Alistair made us feel very welcome on arrival and couldn’t have been more helpful. We had a great time👍🏻
