Lag bolts are made of peanut brittle.
1/4" lag bolts are made of peanut brittle. These things break in soft pine when tightening by hand with a 3/8 socket (no pressure needed). Some of the heads snapped off while trying to get them OUT of soft pine wood. 3" exterior screws look pretty cheap too. Shipped fast though.

Did you pre-drill the holes for the Lag Screws? It is recommended to pre-drill the whole length of the screw for all Lag Screws, even the 1/4". Even a pilot hole being drilled too small can cause these kinds of issues.
The Striker Brand exterior screws are a decent screw that is sold in many hardware stores. We also carry Grip Rite exterior screws. We stand behind the products we sell. If you have any problems with the exterior screws we would be happy to replace them with the Grip Rite, or refund the purchase price.
As long as the Lag Screws are being used as recommended we stand behind those as well. Please email us with more info on the Lag Screws and we will see what we can do.

We are making a 12ft harvest table
We are making a 12ft harvest table. Since the weight is about 4-500lbs, we are making 3 robust trestles. The bolts that we purchased will have the heads painted black. So these connectors will act functionally as well as aesthetically We needed the size to match the 4x4 Red Oak for the trestles that we are making.

Somehow the UPS tracking number was input incorrectly, so I couldn't track our package of bolts which my husband needed to complete a project before winter sets in. When I called to inquire, I was pleasantly surprised to immediately be connected with a real voice who promised to research the issue and get back with me. An hour later he called to tell me that the package was out for delivery, and

Good stuff
I’m building a 22 foot deck-over trailer and the big box stores, and the smaller guys were killing me on the price of their hardware. So glad I found this website / company.
