They do not want the business

As I thought it a ‘good idea’ to change my bank in Greece, I contacted them to arrange for an appointment for when I visited the country a month before my arrival. After being passed around from pillar to post (not really unusual in Greece tbh) the relevant branch started asking me questions, which I answered straight away. These questions, many of which were totally irrelevant and others that I had already answered, carried on for over 2 weeks. Eventually they decided they would do me a favour and grant me an audience!!! The next problem was that the first available appointment was for a month from then, so could not have one whilst I was there. they made it quite obvious that they do not want the business, so they should not claim to be a retail bank. Comical if not such a serious field

I wired my cousin a christmas present…

I wired my cousin a christmas present of $255 and they said I did not put her name correct so they returned the wire minus a $53 fee. So they only returned $202 dollars because the recipient name was spelled incorrectly. All other bank account number were correct. And they charge 10 euros to send the wire. They are crooks. I will never deal with this bank again. Once bitten, twice shy. I'm just going to mail a check next time.

Horrid

Horrid , horrid so-called service but then typical of Greece .There are so many things to say ,one doesn't know where to begin. I'm on the phone to them now ,a costly long distance call ,the system informed me there was a wait if 30 minutes, it's been 130 minutes and even though I was curious to see how far this would go , I've decided to give up 139 minutes waiting on the phone at a time when they're not at all busy( 1am to 3:10 am).. One out of 5 stars is too generous a score when it comes to this awful bank

Abysmal "service"

I only give 1 star because there is no zero star option. The receptionist seemed very uninterested in helping my elderly mother pay property tax notices. We're from Canada and she is used to paying them with a teller but this employee told her to go to the bank machine and pay 6 seperate payment notices. The bank was completely empty of customers at the time and he was busy chatting with the cleaning lady. I guess the poor fellow was too tired to stamp 6 sheets of paper.

Casualness and disattention rule

Casualness and disattention rule
Fine the Solonos street branch has a renewed look and everything feels swift and efficient. Behind the "make-up" is a bank where basic needs are met -largely through online banking functioning according to some American-style idiosyncratic structure that does not go well with European and for that matter Greek life-style. Other services?: Forget about them.
Specifically their ERGO home insurance policies much promoted at present are a total fraud. Their personnel is not trained to deal with them; they have no mechanism to establish the real facts about home damages and again in a very American-style ERGO insurance company uses sub contractors as for In-con company that without checking -even an on-site visit- the insured property defines refunds with no clear parameters, no charts, no benchmarking with market costs and the like.
The result? First report filed on: 06.02.2025 and........NO REFUND as of today.
Engagement of Piraeus Bank?: Zero.
Good luck to others like me who thought home insurance is a must in the civilized world.

CRIMINALLY BAD SERVICE

If you are receiving money electronically from anywhere other than Greece, expect the money to go missing anywhere from 3 to 6 weeks, even though you have received confirmation from the sending bank that Pireaus have received the money.
If you complain you will be treated like an idiot and no one can find where in their own system your money is.
At this point you will have to commission a lawyer to threaten legal action.
If you are sending money, your account will be debited instantly but the recipient bank will not receive it for several days.
Branches may be closed without notice during the summer for any reason like "Beach day" or "Backgammon competition" or simply "Closed for a frappe coffee"
And don't even think of asking for a replacement debit card if yours is damaged after 5 years. It is easier to ask for a loan than to get a replacement card.
The service should be categorised as criminally incompetent. CRIMINALLY Incompetent.

There is incompetence and there is Piraeus Bank

There is incompetence, and then there is Piraeus Bank. Incompetence is way, way, WAY better. The EU should never have bailed out any of the Greek banks, but this one in particular is a raging dumpster fire of incompetence. Thanks to them and their "systems" being upgraded... at 11 pm on a weeknight, I lost a special for which a transaction had to be made by midnight, and I could not even log in to my online banking via any method. Their "customer service," after listening to literally 10 minutes of nonstop recorded messages that could not be skipped before even being placed on hold, told me they were upgrading the systems at that time and that even they didn't have access. Sums it up for this disaster of a bank.

SCAMS FOREIGN OR ELDERLY CUSTOMERS

BEWARE!
If you a foreigner or elderly while opening an account with them they will cheat you to sign up for their insurance comany called "Piraeus Agency Solutions S.A." without even telling you while you sign 50 pages in a row and they will charge you 30 euros commision directly from your bank account every year !

If you are a young local they might just ask and insist to sign up for this.

Disgusting comany & workers that take a commision from that !

Avoid them Unacceptable costumer service in the branches

I have verified my details with all the banks and the national web gate except for Piraeus Bank Eutixidou &frinis. Pagrati Athens They are unacceptable and untrained employees and the only thing they have been trained in is how not to serve costumers. Avoid them If I had the opportunity to send a letter to the owner of the company it would make me extremely happy but I know that if I make complaints they will definitely go in the trash can.

Obsurd processes

Obsurd processes, Obsurd customer service. Stay away! The customer service line keeps hanging up on you and refuses connection with a reap person. I changed my card withdrawal limit, and I could not withdraw the said amount form any atm. Also, the bank charges intrabank fees, which is illegal! The latest law has abolished those fees.

Customer service of poor quality

Customer service, similar to other Banks in Greece such as Alpha & Ethniki, of poor quality. It is my perception, the customer is treated as second tier, definitely not with sincere ordinary & appropriate respect. They are indifferent and unprofessional, which leads them being rude after all. More or less this is my perception for the majority of the businesses, nowadays, in many countries such as Germany, the US, definitely not only in Greece. It is like an epidemic.

worst bank and worst experience ever

worst bank and worst experience ever. they been trying to send me a new card to replace my old one. they been trying for three months. THREE WHOLE MONTHS. they cannot send it to my home, to the correct address. this is just ridiculous. even more ridiculous is the fact they want to to charge me 6 euros for the new card replacement. it is not even my fault and they charge me for their incompetence. its not about the price, its about principles. i will try to get as far away from this bank as possible.

as for the customer service, it is probably the worst experience i have ever had in my life. it takes top spot alongside turkish airlines in this matter.

i can't stretch enough how bad this bank and its services are.
