Rug pulled
What's the point of an "owned" license if a company unilaterally decides to withhold security updates? I know some lackey at WHMCS will reply and make some sly mention at how many years ago the purchase was, but lifetime means LIFETIME. I don't expect to be entitled to free support and updates, but outright removing the option to buy support and updates at any price is shameful.
Adding insult to injury, they have the audacity to send out an email "inviting" me to trade in my owned license for a month-to-month license for a discount, and that discount is even limited-time.

Buyer Beware that since they were…
Buyer Beware that since they were purchased recently they decided to not honor all the customers they duped into buying owned licenses. They claim those licenses are still active, but have made it so you cannot get security updates making the product unusable. Their latest slight to customers is trying to convert their owned licenses to a monthly rented license that is no longer unlimited clients as the purchase agreements stated. So our licenses we paid for and helped keep the company afloat are essentially useless at this point unless you want to violate all PCI compliance.

This company is a disgrace
This company is a disgrace. Like other reviewers here I also purchased a lifetime 'owned' license - only to be told now that I am no longer entitled to updates.
I do not understand how a company can think it is OK to offer a lifetime deal, take your money and then end the deal a few years later.
Thanks for your response to my review - I'm afraid your copy / paste explanations are fooling nobody.

Unable to support upgrades with old…
[UPDATED in response to WHMCS reply]
We all know that answering the tickets even in a timely manner do not mean that it is resolved. The reason why we are providing a feedback here is because we aren't satisfied with your answers (yes, we can't even call it a "support" as it does not help with our specific concern and because you are leaving our business hanging which can hurt us really bad). You forced us to subscribe to your scheme but you don't provide us enough support to migrate properly. We are even willing to pay for the migration. As for the details you were asking, we opened 3-4 tickets explaining the details of the same concern with different dates from last year because we hoped to get a different support staff that can help us or say if you have a change of heart. Our business has been running for many years and is now experiencing difficulties due to your unfair scheme. At least, if you want us to subscribe which we are very much willing to (to be fair and you can improve the platform), help us properly migrate.

Unable to support upgrades with old versions that has manual processes. They only provided a tool which does not really help in some scenarios. And when we explained the matter and asked for help since they are the subject matter experts, they refused. We are even willing to pay just to help us migrate properly. This is really disappointing. They indirectly forced us to subscribe and then when we are ready to subscribe they won't bother helping. We also asked for solutions because perhaps we can get a 3rd party that can do it for us, but we got nothing from them. It is undeniable that WHMCS is by far the best software for this business but not the best support you can get. It is best that you get away from this software because sooner or later, new schemes will be forced to you and they will leave you hanging which can potentially destroy your operation hence the business.

Horrendous capitalist greed and lack of escalation
EDIT: 28 July 2023
It seems the escalation to John is starting to bear some fruit. It also appears I missed a critical message from Lawrence where he told me he's log a new issue with their development team about this issue.
So for the most part, I'm extracting what I wrote here. The issue isn't resolved, but for the most part it seems WHMCS is taking this issue more serious now and perhaps wanting to help me too.
Lawrence Technical Analyst II that works at WHMCS.com's help desk is symptomatic of someone senior sitting behind a keyboard completely out of touch with reality and their clients.
The word customer service has long since been forgotten and because of their so-called seniority they are also not willing to escalate, because you know, they are always right.
Since they are so clever and "high" up in the rankings, if the reply doesn't take 1 minute to resolve it's not worth giving good service.
The backstory is I have an ongoing issue with WHMCS.com since 2019 when they first ripped me of to charge me $40 for a simple CURL timeout in the Virtualmin module. I have 5 servers and all servers work except a busy server that goes beyond the 300 seconds they've allocated for the task to complete. In fact, that server takes 360 seconds. I've spend many man days trying to resolve this problem myself. Eventually after isolating it I pointed it out to them on a silver platter by way of a bug report that there is something wrong, how to reproduce, etc.
In total I have wasted so much of my own time on this, risked a lot of lost income, and even gently at first, and more aggressively later, informed WHMCS that something is wrong. That it's bad business practice to charge a long standing customer this ludicrous amount for such a simple change which essentially boils down to a bug. That I can't afford to do it every time there is an upgrade.
What's further symptomatic about these senior guys is their special inability to see a long standing customer. On multiple occasions (I count at least three), I have ask this Lawrence to escalate my call and report that I am unhappy to keep on paying $40 every few years because of their problem. Instead of Lawrence listening to me, he ignores my requests for escalation time and time again.
I guess his attitude is "well you've been using our product since 2007 so you're hooked in anyway" or something along those lines.
Lawrence is the epitome of capitalism and customer service gone wrong. It's how companies who have clients for a long time instead of respecting it disrespects it and shunts you with a new invoice. You can't grow with these companies because they use the time you've been with them against you to rip you off.
PATHETIC, and hopefully not symptomatic of the whole of the WEBPROS group.
Lawrence, learn to escalate buddy. If you are too important or too busy to escalate to Matt, I will have no problem escalating to the WEBPROS shareholders and the internet.
EDIT: One John Kipling head of support contacted me offering me an old 7.4 module which I paid for years ago as a compromise. John Kipling seems to have the same poor attitude (and lack of knowledge of PHP EOL) as the rest of the business.
I'll carry on escalating till someone there or in the holding company see what's going on here. What a joke.
***BEWARE***
***BEWARE*** I have been using WHMCS for 13 years and have been very happy with the results, UNTILL out of the blue they pulled the plug on support and updates for lifetime licenses, leaving my website open to security breaches and forcing early supporters of WHMCS to find alternative software or pay again. WHMCS answer to this is that they offer a new pricing plan that offers updates and support or we can keep using the software. The fact is without updates the software is useless and open to security breaches.
LIFETIME means LIFETIME

