Keep away from Piraeus Bank if you can.

I have a bankaccount with Piraeus bank. Based upon my personal experience I now understand (as a non-Greek) why Greek banks in general have a very bad name amongst Greeks. Personnel often shows a great indefference, often is incompetent and also often is sloppy. The information that you get is only the half information, with the result that later things go wrong. The bank itself shows a lot of burocracy and you have to pay for really everything (and not one Euro, but real amounts). I once had to do with Eurobank, and my experience with them was terrible. So I come to the conclusion that all Greek banks have the same way of working and handling and that is really true that Greek banks only think of themselves and are far from client friendly.

Horrendous

Horrendous! How do they expect to be part of a modern economy with services that are as bad, unprofessional and ancient as this.

This bank's new face is inhumane

This bank's new face is inhumane. It used to be friendly, but now they are properly hostile to their customers. I don't know who thought up of the recent changes, sinister is the word that comes to mind. It is only the employees whom I have known for years that keep me there. This is this bank's only asset at this time.

The rudest staff

The rudest staff. We visited 3 different branches. They were treating all the customers bad. Not answering questions. A big line and nobody was accepting a customer to assist. I tried to ask an employee where to wait or who can assist me, and yell at me I don't know just wait there. He pushed an old man who had stucked in the doors. We left we went to Eurobank.

Appalling phone banking service

Appalling customer and phone banking services! I am on the phone for over 60minutes now! Awful!
Still, they charge you every time you make a transaction online. As someone very well put it a long time ago ...: "Guys, you're on your own!"

Appalling customer service and practices

I have been a client of Pireaus bank for about 20 years, mostly due to lack of alternative options in Greece and because my family holds accounts in the same bank as well. I live abroad and I always face trouble getting in contact with the bank because apparently they need a phone number to be registered in my file, and they can't use my foreign number.

This is where all the trouble starts, as I'm not able to do anything without a Greek mobile number (not able to obtain one as you need to constantly pay for it to stay active). I am not able to access their e-banking service (winbank) because they need to update my contact details (but they can't, because my phone number doesn't register in their systems).

Calls at the branch in order to book an appointment never get through and the only way to book an appointment is to use the e-banking service, which I can't use.

And when I call the generic customer service line they have implemented an identification policy which, beyond utmost stupidity, needs your:
Name, Address, Phone Number, ID number, TAX ID number, Date of birth. Not some of these details but ALL of these details, in order to even talk to an advisor. And in my case it fails because they can't recognise my phone number, and I frankly don't remember what phone number I used when I registered to the bank decades ago.

It's beyond useless and a shame of customer service system, I'm sorry for the representatives because I'm sure many people lose their temper when having to deal with them. I understand Greece has mandated banks to implement GDPR processes however the way Pireaus bank has implemented this is really bad, inefficient, rushed and overall a huge failure.

They steal your money

They steal your money! They have people internally get your money from your accounts and then they play you for months and don't give them back. Awful the worst ever bank. Leave now all of you reading this. If I could put minus stars I would have done it. I sued them.