WHMCS made a believer out of me!
I have used countless solutions to manage my hosting services, but I landed on you one day some time ago.
I must express that you have convinced me that they are a company that genuinely cares about the opinions of the peasants regarding your services and the quality of your products.
any company to sell a "Lifetime"…
any company to sell a "Lifetime" license and then jerk it out from under you with a "just eat it" response is no company worth my money.
Edit: WHMCS tried to have my review removed to make themselves look better. What a disgrace!

Exceptional Technical Support and Customer Service Experience!
I recently had the pleasure of interacting with the technical support and customer service team at WHMCS, and I must say that my experience was absolutely outstanding! From the moment I reached out for assistance, I was met with a level of professionalism and expertise that surpassed all my expectations.
First and foremost, the agents I interacted with were incredibly friendly and personable. They made me feel valued as a customer right from the start. Their exceptional interpersonal skills instantly put me at ease, making it easier for me to explain my issue.
One aspect that truly impressed me was the level of knowledge demonstrated by the WHMCS support team. They possessed a deep understanding of their product and swiftly identified the root cause of my problem (thanks, Cloudflare lol). Not only were they able to explain the issue to me in a clear and concise manner, but they were actually able to fix it for me fairly quickly.
What truly sets WHMCS apart is its quick response time. As soon as I submitted my ticket, their team promptly acknowledged my request and worked diligently to address my concerns. They wasted no time in getting to the heart of the matter, ensuring that my problem was resolved in the shortest possible time frame.
The efficiency with which the WHMCS team handled my issue was truly commendable. They approached the situation with a sense of urgency, sparing no effort to ensure that my experience was smooth and hassle-free. It was evident that they valued my time as much as their own, which is a rare quality to find in customer support these days.
In conclusion, I cannot recommend WHMCS's technical support and customer service enough. Their friendly and knowledgeable agents, combined with their swift and efficient problem-solving abilities, have made my experience a truly remarkable one. I'm incredibly grateful for their assistance and their commitment to providing exceptional service. WHMCS has definitely earned my trust and loyalty as a satisfied customer.
Awful software
Awful software, doesnt offer credit notes by default, terrible performance, locked down and also has broken logic.
If you have had previous transactions and then disable the gateway it will update the old ones to a gateway that is still active - essentially corrupting alot of data.
This software is in need of a full rewrite to be good.

Insufficient protection for developers reputations
As a legitimate developer and vendor, I am disappointed with the way WHMCS handles their Marketplace and review system. It is deeply concerning that they knowingly allow users of nulled software, including those using nulled WHMCS versions, to post negative reviews, directly impacting the reputation and credibility of developers like ourselves.
I reported a review of a user which does use nulled versions of both our software and WHMCS. As responsible developers, we take measures to protect our software and ensure that only legitimate license holders can purchase and use our modules. Unfortunately, WHMCS has not taken any action against this user, and the reviews on the products remain on the Marketplace.
WHMCS's reasoning is that they lack the resources to verify the legitimacy of each review, and instead, they suggest that I reply to the negative reviews to provide a more balanced view. While it is understandable that they may not have the resources to address every review individually, in cases like this one, where the situation is clearly unjust, they should take action. By not taking appropriate action, they provide users of nulled software a platform to damage the reputation of legitimate vendors without consequence.
I have tried to contact WHMCS and request that they remove the negative reviews posted by this user, but they have chosen to stand by their policy and have offered no solution to the problem. This not only undermines the integrity of the WHMCS Marketplace but also demonstrates a lack of support for developers who work hard to create valuable and legitimate products.
I expected more help from WHMCS when dealing with this issue. I understand that removing feedback can be difficult, and I don't request that regularly. However, in this particular case, I believe that WHMCS would recognize the problem after spending just a few minutes looking into the details I provided. I understand that they might be concerned that removing reviews one time may lead to a commitment to handle such cases always, but I don't expect that. My expectation is for WHMCS to remove reviews from inapplicable users only. Regrettably, their reliance on predefined responses casts doubt on whether they have genuinely investigated the matter at all.
It is possible that the ticket was handled by the "wrong" person, as I can hardly imagine that it is in WHMCS's interest to provide a platform for such users. Therefore, I am more than willing to adjust the review accordingly if the case is dealt with appropriately. I am not interested in harming WHMCS in any way, but this issue and the associated frustration leave me no other option than to voice my opinion publicly. Despite this issue, WHMCS continues to be a reliable software for web hosting companies. Considering that this particular problem (which has significant impact for me) is the sole reason for my dissatisfaction, I will still give 3 stars to avoid causing undue harm to the overall rating.
If anyone wants to take a look at the ticket, the ticket ID is CXU-021306.
